my god, ive not heard of spectrobes in years, i uses to play it a ton when i was younger on my DS, it was super fun, i think i finished the game like 4 times, then my DS broke and i couldn't play it anymore, man such fond memories
Get it now for the ds emulator it still doesn't disappoint. Just... Look for the card cube when you get back to the earth planet in front of the museum. Then go online and look up the card keys and get your self some dope spectrobes
@@robot5680 yeah, it's pretty good, imo, if anything, it's my favorite in the series, though I've yet to finish any of the games, despite starting all 3 at different points of time, and got like, 7 eights of the way through the wii one
My brother and I were obsessed woth spectrobes until we lost the cartridge one day! Absolutely adore the creature design, and at the time the combat seemed pretty cool
I actually learned the planet names of this game first before our actual planets, lol played it when i was like 6 or so. I was obsessed i even had the cards
The cards were usable an infinite number of times as long as you didn't use them over and over again in without changing them or as long as you didn't use them too many times in the same play session. They input system would typically shutdown if you used a single card ten or more times in the same play session. Rarely when you have never used a card it would fail as if you had used it too many times in a single session. Another thing ameboid doesn't necessarily mean primitive but can also mean formless or able to change from or the ability to pass through seemingly solid materials. Considering that their hive mind very closely resembles either flower or the fruiting body of a fungus it lends credibility to the idea of the kral being a formless or than they are able to change their form drastically. The spectrobes themselves could potentially be called ameboid because of how drastically they change. But the same applies to Pokemon and Digimon too. The last thing I can easily remember is that the moons of the split planet are magnetic monopoles. This basically means that they are basically only a single magnetic domain and pole is present over the entire moon. These are technically possible though to exist in our universe though there might only be a single one throughout the entire universe. Basically there might be only a single north and a single south monopole.
Just played Origins a few days ago. I felt myself grow nostalgic and melancholic. Leading to a teary eyed late night rest. May the franchise be remembered and be given good heartful mind.
They could've had a thing going if they kept on with this series, and also don't directly compete with Pokemon... I mean, Palworld actually copied a few designs, but the gameplay is EXTREMELY different and it worked well for them. Spectrobes could've still been a thing now days if they tweak it a little
The only thing I remember about the second DS game - and it's entirely possible I'm misremembering givien I haven't played it since 2009 - is that you barely need to grind early on. Like you see how many enemies are on the overworld and you think "Oh, I'm prbly gonna have to defeat at least half of these guys just to avoid being underleveled". But nah, you'll be fine 'til at least the 4th visitable planet.
Considering that the mascot character for this "pokemon killer" looks like a Garden of BanBan character, yeah its no wonder nobody's ever heard of it. Creature design means a LOT for a creature collector and if thats the devs best foot forward, yeah no im good.
Genuinely i think they could have brought it back if they did a fourth game on the 3ds. The DS games were already pushing the DS in terms of graphics i feel like they would have hit it out of the park with a 3DS entry.
I've heard about it. Joke. I inhaled the complete second game of Spectrobes. Beyond the portals is one of my childhood games (btw. It is a monster taiming game. Not a pokemon clone. The creatures would never be regular pokemon and the fighting system is completely different)
the closest thing they had was the webisodes. Even then, a proper cartoon with some more budget and a new story would've gone further. Even something like Dinosaur King did that right
had this stayed on ps3 they might still be new games. spectrobes, pokemon, the 2 time ff tride 3 if count kh2 summons like i do, and the like are are all photon based lifeforms
I never got to beat the first two games cuz someone stole my DS case which had them in it. Then I only ever rented the Wii game so never go to finish that either, but I remember it being really hard at the stage I stopped at. Maybe someday 'll get back to it lol
When you look at it from outside Pokémon's strength was 90% marketing and nostalgia pandering Objectively the franchise is very steeped in corporate greed (multiple versions of what's essentially the same game) cutting corners, and bad optimization What other franchise releases the same game twice at the same time, then the same game with minor fixes, and get flack for that but still sell like it's a cure for cancer
Spectrobes had some of the most peak monster design in any franchise. The setting was rad as hell too.
I legit thought it was going to be a documentary about a serial killer that has a passion for pokemon
Or left Pokemon merchandise behind.
How did I not think that was going to happen
@@Sunflower41XD clickbait!

I remember playing this when I was a kid. Trying to remember it was like remembering pokemon while dying of a head wound.

49:44 i love that part were orbius is like
"it's orbin' time"
and the orbs all over those guys
When I saw this Thumbnail, I thought there was going to be a new game! That's how nostalgic this game was to me.
Spectrobes was pretty awesome. Never played the wii sequel though
there was a Wii sequel?

@@Elliasal yup, pretty different style to the gameplay, which makes sense for the wii
Me, I am the pokemon killer, they taste excellent grilled
Team Rocket? That you?
no give them back man
@@Sunflower41XD It's too late. They ate them. 😔
A sunflower spectrobes video, we have reached peak life

Now do beyond the portals. The comparison between the two is always interesting.
That's cause portals is legit better in every way

I loved this game growing up i had just never remembered what the title was.
yo awesome, what a blast from the past. great video !
I had spectrobes beyond the portals. Game was well made but man it was too grinding to collect and train spectrobes.
Just played Origins a few days ago. I felt myself grow nostalgic and melancholic. Leading to a teary eyed late night rest.
May the franchise be remembered and be given good heartful mind.
This video can not have been watched by anyone who did not have access to this video before it was released right now
So real
Ooooooooooooomg .. thank you ! I’ve been trying to remember the name of this game for so long 😭.
I still actively play this game
Dude I loved Spectrobes
Never heard of? Spectrobes is a classic, had both the first and second game, and i think i rented the third at one point
I’ve been trying to remember the name of this game for nearly 5 years.
Yes this game was pretty fun Disney was doing good once
Yea this looks more close to digimon than Pokémon
wake up honey sunflower posted a new vid about an obscure thing i know nothing about!!

I got this game as a kid, not knowing what the hecl I was getting into. Weird game. Fun time.
Thanks for letting me revistit my childhood!
Cheers for watching and giving a "thanks"! It's very appreciated I may do a video on the sequel in the future
I played Spectrobes so much and I loved the digging minigame
Loved this game as a Kid, I still have the disk sitting in my shelf.

I have all 3 these games
Beyond the portals takes the bosses to new size it'd be interesting to see you cover
I HEARD OF THIS GAME ALRIGHT BRO I HAVE IT FOR MY DSI 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
I legit thought it’s a weird analog horror about a Pokémon serial killer, and the protagonist has to catch them.
Loved these games as a kid, thanks for reminding me
Genuinely i think they could have brought it back if they did a fourth game on the 3ds. The DS games were already pushing the DS in terms of graphics i feel like they would have hit it out of the park with a 3DS entry.
I wish there would be a new one coming, loved and finished every game multiple times
I loved this game
Hey i gew up on this game it's under rated but hasn't aged the best
It's still good though
Spectrobes, my childhoods. I still got all three games although the charger for my 3DS went missing. Fuck Palworld and give us Spectrobes back.
I vaguely remember it, but I had no idea the picross guys developed it
I've played this game a lot. i loved just how weird the krawls looked.
It killed Pokémon so badly that we didn't even heard about it.
Oh i thought it was an analog horror
Ah man, I loved these games as a kid
I've heard about it. Joke. I inhaled the complete second game of Spectrobes. Beyond the portals is one of my childhood games (btw. It is a monster taiming game. Not a pokemon clone. The creatures would never be regular pokemon and the fighting system is completely different)
In still in absolute shock that they didn't do a Spectrobes cartoon to tie in with this.

Ah yes.
Trying to "Kill Pokemon"
a typical move by Disney.
hes back 😃
And yet... It never got to survive the three game cycle
I loved this game more than pokemon as a kid. So sad it didnt continue.
So basically fossil fighter but better, go it, thanks! ;D
I hoped you would touch on Origins as it is one of my fav Wii games. I can only recommend it.
when I was a kid I had a crush on professor wright, man
Please also do a review on the second game. Sadly i could never get my hands on it
I never played the first game, but man, I love the second game!

Holy shit you've just unlocked a floodgate of memories of my childhood in Mexico. I hate you lol thanks and good job on the video
Ive played and beaten all of these. The Wii one was tight
Can you do a video on the sequels behold the portals and spectrobes origins?
I'd really like to some time in the future
Hank Shraders favourite game
Its sad but I too would not trust Disney nowadays with this. I actually have this game on my backlog for a while now.
If Disney was smart they would bring this back
god I miss this game
it misses you too :( go and visit and say hi to it every now and again
I hope there's no De Blob 2 on wii killer
I started on wii game till years later found the ds one
Yeah, it sure did kill Pokémon
one of my favorite nitendo games
Nah i own multiple copies of spectrobes, was the first ds game i ever got
stay safe
7:48 it Pokemon are like this i will play it because I'm TIRED OF TURN BASED DAMMIT
I love this game
Haber antes de empezar el vídeo esto es un Pokémon killer cuando lo más probable es que nadie sepa de su existencia 🤨🤨🤨
if it was released on ps3 it coulda hve been something i think
My child hood
oh i heard of it and i played it lol
epic!!!11
Palworld already beat Pokemon.
Sounds more fun than it actually looks 🫣
Just another game that did not killed shit xD
