Had a 2008 for many many years no issues, sold to a friend with 127K miles and he is going strong also. I think they are a very good solid car. Great highway car.

At 210,000km, I simultaneously had what seemed to be an auto transmission failure (tiptronic still sort of worked), and a major loss of power. Thought it would cost a fortune. They put then diagnostic computer on it and the source of the 'check engine light was a reading of 89C for the fuel input temp... turns to a mouse had chewed the wire ant the fuel sensor was shorting on the gearbox speed sensor. Some solder and heat shrink and it was all fixed.

My old 2008 Santa Fe GLS AWD was arguably the best vehicle I ever owned. Great ride, quiet cabin, decent mileage, and solid reliability had it serve as an excellent family and trip car for many years. I bought my ‘08 used w/50k miles on the odometer, then went on to own that thing for another 15 years and another 150k miles. It went all over the US and Mexico, it went off roading far more than it should have, it took heaps of abuse and was poorly maintained by people I lent it to for months or years at a time.
Through all that, the only major work I ever had to do was replacing the timing belt (twice), and replacing oxygen sensors at various times. Also did radiator and transmission flushes, replaced differential fluids, tires, spark plugs, shocks and struts, all the usual stuff you do for any aging car.
Overall I can’t complain. The bang per buck equation on this car, the amount of satisfaction and functionality the Santa Fe gave us compared to the paltry amounts of money I put into it, has made this car my personal best purchase of all time.

I have a 2008 with 183,000 miles. I changed the timing belt, water pump..etc at 98,000. I flushed and changed the transmission fluid at the same time. Only other thing I did was change the plugs at 98,000 miles. Changing the plugs cost me $300 because of where they are located. Runs like it did when new. Should I change the transmission fluid again. Transmission never a problem

I got a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 crdi 2009 with 200.000 km. Engine does not burn a single drop of oil. Just replaced a radiator and control arms and a couple minor things like thermostat. These cars are build like tractors

Good information thank you making the video. Please Note for future videos, speak slower and clearer as I had the audio set to full and could not make out the details of what was being said, until I read the comments and was reminded to try turning on subtitles, this helped. Awd fails due to the spline coupling between the gearbox and front transfer case turning to dust. Still works fine as a fwd van though. So I'm happy

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2007 model . I got lot of engine oil leak . I have changed the head gasket . But still problem is it . Mechanic said you should have to change main seal . But i don’t think leakage come from there . I recently changed the whole transition and seal to . Can you give some suggestions thanks

Send your car to wash the engine.. Use it for couple of days, and see which part the leak comes from..

    • @VINCENT-2002

      Got the same problem.
Leaking engine oil between gearbox and engine. If you have this problem you need to change the rear main seal. They also have common problems with front main seal at crankshaft pulley.
If its around the camshaft cover and you changed it leak can also come from camshaft seals. Oil dipstick O-ring can leak. Turbo inlet or drain pipe o rings can leak
