So glad I found your podcast. I've been listening to points and card related content for a while but you guys are so much fun to listen to! Since none of my friends and family actually care about this stuff (until it's time to take the trip), I feel like I'm amongst friends when I tune into your podcast. Also the level of diversity and varying viewpoints you guys exhibit is a breath of fresh air in this space!
Hi and THANK YOU for your comment. It really helps reinforce what we are doing. Individually, we have the same problem where our friends and family don't care (until the actual trip haha). We came together because it's fun talking about it with like-minded people and no one else was doing it. Thank you for being here and for sharing. We have more great content to come!
Stumbled into your videos in the past week, and I'm really enjoying them! You all have great chemistry with each other and seem relatable and rather down to earth, even if you all are flying lie flat 😄
Hi and thank you for tuning into our show! We have fun with each other. We also fly economy and (gasp!) low cost carriers! In fact, Mitch flew Spirit (no big comfy seat) this past weekend. Stay tuned for that show! Haha!
@@LetsGetToThePoints [Man blinking GIF] Definitely will look out for that one!
Friday mornings watching your podcast is the best start of my day!
I will choose the 1 million Amex points trip by Miguel!😊
We love how we are a part of your Friday morning routine! More great stuff to come, including next week which we are VERY excited about!
I think Serena’s trip wins. My only suggestion is the change of destination. Instead of Ishigaki, go to Miyakojima (will be there for Memorial Day Weekend) at the new Hilton Resort they opened up last summer; I also believe they have an FHR hotel there as well. If you are going to visit Norway, do it in the summer. I have visited Oslo, Trondheim, and Tromso. Norway in the summer is by far the most beautiful country I have seen (fjords, geisers, food, beer, etc.)
Now for the one million Hilton points (my wife and I together have 1.2 million) and we continue to save up for a Maldives trip once the kids are out of the house. Furthermore, we are also going to spend quite a few points on a New Zealand/Australia trip next Christmas/New Years.
Phenomenal show!
Great suggestions about Miyakojima and Norway! Let us know which Hiltons you are looking at in Australia and New Zealand. Hilton wins in the Maldives. That will be quite the trip when the kids move out. It’s a great trip to look forward to.
Hi Carlos. Your comment never made it to our most recent show but we got an email about it. Responding here since we can't find your original comment for Show 53. Glad you had a great time in Miyakojima! For your seats.aero alert: Create Alerts/For Specific Routes/SMS/Select all the mileage programs you have/Departing Airports TYO/Arriving Airports ANZ (for Australia/New Zealand). If there is a lot of competition for this route, your best bet is snagging JAL through Cathay Pacific as soon as the calendar opens. This will not be captured on any alert. You'll have to search this manually on Cathay's website and be sure to nominate your family members ahead of time to book for everyone. Best of luck! See you during the next show!
@@LetsGetToThePoints I appreciate the assist. Thank you! Will keep y’all posted on when I snag me some award space for next year’s big trip.
I would pick Nicole’s trip to Oman.
If I had 1 million points, I would definitely take several ANA around the world trips with my husband - one month at a time.
That’s a great use of points! To have something to look forward to every month would be heavenly! 😍
Normally, I listen to the latest Friday episode on my drive to work. Today, I enjoy it on my flight to Punta Cana! I downloaded the episode from the lounge too! 1M points episode!!
Nicole, Oman, let's go!!
Yes!!!! Thanks for listening to us on the way to Punta Cana! Are you headed to Ziva or Zilara?
@@LetsGetToThePoints Hyatt Zilara, loving it so far, got the Globalist suite upgrade. Is it up to par to Mitch's lux standards?
Enjoy your trip! All Inclusives are so nice because you never have to worry about the check. :)
@@LetsGetToThePoints none of those Bahamar price gauging lol!
1,000,000 points! What a dream right?! I’d combine Nicole and Mitch strategies and be gone for a month somewhere🎉
And have some left to donate 👏🏼👏🏼
Great plan! It always feels good to know we are helping people too! ❤️
Ohhh lots of ideas from the 1M points what would you do. I totally forgot about Nanuku may be bookable with Hilton points possibly in the future. I hope they announce the SLH hotels being bookable soon.
We hope Hilton makes SLH properties bookable soon too! These would be great uses for Hilton Free Night Awards!
QR releases 2+ saver seats in J? I've been looking for routes where QR does for ages and have not found anything. Or, is this assuming 2 saver + 2 flexi?
It’s random with no particular pattern. For Nicole’s scenario, she’s assuming 4 saver seats, which is possible if you’re flexible and can position. We use seats.aero to find QR seats.
If you book through a credit card’s portal for a hotel, is it also included in the category of third-party bookings with Expedia, Travelocity, etc?
I have heard that airlines will still let you accrue miles for bookings via the portals of Chase, Capital One, Citi, and American Express, but I wasn’t sure if it would also apply to hotels
Portals are considered third parties and in most cases you would not earn loyalty points or perks for hotel bookings. An example of an exception is Fine Hotel and Resorts in the Amex portal.
Great episode! wanted to share my way of spending 1M miles/points on a recent trip I took with my family last Winter from the states to Asia:
120K Singapore (Coach X 4) miles from LAX to NRT
90K Hyatt points (3 nights/2 rooms) at Hyatt Regency Tokyo
60K Alaska Miles (15K pp on Starlux Biz) from NRT to TPE
120K Hyatt points (4 nights/2 rooms) at Grand Hyatt Taipei
200K points (2 nights/2 rooms) at Kimpton Taipei
40K Air Canada miles (Coach X 4) to fly EVA from TPE to HKG
30K Hyatt points at Hyatt Centric Hong Kong
160K Marriott points at Ritz Carlton Hong Kong
280K Asia miles (Cathay Biz X 4) from HKG to LAX
Get to take family see the world and experience multiple airlines (premium and economy cabins) as well as different brands of hotels with very little cash out of pocket, the best kind of vacation!
Thank you for sharing, Michael! What an amazing family vacation. I’m sure you made memories to treasure forever. This is worth all the points!
Please tell us what you thought about the Kimpton Taipei vs GH Taipei. We don’t hear many people talk about Kimpton. Let us know if it’s worth a visit.
Kimpton Taipei is a good/solid property in terms of location (super convenient), friendly young staff that's willing to help, and the Kimpton vibes carries throughout the property as well! It's a much smaller hotel compared to GH Taipei. The downside is rooms are on the smaller side and facilities such as fitness is not as "fancy" as bigger hotels. I liked it, but my kids like GH better :)
Great input. Thank you for sharing!
Always entertaining to see folks thinking they are winning against the Bank.
We never said we were winning against the bank. We are winning at LIFE! ❤️
Oman 🇴🇲 - my birthplace and home country ❤❤. My family lives there
Hi! Thank you for commenting! Please let us know your favorite places in Oman to visit. 🇴🇲
@@LetsGetToThePoints Muttrah, Muscat, Jabal Akhtar, Nizwa, Sur, Salalah are some of the places which are must visit
Thank you for the tips!

Watching this episode as I am unpacking from my Cabo trip 🥲. Need a vacation from vacation 😂
Oh, this episode is fantastic! I'm struggling to pick the best travel itinerary because they're all so incredible. While I'm firmly in team Hyatt, I do have some Hilton points just waiting to be used, making Anguilla a tempting option.
We ALSO need a vacation from a vacation!!!! Zemi Beach House looks fantastic. We think you will love it. Let us know where you end up.
I need another Grand Tour 3 month venture in Europe with AMEX ponts. It has been too many years since the last one of 2006.
Sounds like you are due for one! And we are jealous because it sounds amazing!
@@LetsGetToThePoints A project of this nature takes at least a year if not two to put together. So when I heard that Turkish Airways was doing a flight service between Denver and Istanbul... I was thinking about the Orient Express Train from Turkey to France, with stop overs in between. Then taking the Cunard QE2 From France to NY on the way back. Since I have lived for 14 years in Europe and know three languages fluently, I am game for my last big Hurrah in Europe and meeting up with Relatives or Friends.
Sounds like fun! Planes, trains, and ships oh my!!!
@@LetsGetToThePoints In part it has to do with nostalgia, my first remembered long distance travel adventure was from Basel, Switzerland to La Harve, France. There boarding the SS United States and landing in Brooklyn, NY 5 days later. I also got to celebrate my 5th year Birthday Party aboard ship, second day out. Then on another occasion I also traveled with the Queen Mary from England to Brooklyn, NY a few years later.
The movement of rail traffic throughout Europe is central to commerce and trade. The usage of Rail Passes such as the Deutsche Bahn, Swiss Rail Pass ,Trans European Express allow for multiple stops and starts along your travels itinerary. I like train transport, because you get to see more of the country and areas you travel through. Then also some rail tickets and local public transport tickets may also allow for reduced or free visits to areas of interest.
As far as those AMEX points and travel tickets, some how, over all of the years of travel, and no matter what country, their Agents saved the day for me more than once.
Another great video and I will be spending around 1 million points in two trips from SFO(Nairobi and Dubai). We will be going to Masai Mara but would not fly Egyptian Airlines as their reviews are not good. And going thru Cairo is also not pleasant. Many many better options to fly to Nairobi.
Sounds like great trips! Let us know which route and airline you end up going with!
@@LetsGetToThePoints Really appreciate the response! Turkish Business Class from DEN-NBO, positioning flight from SF to DEN as Turkish uses A350 from DEN so better/newer, 1-2-1, business class compare to their 777, 2-3-2.
We will fly either Turkish(again), Emirates, Air France to Dubai or fly Qatar (Qsuite) to Doha and then to Dubai. We just flew Qsuite in December to India and back and now our fav business class. Let me know if this is something you all would do. Any tips/suggestions are hugely appreciated.
Those are great choices and we would absolutely fly all of those products. For all products, use seats.aero to search for availability or set alerts. Great options for booking are Aeroplan/LifeMiles for Turkish, Aeroplan/Emirates for EK, Air France/Delta/Virgin for AF. For QSuites, plan for a long layover for more lounge time in Al Mourjan.
@@LetsGetToThePoints Thank you so much!
