Dude THANK YOU!!!! I’m not even trying to jailbreak my iPod I just wanted to use it for music but I was locked out of it because I forgot my password. I was getting stuck on so many levels but you pointed me in the right direction. I ended up setting up a VM with windows 7 and FINALLY was able to restore my iPod! Thank you much love

Thanks for showing the setup past initially jailbreaking it, lol. I followed another tutorial for the first leg since I don't have a mac, finally was able to get it working today and was worried I would majorly mess something up afterward lmao.
If anyone is having any issues on PC with it not recognizing or what not, check to see if after you installed itunes that you also had the Apple Mobile Device Support program (about 15.5 MB) installed, I don't remember having it on mine the last time I tried, but I got it working this time with it.

Computer science? Coding frustrates the living hell out of me. I would genuinely rather get into a fistfight with the biggest guy in my school than have to code for a living.
Minor code, like OpenCore EFI’s and that sort of stuff required for the projects I enjoy is fine but if I got into the field of Computer Science and somehow landed a job at a company developing programs, everything I would end up being as glitchy as iOS 16.
I would much rather have a job fixing devices than have a job where I’m expected to code. I would rather have a job routing fiber or mounting cell equipment for a major cell provider (granted that provider isn’t Bell, then I would be doing nothing because their network SUCKS) than have a job in coding.

The last thing I ever jailbroke was my iPod touch 4g I think I helped jailbreak a 5s or something newer but that was it. Honestly I think they should improve and make the old jailbreak programs easier ( i believe they have over time ) or atleast make one tool that supports all all devices
That’ll probably never happen. Each device may have its own way of jailbreak
@@tornow1500 i remember back in the day you legit needed to do like 10-15 steps to jailbreak your device now it’s less like 3-4 steps

did u uninstall the apple mobile device support before installing the old itunes? cuz that also needs to be uninstalled
so i tried to install the old itunes but it just said the file could not be opened because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Please help me out
sorry, How did you manage to get past the warnings and open the program? No matter how hard I try, I can't open it on Mac.
It’s insane really. They give you a bunch of different warnings that you have to go to Settings>Privacy and click “Open Anyway”
If I don't have another system to be able to use a non-5g hotspot, what can I do?
cannot restore mine. keep getting error 1611. tried all usb ports and changed the cable 3 times already. the device is useless for now. any tips?
Try reinstalling iTunes, or try a different computer

Try re-downloading the software

mtmdev(On device), or if that fails just search up the .ipa for the game or app on Google and install it through iFunBox
Hey, dude. Thanks for the tutorial. I did however run into several issues. The first one being I can't install iTunes 9. It fails when trying to start up the iPod Service. I also remember having issues after getting iTunes to install, where the "iTunes must be installed" error shows up during the start of the jailbreak phase. Any solutions that you know of? Thanks!
Try to do the process in a Windows 7 VM and installing iTunes 9 there
The jailbreak doesn’t work for me. All the sources are blank, it doesn’t ask me to update cydia, whenever I refresh sources it’s stuck on “done packages” and the same thing happened when I install packages, when I install deb files, it’s not installed correctly.
Try restoring via iTunes and try again.

@@tornow1500I just fixed the problem by deleting the repos, reinstalling them, and upgrading Cydia
i used a windows 7 VM and i still get the itunes 9 or above error

I'm trying to do this on Mac OS (Sanoma) but when ever i get to the part where its ment to run the jailbreaking tool it keeps saying that it can run because its from an "Undentified developer" even when I go into settings and say that I want to run it, can you help?
Yeah, you have to go into Settings to approve for every one of those stupid frustrating prompts. It’s really agonizing and I recommend a secondary monitor☠️
@@tornow1500 oh, ok. I have secoundary mointer but even then it really wouldn't work when I told it to run. In the end I just used windows and it worked just fine, I acctully decided to jailbreak ios 15.2 as well.
it Reminds me when the jailbreak would disconnect from my iphone3gs and refuse id scream
but then take a day brake and it oddly worked.
the best cydia tweak was EnableHDR my 3gs worked well using it to get the ipodtouchs new photo hdr and
later on there was a tweak to Adding Siri to an unsupported device like the 3gs

i got youtube to work not long ago, just changed some build number to the latest one in the files and it worked, a lot of the ui is missing but does play videos and i signed in.

im trying to figure out why its not working but i think when my ipod reboots it disconnects and it messes everything up, ill try a few more times. It keeps dissapearing after "performing magic"

So my ipod touch 4 gen used to be my aunt's ipod before she moved to america years ago, we forgot the password, resseted it and no one let me jailbreak it, now I did and this is gonna be a pretty good era as she's returning this Christmas. Thanks for all your work and inspiration you brought to us nostalgics...

Delete the iTunes folder or rename it

Great! Everything is in place after your guidelines and i can use again my old ipod. But unfortunately i was able to load music via itunes only the first time... The next day i was not able to load anything and itunes cannot see my ipod anymore...Any suggestion?

im on windows it isnt recognizing my device it just says plug in a device to begin
now it says waiting for device to reboot dont know if thats referring to the ipod or the computer, tried it with the ipod and nothing happened
Weird, did Cydia show up on the iPod after the reboot? If not, just restore the iPod with iTunes and try it again…

@@debutriah Then try force shutting down the iPod, close P0SIXSPWN, then going into recovery mode, restoring the iPod with iTunes and trying the process again
the weirdest thing just happened i reset my ipod touch and now the app store loaded

i have a ipod touch 5th generation that i used when i was growing up. i had lost it but found it recently but the icloud and the backup on it were both security locked. i tried contacting apple but to no avail. do you know if there is a way that i can bypass the activation lock?
Oh lord, I don’t know. There should be ways but they’re not guaranteed to work and you won’t have any Apple services on it

In the Settings app, you have to give it approval to everything it prompts you to move to trash. So press cancel then go to Settings, Privacy and give it approval. I know it’s agonizing and blood curdling but you’ll get through it eventually.

Rename the file. I had this happen and I renamed that file. And if that doesn’t work then delete it.

Yeah, try turning off Windows Defender’s Real Time Monitoring. That’s my best advice.

I got a problem. I got the jailbreak and the cydia but I had to update some things in cydia. I dont know if this is bad or not. but the main problem is that if i want to install something on mtmdev, at the installation it says it can not install this yet try later. This happens with every app. Do i just wait and try again tomorrow or did i something wrong.

What Windows version are you using? I heard that Windows 7 is better for that.
@@tornow1500 so good and bad news I said fuck it and didn't use iTunes I just jailbreaked it and it worked for the most part I managed to add the source cydia repo but I couldn't add the akemi thing for sideloading apps and I did the whole process on Windows 10 but I have a emulator called virtual box that I use to emulate Windows 7

iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 is probably the most disastrous thing that could have happened to those devices. Almost up there with iOS 9 on the 4S. So I would say performance. The only reason I haven’t downgraded mine is because I have a ton of other devices on older iOS versions, my iPhone 4 on iOS 7 has the old musical.ly app (sorta interesting conversation starter sometimes), and most of all Legacy iOS Kit refuses to work for downgrading the phone☠️

It's getting harder and harder to make the iPod touch 4's IOS versions work, all the guys hosting repos shutting them down and the IPAs feel more buried than ever as links go dead lmao

@@tornow1500 Got everything working fixed the app store WITHOUT the repo and installed ipas of every game i could imagine and pixel gun 3d works so yeah i got it working. Torrent is the method for ipa but no one does idk why. repos just pricy ig

Sorry to hear that. But, I doubt it was, because I've done this on 2 iPods and nothing has happened. It might be a hardware issue.
It’s an issue with the iOS 6 jailbreak unfortunately
the older iphones are now just ipods, kinda sucks considering they were completely usable a few months ago.
Imagine living in the US or Australia. I live in Canada where we still have 3G. Rogers even has EDGE still, but who in their right mind would ever want to use Rogers☠️

Cant even use imessage as apple shut off support for that. I'm wondering if there's a way to spoof imessage or really any other app in order to use it like normal.
iMessage works fine for me other than no encryption and the fact that it breaks group chats
@@tornow1500 ah, i was wondering if that still worked. unfortunately i have cricket (in texas) and they wont even let me use a 5s on the network even though it supports the requirements so i cant use imessage.
i dont spotify works with this method anymore 😔 i cant log in at all or sign up or reset password or even use facebook to login. Have u tried spotify?

Just plug it in and restore it. That’s what I did at the start of the video to demonstrate it
Edit: I figured it out it was my WiFi acting up so I used a hotspot and it worked perfectly!

Is it possible to rip apps off of the iPod? I have infinity blade 2 and 3 and the iPod is decaying and having a hard time running them, and I don’t want to let them go. And if so, is it possible to jailbreak modern iPhones?

Also, you can jailbreak modern iPhone on iOS 16.6.1 or under, you can soft jailbreak A12-A15(iPhone 13 series only) on iOS 16.6.1 and you can hard jailbreak every version of iOS 16.6.1 and under on A11 and under.
yes you can crack your own apps as backups using mobile terminal and Clutch 2.0.4

You can sign into iCloud either way, but the App Store and iTunes Store servers were shut down for iOS 6 and there isn’t a workaround just yet
@tornow1500 this may sound dated, but can you still get Cydia. I haven't jail broken an ipod since 2011.

i dont know how to get the older version of "i fun box" im on windows and i downloaded the classic and everytime i tried to download an ipa onto the ipod, it said it failed and wouldnt download. also when I downloaded the newer version of i fun box, there was no download to device option or i couldnt find it. Can you help me?
Try reinstalling the classic version

Will this allow to move music from one ipod to another, both being 4th gen? And/or upload music ripped from CDs? I know, I'm old lol I have tons of CD's my teenage daughter wants.
So....I got to a point where I plug in my device, but it won't do anything further...
Yeah, you’ll still have to sync music via iTunes, although you can load generic MP3’s not bought off of iTunes within iTunes with a little bit of work (It’s pretty easy)
Try leaving the device on the charger for a bit then attempt plugging it into your PC
so when i jailbroke my ipod everything went through but i dont see the cydia app on my homescreen
You may need to repeat the process
@@tornow1500 yup I did it like 4 times. Ended up my music filled up all 16Gs and had to delete my whole library of music to install all the apps. Now I’m modifying looks and updating my music library. Just can’t seem to get music apps and games to work just yet. But thanks dude. You got me feeling like I’m back in middle school getting $20 to jailbreak everyone’s iPod lol

Unless you have it on a library on your computer, unfortunately no.
So i added both repos but there's nothing in those sections. So i can't install checkmate store. What did i do wrong?
Try re-adding the repos. But honestly, installing Checkmate is kind of pointless because the App Store doesn’t work anyways

You have to go into the Music folder in File Explorer and rename the iTunes folder, then install the older version. Hope this helps!

Hey, would it work with the 8gb model? i was in a rush to get one so i just got the 8gb 😭. Would i be able to run spotify and snapchat?
As far as I know, Snapchat and Spotify will not work as Spotify doesn’t support 32-but device logins anymore. As for Snapchat, maybe? I’ve seen others get it working on versions as old as iOS 8. I have no idea about iOS 6 though.
I encourage that you try though, other than that jailbreaking is a pretty easy and worthwhile process. And tell me if you’re able to log in to Snapchat.
(Also note, if you try Snapchat, try it on a burner account because there is a slight risk of a ban while using old clients)
@@tornow1500 Thanks for the heads up, i’ll have a look if i can find any third party clients for spotify and i’ll let you know if i can find any methods as the ipod arived today.

Try using a Windows 7 VM. Some people have said that works
@@tornow1500 it worked but after jailbreaking it failed and put it in a bootloop i had to use a linux usb to use legacy ios kit to restore and it worked fine
@@9999rpm You can try using Legacy iOSKit for the jailbreak too
