  • Prescott is a destination that transcends the Arizona archetype. No sweltering summers or miles of cactus covered moonscape. The town's mile-high location in the Grand Canyon State's central highlands brings four mild seasons, an average annual daytime temperature of about seventy degrees, and over 300 days of sunshine. Just ninety miles north of bustling metro Phoenix, downtown Prescott is an idyllic hamlet nestled comfortably within a verdant national forest. "Everybody's Hometown" has a mix of unbeatable weather, outdoor adventure opportunities, natural beauty, and strong cultural heritage roots drawing increasing numbers of domestic and international travelers. Prescott! A great place to live, work, and play.

I enjoy hearing Toni Tennille's voice. Most probably don't know it, but she is or was, one heck of a hiker. I met her in the backcountry of the Sierra Nevada one evening in the early 1980's. She had just done a 15-20 mile day hike with about 8 of it off trail over a major ridge at high elevation. I think we had some lightning that day and most of the cross country route she was on was above treeline. She took an annual trip in the Sierra with some friends, all women, including a number who were wives of L.A. Dodger players. She was a down to earth, friendly woman and I was impressed with the hike she an a couple other ladies took that day. I knew that she was the real thing, not some image created by public relations types, as that was not an easy journey that day. I think Steve Garvey's wife was there as well. They were all down to earth and friendly. I think they even had patches or hats made for the trips they took each year. I think there was a silhouette of a alpine ridge, the letters "WITS" or something like it and the year of the trip. I think "WITS" stood for "Women in the Sierra."

Great place to see the outdoors and be a part of something greater..
Only thing is I wish we had better road systems to accommodate the growth we experience.
But we welcome everyone and wish the best. Please come here...just respect the values we locals hold dear.

The right videographer can make Afghanistan look good. I moved to Prescott in 2006 to care for an aging parent. I see more businesses close than new ones that open. Unless you are in healthcare that caters to the large senior population, there are NO jobs. The local Government operates on the "Good ol' Boy" system. I will research an area before I move again, rather than rely on sugar coated video. Lastly, Toni forgot to mention the many run-down trailer villages embedded throughout the city.

Been working there over a month, and every one is very nice. You really didn't belong there.

I moved here to get away from the CA traffic, smog, crappy roads and over population...turns out so have other Californians...the ones that "Must" run the red lights and speed on our new 5 lane highways that are built to copy CA. Toni doesn't mention all of the many homeless people and the 50 or 60 drug rehabs in our "wonderful" town.

Our neighborhood was briefed by the police and drug rehabilitation centers have went down from 150 to 100 😱, and homeless everywhere! In addition, there’s homes being built everywhere & the traffic is absolutely horrible. No longer the small town atmosphere due to the estimated 10,000 Calis moving here per year plus all the other Dumbocrap states, WA, OR, etc...

There is a water crisis, the pronghorn are being rounded up and removed to make room for more developers. All the grassy hills are slated for development and they want to make Prescott, Prescott valley and Chino Valley into one giant Mega city that will be the biggest in North Arizona. There is great difficulty finding doctors and the traffic sucks. I know because I live here.

“Living in Prescott has never been so affordable” 😂😂😂 yeah, if you have come from California and have a lot of extra money, when you can’t find a decent apartment for under $1000 a month, that’s not affordable.

    • @timothygarrahan2122

Timothy Garrahan I’ve seen decent homes around 2000 square feet for $350k but that’s still crazy. The same home would go for around $200k in Texas. Maybe $250-300 if you were in a big city with high demand like Dallas or Austin.

Yes, I seem to recall the hoards of mobile home parks that opened in 1864. The point I am making is; the City does nothing to promote progress. Countless national businesses have failed and the mall is half empty. I have to work 225 miles away in order to earn a decent living. Hell, the Mayor won't even release enough money to ease the pain of the widows of the fallen firefighters because they were only part timers. Who's the Schmuck? Sorry, I'm done with Prescott and AZ. You can keep it!

Was checking out the city as I see a job there online that interests me. Here's the thing - it appears to be a place where you live a life that barely changes in a city that barely changes. Someone mentioned Mayberry. I don't want Mayberry; absolutely not. While the video says that they seek new businesses, the city vibe, while relaxing, doesn't come across as progressive. I'm a go-getter looking to make a new world and my impression is that the city wouldn't be conducive to that ethos. I'm sure I could find some people with a progressive philosophy, but I want to be in a community committed to a progressive philosophy.

I live in Prescott and we already have an influx of Californians. Please no more!!! They have drove up prices on homes, rentals, gas and food. Their driving habits are the worse I've ever seen. The town and county water supply can't keep up with demand. Now a corporation is trying to get a resort built next to one of the nicest places to visit, The Granite Dells. Most residents don't want you here except for the business owners and realty companies because the more of you here the higher they will raise prices. Stay in California or go somewhere else
