  • Another day on the route where my trailer lights don’t work. Of course the job has to still get done so we must use a little improvisation. Comment below how you would handle this situation or day like this

No sir! Monday thru Friday 5 day work week. If you do work a Saturday it is only because a route wasn’t completed on Friday that still needs to be done and even then they ask in order of seniority who would like to run the route and the pay for that day is paid out at wha is called your average hourly rate making it beneficial for someone to say yes for that day. Other than that, no weekends for the US Foods division I work for. I must say though I can’t speak for other divisions, some may work Saturdays, you just have to inquire with the division you may be interested in

@@TayTheLocalTruckerBet, appreciate the information. I start CDL school next month and wanna go with US Foods or Sysco. What was your first few months at US Foods like and how long have you been working there?

That’s awesome bro! I’ve been with US Foods two years now and the first few months was pretty good considering I stayed consistently working and not on the extra board. The biggest adjustment for me was the mindset. Having to understand that there will be plenty of days where your load is a mess in totality or the way the pallets are built are backwards was a huge hurdle for me because I operate on the notion of what’s right and what makes sense. Now days I tell people if you can work past the warehouse issues with your loads and the “negligence” of management then you can make great money in this field and have a great career. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else right now. And one of the biggest perks about it is that we’re somewhat recession proof because everyone got to eat. Good luck on your journey and getting them L’s bro. Let me know if I can help anymore

@@TayTheLocalTrucker Sounds good man, I can not wait. Question though, I live around the Fayetteville area I see closest US Foods and Sysco warehouses are in Raleigh and Charlotte, do they pay for relocation? How much does US Foods pay hourly?

Bro!! I word for the Charlotte division here in NC. The drop yard I work out of is in Burlington and the drop yard closes to you is in Raeford! You don’t have to relocate if you want to work out of that yard. We’re also apart of the union so you would automatically become apart of it as we if you get hired. We’re based on a component pay structure so pay varies but we have a daily minimum of $300 so even if the route you run doesn’t equate to that, you get bumped to that minimum. Our division does require 6 months of experience and that’s it.
