The REAL Key To More Consistency in Your Golf

- Centered contact is a crucial element in the game of golf. When a golfer strikes the ball, the goal is to make clean contact at the centre of the club face. This ensures that the energy from the swing is transferred efficiently to the ball, resulting in more predictable distance and accuracy. When contact is made off-centre, the shot may suffer from loss of power, direction, and control. Additionally, off-centre hits can cause the clubface to twist, leading to undesirable spin and unpredictable ball flight. Therefore, developing the ability to consistently make centered contact is a fundamental skill for any golfer who wants to improve their performance on the course. It requires practice and technique refinement, but the benefits of hitting the ball flush are well worth the effort.

Thanks so much Ron! I have been looking for some good drills to practice inside. Will set up this one today!
amazing lesson once again. thank you for the continued advice.
I'm very appreciative of your instruction Mr. Cheney.
Thank You.
That face tape is great. I put it on my driver & a couple of my more used irons before I go out to play.
My irons are worn in the center and the putter I won many of tournaments with has the sweetspot worn out after 15+ years and my newer putter has a little wear after 3 years. The irons wear out a lot quicker, this is my third set of the same irons in 13 years and 3 years I didn’t even play because of injuries, this last set only has 2 seasons on them and they’re quite beat. I also hit hundreds of balls a day when I’m playing and practice a lot more than most. My hands are permanently calloused and never get sore like they would when I was a kid.
I found the centre of the face more often today because of your grip lesson. The neutral grip gave me confidence to aim straight at target rather than work the ball right to left. The KBS shafts -“$taper lite” on my irons are more stable, so the combination of shaft and grip worked well today. Thanks Rob
Where are your wear marks? That got me. Haha back to practicing.
Thanks for the great demonstration! Very useful information and drills that I will take to the range and use.
you can also use foot spray...
Great video full of good information. 👍
Excellent demonstration and suggestions Rob on how to attain consistency in hitting the center of the clubface. I am very cognizant about my set up to the ball and where the clubface is in relationship to the ball. If these are maintained throughout the swing, I will strike the ball properly. After I strike the ball, I will check to see where the markings are on the clubface in order to make adjustments! All good advice Rob! Always enjoy your input!!!
Hey Rob, thanks for the tip! my iron has improved a lot since switching to snt. Do you know if there's any SnT instructor in Melbourne? Would love to learn more.
I believe Scott Barr in Perth is the only one in Australia, which is a bummer. Other options are online teaching.
Which is reliant on the quality of how you record yourself.
Good luck and happy golfing 👍
I am not even going to attempt this! The boxes would be flying all over the driving range ...
Rob, in your backswing does the pressure on the front foot increase or stay the same 55%?
Instead of two boxes you could use two empty ball sleeves. Something every golfer should have.
Is there different distances between the toe and middle and heel strikes that the ball travels off of an iron
A good swing is key to solid ball striking but proper professional club fitting is also essencial for consistency. "Puring" shafts when assembling the clubs is also important because of manufacturing tolerances but i wonder how many of the mass market brands incorporate that step in the assembling process.
This is relevant to consistency. i nearly shanked my driver this arvo, right off the toe and way up on the face, having back issues so i think my body is guarding the said injury. Had a laugh as the ball hit a tree and bounced out, put the next one into the bloody Dam!
I’m subscribed and love your videos but this one I don’t get. The boxes are going to tell you whether or not you are consistently able to deliver the club at nothing in the video talks about what causes inconsistency. The face tape and the boxes seem to do the same thing that is tell you where on the face you’re striking the ball. What I would like to know is why the inconsistency of ball strike happens.
