At 3:03, he's drilling the "Pad Eye Plate" with 3" Lag Screws" AND using LARGE WASHERS. Page 15 of the install manual says, "Secure Pad Eye Plate (#22) to stud or joist using two 3" Lag Screws (#24), and a 7/16" socket. The manual says nothing about using washers nor does the audio part. Is that a crucial step?
At 2:57 - Am I measuring 35" to the top of the pad eye plate or to the upper hole in the plate? This video looks like you measured to the upper hole but the instructions show measuring 35" to the top part of the eye pad plate which is above the upper hole.
Hi Gino, I was asking myself the same thing, video and installation guide says 2 different measure for the installation of the pad eye plate. Also, I’ve joined (2) 2x8 shelves together and at the end my last cable is offset a little bit to attach to the stud. Is that normal you think ? My studs are centered at every 96’’
Your instructional videos should match the printed install manual. On Step 13, in the video, the Cross Supports are being installed ABOVE the perimeter frame with the hex bolts facing DOWN. In the install manual (page 21), it clearly shows the Cross Supports going UNDER the perimeter frame with the bolts facing UP.
Very simple vid and the shelf is so great that I’ve just bought my 2nd 2x8 rack!

Hi Gino. Thanks for your question! When measuring, measure to the upper hole in the plate. Hope that helps!

I tired for hours to put mine up and couldn’t
Does this only work on doubled up studs? You can only get one lag bolt unless you have two studs.
So you have the option to build your 4x8 and/or 4x4?
These shelves are sold in numerous different configurations.
