I'm a 65 year old man, and all of you (living or passed on to another plane of life) are still in my heart every day. Thank you for who you are and all that you have done, and will still do. Be at peace my people.
Lex makes my heart happy by watching her enjoy listening to good music. She was definitely born in the wrong era, she should’ve been a teenager in the 70’s when all this was happening. You two keep on exploring all the different types of music out there and enjoy. Music is the one things that unites us all together.
Now imagine, in the deep woods, huge bonfire going, tons of booze & smoke, gals and Lyn Sky cranked.....and prolly some dudes there that can play these licks , that was a Friday Sat night for us in the late 70's early 80's
Lynyrd Skynyrd is at the top of southern rock for sure. It's mind blowing when you think of all the hits they had in only 5 years of making albums before the plane crash killed the singer and half of the band in 1977.
Blackfoot is a must for you two. Train Train, Highway Song, Left turn on a Red Light are 3 of their most popular!! Highway Song is the BOMB!!! TURN IT UP!!!
If you didn't get to watch this Southern Rock stream, Train Train lost on 3 polls, all against tough competition. Whipping Post, Flirtin' with disaster, and Can't you see, I think. Lex did write it down to do later. Both love Skynyrd, I'm sure they will love Blackfoot.
Very dangerous song to listen to while driving, especially motorcycle. Put a cardo sound system in my helmet and it's nearly impossible to drive the speed limit when that tune comes on
If you wanna jump down the rabbit hole of Southern Rock, a few you can check out . Blackfoot, Rossington Collins Band, 38 Special , Molly Hatchet , Marshall Tucker Band , Allman Brothers It was a GREAT time to grow up. The music was simple and straightforward with a meaning to the song. One thing people don't consider about the older music is there wasn't all of the technology of today to clean up the sound. They were great musicians.
The Allman Brothers Band are a MUST when you are talking southern rock. Molly Hatchet is another southern rock band that is sometimes overlooked (I definitely prefer The Allman Bros. and Skynyrd, but they aren't bad).
The Allman Brothers invented Southern Rock(although not their intention) In truth ABB were more of a blues band but they paved the way for ALL SOUTHERN ROCK bands.
Ed King, Steve Gaines, Alan Collins, and last but certainly not least Gary Rossington. These are some of the best guitar players of all time and they are underrated.
My favorite skynyrd song, so that means my favorite song period! Gary making that guitar cry with the slide.. and any song that has "theres two things you should know, and thats a horsey and a woman you ride" banger!
You hit the nail on the head. Skynyrd is the best when it comes to Southern Rock. Being from New Orleans id like to think I know a little bout the genre. Love the channel.
I will always remember that day when I heard, me and my 2 closest friends sat in my 1962 chevy biscayne listening to Lynerd Skynyrd thru my complete pioneer car audio system and smoking a 1/2 lid, truly broke my heart. RIP to those we lost.
I played bass in a band called Second Helping that covered this song. It’s a definite vibe. “Every night when we leave the Holiday Inn, I see you hangin’ ‘round” They’re both on the hunt. This song has a DEEP groove! Love the channel, Couch Gang!
You have got to hear this live from Winterland I believe the black n white video is from 75, but it is great quality. Ronnie just oozes blues and soul!!! He really was a musical genius!!!
Always loved this swampy, deep-in-th'-pocket tune; maybe this & Free Bird are my faves from Skynyrd...great memories of playing this w/ our throw together union carpenter band back in '79...awesome, classic stuff...
I saw these guys twice back in 1975 and 1977. Great band. All passed away now but we had some great music back in the 70s. I see your AC/DC shirt, and I am amazed they are still rockin in their 70s! Wish I could age like that. thanks for sharing
I'm so glad you guys reacted to this song.. I'm 61 and my brothers 59, and we used to play this song in front of crowds and many people that know Lynard Skynard don't realize that this song is from them, unless they've listened to a lot of their music. I love this song and it's fun fun fun to play live! 💯❤💯🤘🤘🤘 Thanks again guys!
Thanks for playing this song.Iong ago I heard this song and had no idea what it was called and now I know. For other good southern rock music try anything from Molly Hatchet,or “Can’t You See” from The Marshall tucker Band.
Saw Skynyrd in Key Arena, Seattle 1992. Newly married, a continuation of the Tribute tour. Only guitars on Freebird. Rossington, King, Wilkeson, and Powell were joined by lead vocalist Johnny Van Zant and Randall Hall on guitar in place of Allen Collins. He was there because he was introduced to the audience. Curt Custer played drums...according to Wikipedia. Regardless it was awesome.
Grew up with Lynyrd Skynyrd the Outlaws an Molly Hatchet an smoking sensimillia swimming in cool ponds with them beautiful country girls ! God I grew up in the best era's 70s an 80s . Miss dem days 😆
Hey! I'm happy Brad finally found something he liked! Skynyrd is my favorite band! Try: "Workin' For MCA" "Gimme Back My Bullets" "Poison Whiskey" "Needle And The Spoon" "Whiskey Rock A Roller" "Jukebox Junkin'" "Swamp Music" "Double Trouble" "I Know A Little" "Things Goin' On" "Was I Right?" "Tuesdays Gone" "Comin' Home" "Mr. Banker" "Four Walls Of Raiford" "I Need You" Basically ANY and ALL of their songs kill! I really hope you check these out!
In the mid late 80s in the midst of the hair bands reign, this young teen was a LYNYRD SKYNYRD fanatic learning and inspired to play guitar by this band, not the hair bands of my teen years lol
I need you and one more time by skynyrd are awesome tunes....one of the best things you do when you find a band you like is learn about them, rockumentaries are a great way to learn about bands.
That piano sound is rather cool, especially with headphones on - I do believe they call that "tickling the ivories", and Billy Powell was definitely one of the Best at it 🙂✌❤
For some more modern southern rock, I recommend listening to The Black Crowes. Remedy, Twice as hard, Jealous Again or She Talks to Angels would be some obvious hits to start with.
Molly Hatchet !! Another awesome southern rock band. Flirtin' with Disaster is a good starter. A commercial hit for them. They have many awesome tunes !
Brad & Lex, it sure is great to see ya'll reacting to these old classics! More you could do are Gimme 3 Steps or Needle and the Spoon. Gimme 3 Steps is about being wrongfully accused of messing with another man's woman. With Needle and the Spoon, I'd do Live at Winterland 1976. Brad, I know you always feel like you have to do lyric videos, but you'll be able to understand the words clearly without them here and you get to see them play live which is such a great treat. Love ya'll!
One of the hardest working bands of the 60s and 70s and look at all the great music they left us the first band to have three lead guitarist I only live about 50 miles from where their plane crashed
Allman Brothers - Ramblin Man Blackfoot - Train, Train Marshall Tucker Band - Heard It In A Love Song Y’all had a great live the other night!! I love all genres and decades but old southern rock has a definite spot in my heart!!
I recall the day their plane went down less than 40 miles from my house. All the teenagers on my street were crankin' Skynyrd that night and out on the neighborhood streets in a weird somber celebration. I was a bit too young to be heavily into them, but I still remember my older sister's friend crying and lots of confederate flags waving.
Guys you have to check out Molly Hatchet. They were a badass Southern Rock Band. Try: Flirtin With Disaster, Dreams I'll Never See, Gator Country, Fall of the Peacemakers to name a few. If you like Skynyrd, You'll like these guys too. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REACT TO THIS BAND.
Allen College and Gary Rossington are the greatest southern rock guitarists! This song was totally underplayed on the radio when it came out… singing about a beautiful young groupie hanging out hoping to get lucky with one of them
Brad: "I think southern rock has one of the best sounds of any genre that we listen to" I have a whole new respect for you now Bro👍
Might be the smartest things he’s ever said
nah don’t cut this man slack
"well all we've heard is Lynyrd Skynyrd' That's all you really need brother!
RIP Ronnie, Steve, Cassie. 44 years this month since you left this world, but we are still enjoying your music like you never left us.
Oct 20th...The day the music died. R.I.P Freebirds.
And the greatest tribute is that young people are still enjoying their music today.
America needs some lynyrd skynyrd more than ever right now
RIP Ed King

I've still got the ticket stub, and I've been to a lot of shows, but I saw Blackfoot in 83' hands down the best live band I've ever seen
@@richardcranium5048 I saw Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet and The Outlaws in '83. Awesome show!!!
Absolutely, train train and highway song, they don’t get any better than that!
Wishing Well
So many songs by Skynyrd but one of my favorites is Give Me Back My Bullets
"Call Me The Breeze" I keep rolling down the road. Gotta try it. Great song especially when you are going for a drive.
I'll second that! Amazing instrumentation
Very dangerous song to listen to while driving, especially motorcycle. Put a cardo sound system in my helmet and it's nearly impossible to drive the speed limit when that tune comes on
Maybe an original song from J.J Cale too?
The Ballad of Curtis Loew or Call me the Breeze or Gimme Three Steps any pretty much any of their songs!!
Call Me The Breeze is a cover song. They nailed it, but the original by JJ Cale is good too.
Southern Rock is honest, real, relatable...it's life set to a soundtrack.
Ronnie Van Zant, he got that voice, smooth as silk and sweet as syrup, ain’t been another like him since!
Probably the best front man of all time.
If you wanna jump down the rabbit hole of Southern Rock, a few you can check out . Blackfoot, Rossington Collins Band, 38 Special , Molly Hatchet , Marshall Tucker Band , Allman Brothers
It was a GREAT time to grow up. The music was simple and straightforward with a meaning to the song. One thing people don't consider about the older music is there wasn't all of the technology of today to clean up the sound. They were great musicians.
The first 2 songs on The Allman Brothers Debut Album Dont Want you No More/ Not My Cross to Bear you can feel Southern Rock being birthed
This and Searching are two of my favorite Skynyrd songs, neither get much attention but both are really good listens.
My sister from another mother! My favorite two also! Followed by whiskey rock and roller and gimme back my bullets!
And don't forget T for Texas!
Searching is so damn good
Do SEARCHIN off skynyrds live album One More From The Road. Best live album ever and the difinitive versions of their early songs sre on it.
The Allman Brothers Band are a MUST when you are talking southern rock. Molly Hatchet is another southern rock band that is sometimes overlooked (I definitely prefer The Allman Bros. and Skynyrd, but they aren't bad).
They are different
Dont keep me wondering

I feel like the only reason they’re underrated is bc skynyrd had so many guitarists😭
Ronnie is singing about GROUPIES!!! This is one of their best.
It’s about a prostitute
No it’s not about prostitutes it’s about groupies!
@@johnnywil7734 Groupies, Prostitutes...It's all the same. The only dif is one gets paid and the other doesn't. Lol

I recommend their Four Walls of Raiford. It's straight up blues.
Comin' Home by them is 🔥
100%
Gotta love the soft piano intro by Mr. Powel! All of the guys were so in tune with each other. You can hear each instruments. So great
Also one of my other favorite southern bands is of course The Allman Brothers "One Way Out, and Blackfoot "Train Train"
Train Train 4 sure \m/
"Gimme Three Steps" is my favorite Skynyrd song. Very happy. Lex will love it.
Either "I know a Little" or "Tuesday's Gone" do it for me.
You hit the nail on the head. Skynyrd is the best when it comes to Southern Rock. Being from New Orleans id like to think I know a little bout the genre. Love the channel.
Love Gary Rossingtons guitar work on this song! And Billy Powell as usual was playing it pretty! ❤️
In my opinion..this is one of their best songs.
Mine too, and among hard core Skynyrd fans they like this a lot.
Yes this song is extremely underrated
Definitely a forgotten song by most people I can't even listen to sweet home Alabama or free bird anymore as it's all the radio will play
💯

Skynyrd, like most southern rock bands, were heavily blues influenced.

I hope you get around to reacting to their, "Call Me The Breeze." It's their most fun tune.
THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND "CAN'T YOU SEE",, "HEARD IT IN A LOVE SONG" & "TAKE THE HIGHWAY",, ETC..ETC.

Lynyrd Skynyrd. Simply The Best!!
Southern Rock…. It never gets old.

"The Ballad of Curtis Loew" and You don't need lyrics!
The Four Walls of Raiford is a must also.
Curtis Loew plays a Dobro guitar across his knees with a pick and the band considered him the greatest picker they ever heard.

I been listening to Skynyrd since High School, in 1975 man. You are correct, Southern Rock is so good, and soulful !
She said Led Zeppelin sounds southern. She is not wrong in a way because some of their influences were from southern blues musicians.
Nothing moves like that Southern groove! 🎸🔥

Great reaction yall, skynard has so many great songs. Curtis Loew is one of my favorites.
It's because it's amplified Blues and soul, check out some Rolling Stones from Let it Bleed, they recorded in Muscle Shoals which Skynyrd sings about

Gary Rossington's guitar playing seems to convey the southern drawl somehow. The notes seem to linger a bit extra.
I think you will be blown away by The Breeze.
Watcha like is that stank they put on the riff always makes it better wit sleazy shuffle.
