I've been discussing exactly this with my guitar teacher for weeks. Until I found the "SBT Live in Berlin" video here and when you freeze the vid at 1:09 you cleary see he's playing open A and D.
thank you all, do not hesitate to look [ Nothing else maters ] [ [ METALLICA - Nothing else matters ] How to play part 1/2: guitar cover ] and [ Seek and destroy ] [ [ METALLICA - Seek and Destroy ] How to play part 2/2: free guitar lesson ] ..... and share with your friends !
Great job Brother. tabs are a little bit off from what you're doing, but nothing that can't be fixed by watching your hands or listening to the song. I've always said on the muted accents and stuff it's always best to do those by ear, never go by the tabs on those. they're hardly ever right
Lots of mistakes in timing and chords. Firs in riff 2 the g and c string ring open followed by the g# power chord. and then before the solo those slow descending leads are slower and have other timings.
In your verse you're playing a 16th note rest as a note/chord, your notation dose'nt add up to your tab, and the tab dose'nt add up to how you're playing the song. It's three palm muted Em chords and then the pull-off riff, not a 16th note rest (that you play as a chord) and two palm muted Em chords.
Some parts have a tabulature and some dont and in some parts there is a disagreement between tabs and between what you are playing other than this was great!
Playing Metallica on a CoB guitar (at least I think it's the Alexi-600 scythe)... Whereas I just sit there with my Metallica guitar (James Hetfield Snakebyte) and can't play this song...

This made this song so much easier, If so, could you possible make one of these for slipknot, pulse of the maggots. If that is possible that would be really amazing
DGCFAD TUNING. Drop all the strings one step down from the standard E. To do that, drop the low E string down to D. And others strings follow. Famous songs written in Drop D: Nirvana - lithium. Nirvana - Come as you are. Blink 182 - Adam's song. The beatles - Yesterday. Metallica - Sad but True.
Imagine singing this and pulling this off? Hey plus walking around the stage watching the crowd! Hetfield's good! This guy here is good! Thanks for your time sharing this!
For the love of god and all that is holy...please...pretty please with sugar on top. Tune your guitar. Maybe it's just me, but I cannot listen to/watch a guitar tutorial while being constantly distracted by the dissonance of the instruments tuning within itself, irrespective of how good it is from any other aspect. It just rubs me so many kinds of wrong three ways to Sunday. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think it makes it near impossible to take any musician seriously enough when they can't even be bothered to tune their instrument properly (and spot fixing it when and where it drifts out of tune). Maybe I'm just too anal about it. MAYBE.
Thank you SO MUCH ive been trying to play this songs for months but every one on youtube did something different and sound weird when I played it... THANKS SO MUCH
Awesome video but it was a little unclear what parts you were muting in the chorus. I basically had to figure that out on my own to get it to sound right. If I could make a recommendation for future videos label all the notes you mute in the tab to avoid confusion. That will save many people pain.
Sounds right, but the tabs are a little bit off to what you are actually playing (like mising bends, and some wrong note timing), not mentioning the "Other parts" section when you went off the beat played in the background. But these nuances are to figure out by ear even by beginner players. Apart from that good job.
Great job mate. Very well played, and very well done on the showing with the slow motion and all. Thanks for taking the time to help us out.
Right on man
I think James play the D5 in the verse riff inverted with open A and D string..

Yes, he does. Playing the D5 on the fifth fret raises the pitch too much.
5:57 This part is just fucking with me! What do I have to do to play it at the right speed?

Evan Tisby ,
thank you to you!! the guitar is LTD Alexi 600
Can anyone help a beginner? Is this in drop D tuning? Low E string tuned down to D?
That's drop D. You need to drop every single string
yep whole step down D G C F A D
This is not a DROP-d, this is a STANDARD-d (drop-d: DADGBE, Metallica uses standart-d: DGCFAD).
Some parts have a tabulature and some dont and in some parts there is a disagreement between tabs and between what you are playing other than this was great!
Can you tell me where you got this version of the tabs?
Thanks for the free lesson. Good work.
What do you think of our cover version of "Sad But True"?
how does this guitar play? im interested in buying one
what gear did you use to get the tone? you are the closest guy to that tone?
Sounds like Hammett's guitar sound in the original song. Great Job! Bravo!
Playing Metallica on a CoB guitar (at least I think it's the Alexi-600 scythe)... Whereas I just sit there with my Metallica guitar (James Hetfield Snakebyte) and can't play this song...
MetalViking it's easier on COB guitar

MetalViking Keep working at it man, this is not that difficult if you work your way up slow
Main verse riff is not played like that.
