    • Historical Development...
In this video, final Part, late Ustad Bahram Baig so nicely describes about the educational and sociopolitical conditions during and after Hunza State Eras and related issues. Those who are researchers, development professionals, students of historical development and the like would find such videos based on fieldwork would find the contents highly productive.
To remind, Late Ustad Bahram Baig son of Zarik Jon (actual name as Hazar Baig) belongs to Reshit, Chipursan valley of Hunza. According to his official document, he was born in 1945. His family is known as Din Ali Kutor. His grandfather Khalifa had migrated from Passu to Chipursan.
Late Ustadh Behram Baig champions in many fields. He stood to be among the first local teachers in the whole upper Hunza valley, when there was no literate person available in the area in the 1950s. After getting his primary education in 1954 from Gulmit, the Secretary of Hunza State, late Col Ayash Khan, recommends him to his brother Mir Muhammad Jamal Khan, the last ruler of Hunza State, to appoint him as the teacher for Chipursan valley. He thus becomes a youngest teacher in the Aga Khan Diamond Jubilee Primary School of Res̃hit in 1956.
With the course of time, along side his employment as a competent teacher, late Ustad Bahram Baig also pursues his educational mission and in 1982, he gets his BA degree from Allama Iqbal Open University, Islambad. On August 15, 2005, he gets his retirement when he turns to be 60 years old.
He served and led series of community organizations of his area in different capacities and on different positions. A highly important aspect of his contributions could be seen in line with his Wakhi poetry, especially in devotional and social realms. He has also composed some poetries in Urdu.
Though, late Ustad Bahram Baig is no more with us in this world today, his humerious expressions, his genuine contributions in development of the community and his literary contributions to his culture and language will always remain alive. May God, the Almighty, bless and elevate his beautiful soul with a highest position in the heavens.
Thanks to my friend Aafiyat Nazar, a gradulate of Aga Khan University, Karachi and a former education professional, for the sincere effort to document the memories of senior citizens like late Ustodh Bahrom Beg of Chipursan valley, Hunza. I am indebted to him for providing me the videos out of his fieldwork as a volunteer. This is a wonderful contribution to the Wakhi oral history and literature, indeed.
