I have trigeminal neuralgia. Travis describes it perfectly. I spent like $5k on dental work I didn't need, saw doctors for 2 years and finally saw a neurologist and she said "No one knows what causes it and what triggers it is different for everyone, here are some antidepressants, come back in 2 months." It's fucking awful and even worse that doctors brush it off or say "Go see a dentist" then the dentist says "go see a doctor." When you finally see a specialist and beg them to help you, they offer antidepressants or oxy if you beg enough. It's fucking retarded. I can't imagine having this disease in the 1800s.
Who knows, mighta been better back then. Nowadays these greedy doctors are always trying to make a buck off patients in pain so they legit invent things so they can give u pills they're being sponsored to deliver. U coulda at least saved the money on dental work.

I have been dealing with TN for almost a decade, it is a nightmare. It is the worst pain known to man. I had brain surgery in 2014 to help with the pain and it wasn’t very effective. I feel for anyone dealing with this hellish disease.
@@SuPeRuNkNoWn.. High amounts of CBD backfired with my TN. I tried it for help with my tics too (I get involuntary movements that are similar to convulsions or Tourette's). I have more of the constant pain with my TN than the shocks and stabbing reactive pains. I do have some of the classic type 1 pain (both TN and ON). I do get relief from Keppra for the zaps and stab in the head pain. I did make myself endure taking the CBD for a whole month, possibly more. Many of the anticonvulsants also backfired.
@@annetterico4787 Have you tried THC? If CBD and anticonvulsants make your symptoms worse, then THC might have the opposite effect. If the involuntary movements are being caused by a mechanism similar to Parkinson's, then the dopamine agonism of THC might prove to be helpful. Just a thought.
@@The_dude94 I mean it's not really misleading because it is known as the Suicide Disease because a majority of people who have it commit suicide due to the constant excruciating pain
I've struggled with past and regrets before but then a man said "Don't stare at the past or you'll live in it." And also "You have to learn and grow from history, not live in it."
Invest in a pipe or a bong or a one hitter or a vaporizer or basically anything that allows you to smoke small amounts of weed at a time and then you’re good, no extra money on baccy and no lung cancer..doesn’t take much to squash excuses.
Back then *cough* i've seen people who sometimes couldn't afford to smoke with weed at all. Not nice to watch someone take an extra, extra thick hit from a gravity bong - with tobacco only! I almost get sick by only remembering that sight.
Joel Miller aye man y’all got this. Fuck depression. Focus on the positive and see how your life changes. People care about you. Life is so much more than what the average person perceives. Achieve greatness. I believe in u guys
Watching this video a year and a half ago finally gave me a name for a pain of had endured for about 8 years. I was bounced between doctors and dentists for a long time. Had root canals and teeth removed. Nothing worked. Told my doctor about this video got an MRI and saw a neurologist, got on a medication that has taken away the constant low nagging pain. I still have bad episodes a few times a year (mostly related to cold). Can honestly say a JRE episode greatly improved if not saved my life. I would say my trigeminal neuralgia is in fairly mild or early stage. I have only had a few episodes which have landed me in ER (before my diagnoses). I truly feel for those out there struggling with this in extreme cases. I also hope those out there still undiagnosed can find help before resorting to more drastic measures. I know there have been times when I would have/did resort to pretty extreme measures to ease the pain of an attack.
A friend of mine found that Elderberry Wine helped him the most! Him and his doctor traveled together to specialist and homeopathy remedies, found an old lady lived near Amish country that made this wine. His, the whole side of his face swelled up, if that's normal for a flair up? But his was never what you say normal after he got it. He eventually committed suicide. I feel for ya and anyone that has it.
I love guys like Travis and Joe. No pretention. Just talent and honesty. Rare for an individual but getting two like this together makes it an awesome listening experience.
"If you have trigeminal neuralgia, even mild stimulation of your face - such as from brushing your teeth or putting on makeup - may trigger a jolt of excruciating pain." Travis: *gets face tattoos*
I was just tentatively diagnosed with this by my oral surgeon pending an official diagnosis by a neurologist but even though it’s really bad, it explains everything I have been going through for years so well it’s just shocking. When I read the Wikipedia page, the parallels were literally just stunning.
Wow! Is the whole side of your face not swollen? I knew a guy that his was swollen when active, but ultimately swollen all the time just less when not active. Besides medication he found most relief from Elderberry Wine
Travis has had 4 attacks and that sucks but it is hardly what I’d call having the suicide disease. It sounds like he has no idea how bad it can be and why it is called the suicide disease. I have a friend with it and he has had it for almost 20 years now. I’ve talked to him on the phone for 10 minutes and he had 4 attacks during our conversation. He says it feels like someone stabbing him in the face with a knife. It is awful to listen to him when it happens. He got it when he was 25 from a dentist fucking up the extraction of his wisdom teeth. The guy hit the trigeminal nerve or something close enough to start it firing and now his is disabled because of it. He collects disability payments and a monthly settlement payment, because he can’t do anything. He has zero life. The worst part is how it has affected his whole body. He weighs 95 lbs, has cracked most of his teeth from biting down so hard during attacks and malnutrition weakening them. Everything causes an attack for him. Can’t go to the movies because of the vibrations. Talking can set it off. He has had brain surgery to try to limit it - didn’t work. The only thing he has found that helps him live, eat and handle the pain are medical marijuana pills. You really don’t want this shit. And if you’re against medical marijuana you should reconsider based on this disease alone.
Yooooo that's all kinds of fucked up! I don't really even know what to say to that besides I hope they find a solution to this fucked up shit, and that Im wishing him the best.
notgoing2argue --- I've dealt with something similar called 'TMJ', which is an extreme nerve pain of the jaw, and it radiates to areas surrounding it (Cheek, ear, neck, & temple). Luckily for me i've only experienced that on 3 occasions, BUT the pain lasted for almost 2 weeks straight each time. I can almost imagine what your friend goes through!

I also have Trigeminal Neuralgia and when I had it at its worst I went seven days without sleeping for even a minute. I don’t know how I didn’t shoot myself. Gabapentin never touched it for me. I was on Lyrica and morphine for weeks until it went away. I saw the Dr who invented the procedure for the surgery and it wasn’t an option for me. It was absolute hell. Anytime i get the slightest sensation in my face now I start to panic until I calm myself down or it will get worse. I don’t wish it on anyone.
I have TN. I had the surgery, did not work. On tegretol, baclofen and 600 mg. Gabapentin 3 times a day..keeps the pain down enough so I don't kill myself. Keep fighting everyone
I had my first attack the first semester of nursing school. None of the pain medication I had at home was touching it. I couldn't sleep. Dr. finally believed me and gave me gabapentin. Made so SO sleepy at first. At one point I was taking 300 3x a day. Now just taking 600 once a day with little to no side effects.
Genara Anderson really? I take gabapentin every night for sleep. What side effects did it have for you?? Wonder if I have them too and just haven’t linked the dots.

My mom has trigeminal neuralgia and it’s the worst pain I’ve seen her in. It took multiple doctors and many weeks to find out what’s wrong with her. All of the doctors said she was faking it and then finally she talked to a friend that knew about it and then she went back and was able to get diagnosed finally. Also she hates the gabapenten because it makes her barely functional and she feels like she’s dying. CBD has definitely helped her a lot. It’s a miracle drug and we need to invest more in it and start legalizing cannabis everywhere. It also helps my mother-in-law who suffers from severe arthritis

Feel for ya bro, my wife has had 3 surgeries for this disorder and they opted to sever 2 nerves in the last one, then had complications with the last one I'm March which led to another surgery at UC Hospital in Cincinnati. Hers went misdiagnosed for a few years, thinking she had tmj, dental issues like you mentioned which led to the pulling of several teeth. nobody wants to hear this and it makes sufferers extremely angry, but as a sufferer myself I'm willing to face the possibility: Trigeminal neuralgia is very likely associated with anxiety, depression, and other mental/emotional imbalance. Given they cannnot find an organic, neurological cause, it makes sense to me. I did not get better until I faced some real demons I'd buried decades before. I was living with a lot of guilt and fear, and I had 3 attacks of this horrible condition. The pain got so bad I fell into some kind of trance, where I was disassociated from my body. The pain was "unbelievable" in the most literal sense. I very literally could not believe what I was feeling. It's been 3 years since my last bout, and I don't think it's coincidence that I"m the most content ("happy" is a stretch) I've ever been.
How exactly did you cope with it??? I someone who suffers from it, maybe I could show this person some methods of yours ? Also I admire your strength man.
It's a viscous cycle in that regard, the more frequent and severe the pain, the harder it is to work on anxiety and depression, especially if you're on heavy meds

I was thinking back on the 4 yrs I had this unbearable nerve pain up & down my left hip joint to shoulder thru that bundle of nerves behind your ear - it's gone now, but just writing this brings up, like, flashbacks of how horrifying it was. Acupuncture actually helped the most -I didn't even believe in it when I first had it done, but there was no denying it helped. I also took a drug like gabapentin on steroids, Lyrica (? I was thinking this might be about Cluster Headaches.
Theyfd prob give you a fuxking.lebotomy
Who knows, mighta been better back then. Nowadays these greedy doctors are always trying to make a buck off patients in pain so they legit invent things so they can give u pills they're being sponsored to deliver. U coulda at least saved the money on dental work.

I don't really even know what to say to that besides I hope they find a solution to this fucked up shit, and that Im wishing him the best.

nobody wants to hear this and it makes sufferers extremely angry, but as a sufferer myself I'm willing to face the possibility: Trigeminal neuralgia is very likely associated with anxiety, depression, and other mental/emotional imbalance.

It’s makes them realize they need to get their shit together.
Lately ive seen Joe is a mental bully, always having the "one step ahead" behavior, example: the former soldier, Brendan, Neil Degrasse, etc.
precancer =/= cancer
My dad has trigeminal neuralgia and he is an ex royal marine and currently a firefighter and he says that it has him on the floor crying in pain and that it is several times worse than being shot or breaking a bone which have both happened to him
My wife has TN. Took us 3 ER trips within 72 hours before they figured out what was causing her insane pain. it's fucking horrible. She's been in remission for a few months now, thankfully.
The worst part for people with TN is that they pretty much have it for life and there's no telling when it will show up again, how bad it will be, or what will trigger the next wave.
You basically walk through a minefield the rest of your life.
I'm sorry to hear that. Best of luck to you and your wife. Does she keep any pain medication with her at all times now just in case?
What is TN
@@martinolivares1567 Ever hear of Google?
My girlfriend has Trigeminal Neuralgia and has her pain completely relived by 5 visits of seeing a upper cranial chiropractor. Please look into it because she is completely off medication and lives almost completely pain free.

Smoking spliffs with tobacco in Britain was something cultural that was brought over in the 50s from Jamaica.
it tastes so good with tobacco. just straight blunts dont even appeal to me
Taping weed to the nuts? Now that's commitment
I do love a pube in my smoke. Yum.
Zachary Joyce lmao it's be stuck to the tape
I like getting high but wtf man?
I knew a stoner that wore a prosthetic penis full of fake pee every day to work in case of a random UA. Some folks are fuckin strange.
It’s a well known practice in the Middle East I used to do that all the time when I was flew back to work in Dubai.
Should i even explain how to get weed into prison?
THAT'S a fucking commitment to the sweet leaf.
I would rather tape a flaming polecat to my nuts than 'suitcase' a sack of bud up my ass.

How "240" other people liked this stupid comment makes me second guess my life
The main reason I mix baccy with weed in my joints is because I feel like it makes the high better/last longer. When I smoke blunts using hemp wraps with 100% weed the high is sometimes worse, however when I mix with baccy I feel happier and less depressed. Probably just the addiction kicking in lol
I don't understand how could anyone smoke a regular sized joint with only weed and stay awake afterwards, unless your tolerance is completely fucked
I would die coughing if I smoked weed with no tabacco. Everyone I know smokes weed with tabacco. I’m from Scotland 🏴 tho
The weed is mixed with tobacco because they’re both more expensive here so it helps make it last longer
Amen!
So gross but if that's the only way I guess I would. A shame
@@rootz420 It catches onto you. I dont roll tobacco but i smoke chops through the bong. It stared from smoking blun roachs in the bong until i realized the filler in most cases is just the leaves that weren't good enough to roll up due to too many stems or whatever. Nothing beats the headrush of a goo backwood roach in the bong
Sdddude123 trus u have to bun it like this in the uk cos u gotta have bank to just smoke straight weed without baccy. P dead but we live with it. And the legal situation doesn’t effect us too much but it’s still anoying that it’s illegal I guess
yup...aye when your In Ireland its like 50 euro for two grams...our damn fucking straight im mixing tobacco and weed.
Tobacco and weed in the U.K comes from us having Hashish for years before the major skunk invasion along with almost everybody smoking cigarettes back then.
🤔 I wouldn’t say that’s why we mix it tho. And when there was hash about we still had very good weed. It’s just a European thing, we have always mixed the cigs and weed and it saves mad money. But it has nothing to do with hash that makes no sense.
I love how Joe Rogan has become addicted to tobacco because of blunt wraps
Who cares. We're all gonna die someday. Just keep a healthy diet and exercise, you should be fine.
What a stupid thing to say- you “love” that? 🙄🙄

I have trigeminal neuralgia that was caused by an accident I was in when I was 24 and it is absolute hell when it flares up. I use CBD and Gabapentin as well and that definitely helps. Conventional pain medications like oxycodone or morphine are almost useless for that type of pain.
Stay strong 🤲🏻
I got trigeminal neuralgia in early 2018 and got the nerves in my jaw removed to cure it, think of the worst pain you have ever experienced and then multiply that by ten and you're still not even close to the pain. There's no escape, no relief, just pain
I think i'm addicted to oxygen...
I can't live without it.
it took me some balls but i gave rehab a try back in june.. i pushed through and was sober for a minute, despite it being one of the hardest addictions to beat. i relapsed underwater

I clicked on this expecting him to talk about depression. Suicide disease....
It’s actually known for being called the suicide disease because many people have literally killed theirselves because the pain is too much to handle. If the video was going to be about depression it’d be named it..
Its called click bait and yes even JRE does it
Edge Solo Beats it’s not clickbait when it genuinley gets called the “suicide disease” JRE didn’t make up that phrase off the top of his head for a title idea. It gets called that.

he had pre- esophageal cancer, which isn't full blown esophageal cancer which "kills like 95% of people that get it" hence the stop smoking now or you will get it

Dudes been through a lot, the plane crash and trauma, injuries and burns. Getting third degree burns over portions of your body takes many long term tolls. I know someone who's been through it, it fucks up your whole world. Then he's got other health problems weighing in. All the best Mr Barker.
My cousin was drug under a car at age 9 for about a block and a half before the drunk teen stopped , as you can imagine the result. Then in Los Vegas, drunk driver plowed into dbl decker bus him and his wife was on that cought fire. While on fire, he got his wife outside the bus, put fire out on her, ran back inside the bus got another woman out proceeded back to the bus but was stopped just before the explosion. Now. He sounds like popcorn when he walks. Of course that's just one of the f* up parts of his world to his body

Suicide disease is also CRPS. 2 years ago I came down with it and it spread into my face trigeminal neuralgia. Travis is right about the pain he is lucky to live in the USA he in Canada we have to start go fun pages to be able to afford to travel to the USA for help. Ketamine Infusions are the only thing that can help with these syndromes. Best wishes to everyone
I have CRPS in my left foot after 3 surgeries. It's pure hell.
Ketamine infusions do help?!? I’ve tried everything EXCEPT for this up to this point. My doctor won’t say much about it everytime I’ve asked. Would love to hear back..
my aunt had TN, she said it's like being electrocuted every 3 minutes. Travis is lucky it's not regular. My aunt finally got relief with surgery from mayo clinic. None of the drugs do much for majority of people. glad he's talking about it.
I use gabapentin for chronic back pain after a nasty injury. I find it does not always work so I will see if CBD is available in New Zealand, It may help with my Rheumatoid Arthritis flare-ups. Thank you for this info.
Travis barker sounds like a youtube scary stories narrator
😄😄😄
Really wish he would talk about this more. The worst thing you could ever imagine, I’ve been living with TN for close to 5 years now and I’m still looking for a doctor to perform my surgery
My dad has that same disease, and the episodes he goes through are very intense. Recently they haven't been occuring because of that medication gabapentin. It sucks cause there's nothing you can do to help when it's happening
I'm pretty sure) The side effects sucked, but it worked after gabapentin wouldn't. If that pain had been in my FACE? Nope. No way. I can't exist in that reality. My heart goes out to you - it sucks cuz you just feel helpless. And to your father, I cannot - that's just the worst thing I can't even imagine. Sending ya'll love, light, and prayers.
I give gabapentin to my dog for joint or thyroid pain? Idk but I know that’s the name or I wouldn’t have recognized it and commented. What’s it for?
I’m from U.K. . The reason we used to mix the weed with tobacco is the weed was shit quality and wouldn’t burn otherwise . Nowadays we got that good good.
I’m from the uk. Never been a fan of the tobacco adding but it’s needed with bad weed. I just don’t get that now we have the top shelf buds ppl are still adding the baccy? Just ruining the flower in my opinion. Then again hash and tobacco do go nice ...
Im American and I add a pinch of tobacco when I roll up. We exist, however we are extremely few lol. Started doing it at first to stretch the bud but now I just prefer the way it pulls and the effect it gives.
Having to do so out of necessity sounds horrible though.
@@NJLev It was just always the norm here. I assumed it was also because people would mostly smoke hash, UK would get landrace hash coming from India/Morocco via Europe while USA would get more home grown grass I think?

I treat trigeminal neuralgia with acupuncture over the facial distribution. Interestingly, Travis's story of people having the root canals has been my experience too.
I was thinking this might be about Cluster Headaches. But it seems there are palpable similarities - both conditions involving pain in the head/face area so excruciatingly awful, as to have ensued in suicidal reactions. Never heard of this specific condition though, but I'm not sure I can imagine living with these types of pain. Makes me feel somewhat fortunate, actually.
