Beautiful from start to finish! Growing up in Trinidad West Indies, my Grenadian grandmother made treats from mangoes, cashew fruit, cassava, tamarind, bananas and coconuts...they were all delicious and very labor intensive. All cooked on a coal pot or kerosine stove. Watching this reminds me of my childhood. It all seems so far away as I sit here in a winter wonderland in northern Pennsylvania.
I really like the little brick oven ,because it brings back memories of days gone by when people in the community always bake their breads,cakes and buns in those ovens and they came out perfect . I also admire how she did the banana leaf so that it doesn’t break easily and it’s quite manageable that way because that’s the way we use it in Jamaica. So if there’s ever a time when we should have no electricity and these fancy ovens we can survive.
