Final Cut plugins are actually terrible. at 0:19 it's supposed to zoom into the app icon but the effect broke in export. I LITERALLY USE IT IN THIS VIDEO MULTIPLE TIMES but that one broke. Oops
My parents gifted me the iPod Touch 2nd gen when I graduated from high school. I still to this day cherish that thing. I will never forget the hours playing Tap Tap Revenge.
I just pulled mine out from storage. Had it since launch and damn this thing was just a work of art. And if you overlook the resolution of the screen it was a true taster of what came shortly after with the handheld smartphone boom of around 2010-12. That era is coming to an end and a shift towards A less neck-arching future awaits.....
The ipod touch 2g was a perfect way to access the advantages of iOS, app store etc. without paying an iphone price. I used to have this (32gb version) as my "smart" device as a university student back in '09, and a sony ericsson vivaz pro as my main phone (great keyboard, awful OS haha). The original intent of the ipod was listening to music but I remember using it for like 95% apps and downloading podcasts. Ah, memories 😊
I had a similar setup back in that era, mostly the same 32gig 2nd gen touch paired with a feqture phone.. Remember having to have a seperate text plan? I had previously owned a long line pf palm os and pocket PCs and finally having a wifi capable device with a decent web browser was amazing lol
Oh man, this was so much fun. The ipod touch 2nd gen was my first apple device and I remember spending so much time playing games like Tap Tap Revenge, Tap Defence, Enigmo, Helicopter etc etc! It was such a cool time for mobile games that we seem to have completely lost to history now. Also the microfibre cloth it came with was so nice
Exactly the same here. I was so excited to get it and was so blown away by it. I remember looking at it thinking “this is a pretty powerful computer that I can fit in my pocket…”
The iPod Touch models I owned was the 4th Generation and then the 5th Generation. Lots of memories with those devices! They were my first two iOS devices.
I remember being 15 and opening one of these bad boys in 2009 on Christmas morning. It was the coolest thing and I still have videos on my YT channel with it to this day.
I had one of these in high school, but the 16GB version. That much space felt infinite back then. That thing came with me everywhere and I ended up using it well past its expiration date with its partial support of iOS 4. I was a fractional update away from getting Xbox Smart Glass and it drove me up a wall.
Soooo you censored your internal IPv4 address at 10:07 but the terminal window with the active SSH connection displays it at the window title lol. Also, you didn't need to censor it in the first place, they're not unique and no one can actually use it unless they're on the same network with you.
Remember the back to school promotion. I bought an iMac and got a free iPod touch. Great deal with 15% or so discount back in the day. However, the first thing I did once I got it: I ignored the 24" iMac and went straight to the iPod touch. It was such a great device, loved it. Feature phone + iPod touch was the most cost-conscious and actually reasonably priced pair of devices, way more "realistic" than buying an iPhone back then.
This iPod touch was my first ever personal Apple device, and the first Apple product in my household. My family always thought their products were overpriced and underpowered at the time, so I saved my own money to buy one for myself (for my 14th birthday). I still remember all of the fun memories this device brought me, and it was the first time I had a real smart-device with internet access in the palm of my hand. Life-changing!
This iPod touch model was my introduction to the Apple magic back in 2008 when it came out! I was 11 years old back then, and my grandma got it for me as a Christmas gift, after my desire. Back then as a kid I didn’t knew how special this was, or even how special Apple was as a company in general. I just knew that Apple had a different logic from the other computer companies (mainly because of the OS), and that their products were more expensive and better somehow. I clearly remember when I got it that I didn’t knew how to activate it. I didn’t knew were to download iTunes. I didn’t even bad a computer back then, and I got to a local electronics store to activate my iPod Touch! Then, my aunt which had a windows laptop back then, helped me to download iTunes on her computer and transferring music on it. Then we discovered the App Store… Bot to mention I didn’t even had WiFi on my home to connect my iPod, and I was connecting to a neighbor’s WiFi which he had it unlocked, and I had to go to a specific corner of my room to get a signal! I still have that iPod Touch. It still works after all those years. Those were the days…
This was the first iPod Touch that I had owned and I loved it! I also loved the cleaning/polishing cloth it came with. I had it in a silicone case since unboxing it and about two weeks later I removed the case to do a thorough cleaning and it already had scratches on the chrome.. Like how?!
Oh my god that air hockey app unlocked a memory I forgot I had! I loved my 2nd gen iPod touch, I bought it off a friend at school secondhand and I'd play a LOT of Tap Tap Revenge on that thing.
I just got a 2nd Gen iPod Touch 8GB + Sony Speaker Dock for $20. What a deal! I just looked at the back and its flawless. No scratches on the stainless steel! Anyway great video.
I used my birthday money to buy myself one after I graduated 8th grade and it stayed with me everyday up until junior year of high school, I still remember the little trick to listen to music on the RUclips app without needing to keep the screen on, tap the home button 3 times then hit the hold button
I remember listening to music on my sister's iPod Mini and then my other sister had the iPod Nano 3g. I also had the iPod Touch 3g and the iPod Shuffle 4g. The last iPod I ever had though was the iPod Nano 6g. The iPod Nano 6g was basically the iPod Shuffle 4g but with a screen and it also had a built in radio that I loved listening to!
Yep, I distinctly remember unboxing this myself in 2008 - this was our very first entry into the iOS ecosystem. My dad was an engineer at Broadcom, the company which created the Bluetooth hardware inside this to support Nike + iPod, and so got one free of charge as his "prize" for completing the project, with the Broadcom logo stamped on the back.
Whatever batteries they used on the iPod touch 2G (MB model in my case) are amazing. Got mine in summer 2009 and somehow it still holds a charge and STILL hasn’t puffed yet. we need more batteries like this!
The ipod touch 2g was the first last and only apple product I ever owned. It was way ahead of its time. I was blown away that I could connect to wifi pretty much everywhere I went that had public wifi. Now fast forward years and I still have it but nothing works but music really. I have a custom OS on it called WhiteD00r which is basically ios 4 with tweaks and a reskin to look like ios 7.
2nd gen ipod was my first iOS device I bought used for app development. It was jailbroken - first thing I did was un-jailbraking it and running test iOS apps. Thanks for the video and a reminder
Yeah , iPod touch was the most afforable device for 3D gaming , and pretty good storage for its time. The best thing was the jailbreak for them , remember that on iOS 3 I managed to change the wallpaper and have multitasking , and cannot forget how many games I installed trough cydia's appysinc , the only downside are the batteries for those things.
I had the 1st gen touch. It was crazy when they added the App Store. It’s kind of crazy to now imagine an ios device with no App Store. But it was useful even before that for music, notes, calculator etc but the App Store was revolutionary.
Believe it or not I actually have one of these that I got for free with purchase of the iPhone way back in the day. It still works, and what’s more, there’s _one_ game it can run: Atari Gunner! I’ve downloaded that and my brother is having a great time playing it lol
I got 2x 1st gen iPod Touch. One of them is in mint condition in its box /matching serial number/, the other one is without box, BUT it runs 1.1.2, which is extremely rare!
I got one for christmas in 2013 by a relative but I already had an iPod touch 4 so I gave it to my sister. 2 years later I lost my iPod at school so had to use it for a week or 2. It was hard to use as it was pretty outdated by then and even the stuff that worked was pretty slow. I couldn’t really appreciate it to its fullest but I’m sure it was awesome when it was new.
Apple ran a promotion back in the day where if you bought a MacBook for college, you got one of these iPods bundled with it. I did exactly that, so, this was my first experience with iPhone OS. Good times!
The battery on mine got so BAD that I ended up punching a hole in it and wiring an external battery onto it. Complete with double sided tape! And DAMN! It worked! And worked well! It was nice to use again! It no longer occasionally boot looped! And then the digitizer's ribbon cable failed. A long, but venerable, career that iPod had. Cheating death so many times. It now sits in one of my many junk drawers.
I remember having one as my first touch device still have it but the speaker headphone jack and battery are gone and I remember using it with a Chinese case that turned it into an iphone and it had everything an iphone had
I have two apple products left in my house at this point, a late 2012 MacBook pro, and a 2007 80gb Classic. I still use the iPod weekly, they should have never stopped making those. I feel like the ipod is going to outlast the MacBook by 5-10 years of usefulness for sure.
I had the cheapest configuration of the iPod Touch that was released when the iPod Touch 3rd gen became available. This was actually a 16 GB 2nd generation model.
My THE first iOS device! I used it until 2014, until buying iPhone 5s! God, when this was first out, WiFi wasn't even a common thing around here, so my RUclips app wasn't even work right. Only Starbucks was place to use it. I still have on in my drawer. Great memories.
@@emilsecker7881 just checked, mine is 16GB model so maybe that helped for longer usage? I got used to it so long i didn't like it when i first got 5s with iOS 7 or later 😅
I still own 1 of these though the metal back is not pristine like yours. Also battery is not holding charge as it use to. I might try to replace the battery but am scared to damage the casing in the process.
Final Cut plugins are actually terrible. at 0:19 it's supposed to zoom into the app icon but the effect broke in export. I LITERALLY USE IT IN THIS VIDEO MULTIPLE TIMES but that one broke. Oops
Final Cut Pro more like Final Cut Broke
Np, might want to double check on your uploads bro. Not saying you should, it’s just good practice.
why not just pull the video and redo it?
Switch to DaVinci Resolve :)
⚠️T
If it came with French and English instructions it’s probably Canadian
I'd agree as well
Or upstate ny. We get that all the time being so close
Yeah that would make more sense
No definitely
It was bought in Canada, June 2009.

This is an insane throwback. Brings me back to middle school when I had the first gen iPod Touch and adding Cydia.
My parents gifted me the iPod Touch 2nd gen when I graduated from high school. I still to this day cherish that thing. I will never forget the hours playing Tap Tap Revenge.
Tap Tap Revenge was the one who kept me alive.

Love these classic unboxings. So much nostalgia. Never had a touch since I already had an iPod 5th gen and iPhone 3G back then.

You can just jailbreak it to iOS 7 it’s more you can put more apps on it
3:16 AirTag also competes for that spot. Also the AirPods case, but it’s less visible
This was the very first Apple device I ever owned so it’s quite nostalgic. This brings me back to simpler times ❤
Yes it is I have a iPod nano a old days
same here :)
same here. my first Apple product too
Exactly the same here.
I was so excited to get it and was so blown away by it. I remember looking at it thinking “this is a pretty powerful computer that I can fit in my pocket…”
Wasn't simpler though lol
The iPod Touch models I owned was the 4th Generation and then the 5th Generation. Lots of memories with those devices! They were my first two iOS devices.
I think I had that exact iPod touch. I remember that metal back getting really hot when playing games.
Hey Luke, since you're watching the comments right now (probably), is the media error intentional at 00:18? (also a quick heads uo)
Nah, accidents happen.
I remember finally opening that very iPod after months of saving in middle school. What a magical time.
I remember being 15 and opening one of these bad boys in 2009 on Christmas morning. It was the coolest thing and I still have videos on my YT channel with it to this day.
_LOVE_ these videos Luke!

ios 4.3? Yeah.

I loved watching Luke’s reflection in the iPod when he first opened it 😭
The way that one vid is missing help 😭😭😭 right in the beginning at the appstore part there’s missing footage
2:58 shouldn't have killed me as much as it did
This is why I subbed to your channel, all the vintage stuff.
The one thing I wish Apple still put in the boxes is that microfiber cloth. Nothing beats that black suede, not even their $30 cloth!
