Easily one of my favourites too! I actually combined two Tineke's together, but just encouraged the pink/reddish leaves - but I can imagine combining a ruby and tineke would look like such an amazing hybrid! Would love to see the results!!!
Hi Cindy! Thanks so much - appreciate you watching, this was one of my earlier videos so the audio was terrible, so my apologies 🙊 Here if you ever wanna talk planty ☺️🌱
Omg the same thing happened to both of mine. I bought a tineke and a dark green maroon ficus last year, and the leaves started dropping like crazy 😭 but now I put them outside since its summer and they both are growing like crazy now 😊.
Great video James! When I saw you started making videos I instantly thought youre the Aussie Crazy Plant Guy 🤣 and his video popped up straight after this one so I think it's a sign lol. Can't wait to see what other plants you've got too!
Oh my gosh, Lucy!!! HOW ARE YOU!? Amazing to see you on here, of course, I've just subscribed and would love to see more of your content! Thanks so much, I'm embarking on weekly uploads on some exciting plant content, so stay tuned! Thanks so much for commenting!
Thankyou Ahmad! Really appreciate it - sorry the audio was a little bad in this 😅 was my second ever video and I was still learning how to shoot videos haha. If you're celebrating, merry Christmas and have an amazing new year!
@@saskbownb no worries - very simple answer is MOAR SUNLIGHT! Variegated plants tend to revert when they don’t get enough light, so it’s likely that the spot you’ve got your plant in, hasn’t got enough! ☺️
Just purchased mine today. It’s is even more beautiful in person. Maybe I missed how often you water it? Thank you for letting us know about the sunlight. I hope that I’m able to give it what it needs.
Amazing!!! Your watering schedule will highly depend on your environment / climate - as a rough guide only, I water mine once every 1.5-2 weeks, but it really depends. Give it a nice bright spot and it'll reward you for it 😊
Hi David - I personally don’t use them myself for the tineke but I have heard of people successfully using them! Not sure what your setup is like, but hopefully you have enough space for it to grow over time ☺️
I'm glad you found me too! Thanks for your watching 😊 no stress, just give it some time to settle into your new home in a sunny bright spot (don't be alarmed if you get some leaf drop, even for a couple of months or so, totally normal while it's getting used to it) and let it dry between waterings. Let me know how you go 😊🌱
Also- hard for me to tell what the cause could have been from the shop without seeing it as browning can be from a number of factors, but no worries now that you've brought it home!
I have mine about 1.25 m from a south and east facing windows. it has been growing like crazy. do you know have to promote them to branch? I am so nervous to try and cut it if that's only going to stop it from growing.
Oh that sounds amazing if you've got yours growing like crazy! I wouldn't worry too much in that case, if anything, cutting it is only going to promote more growth from the point where you cut it, as long as it's happy and you continue doing what you're doing (as it sounds like you're doing the right thing!) Keep me posted 😊🌱💚
Hi Vickey - one of my nurseries was having a sale and sold one for $15, so I jumped at the opportunity and combined it with the one I already had at home. That way, it looks extra full! Hope that helps ☺️
Hi! It will totally depend on your environment (placement, lighting conditions, airflow) - as a rough guide, I water mine 1.5(spring/summer)-2 weeks(winter/autumn) depending on the season
How long ago was your last repot? I find that my leaves tend to get a bit smaller as it outgrows the pot and generally needs a nutrient refresh in the substrate ☺️🌱
@@simpleplanty bc it has received too much sun it lost its variegation.ive heard low light and too much (direct light )is gonna fade its color.its still a rubby
Love the tips! It's one of my favourites! I'm going to be a copycat and will combine my ruby and tineke just like yours LOL!

I just combined 1 4' tall tineke branch with 2 3' tall ruby branches, it looks so good together
Great Video!!

That sounds amazing, Chelli! I do find ficus' absolutely love light, so they must be loving it outside in the summer. Happy to hear 😊🌱
Thank u for share I love this plant too so beautiful and easy to take care
Thankyou! I really love this plant too - thanks for your comment and have a great rest of week! ☺️
This makes me want to buy a Ficus Tineke now!

Do artificial light works on ficus tineke? Like the LED light used for growing plants?

Why is my ficus tineke rubber plant having black tips?
Hi Corine! Without seeing a photo, my best guess here is overwatering - I actually have my tineke more on the 'drier' side. Hope that helps! 😊🌱
Ok
Ok 👌 🍀
That looks like rubby not tinike
