Such a great video: informative, peaceful, and organic--it feels like we're walking with you as a friend. You also have such a wholesome energy. I love that you constantly say you're appreciative and blessed to be out there enjoying it all. Blessings back to you!
The trail that goes to the south from the parking lot... I built that trial while in the YCC. I live in Spokane now but, the last time I was on the Rock I Rockhounded that beach. There was a gal that showed me a shark tooth, when I told her what it was she was ecstatic. When I lived on whidbey I would ride my bike to the beach and rockhound and ride back 50 lbs heavier Great vid from a Rockhound that has been since I was Pebble Pup.
Grew up around this part of the state we always called the long things with a bulb at the end bull kelp. Crazy stuff, and yeah that part of whidbey Island is really nice beach areas and the ocean in that area is on the warm side which helps make it nice mild walking area.
I’m forever walking the beaches here on Whidbey. I never know for sure what I’m finding, I just grab what I think is interesting! It’s nice to see a video of someone pointing out the different rocks. Oh and the jets are Growlers, like a close cousin of the Hornet.
Many years ago I was stationed at the navel air base there on Whidbey and I walked the very beach you are on today along with others of course so this is sentimental for me ... very much enjoyed it ...Thanks ! ...by the way the large chunks of concrete are the remains of pill boxes in the top of the hillside ..part of the fort elbe complex .. which has slid down since I was there ... 1964 .. they were hanging by a thread back then and I knew at the time it was a matter of months or years till they wound up on the beach ..!
Hello I've lived in Tacoma all my life. I have never been to that Island. I have lived in Tacomas parkland area for 7 years now. I love being by the beach water, I grow up going to Westport Washington, my grandparents had property the in Shelton Washington. Had lots of looking for agates.
It is definitely worth the drive when I can make it. I've been there twice and both times it was an awesome experience! Thanks for the comment, you are greatly appreciated! :)
The jets are EA-18, not F (fighters), they do electronic counter measures and A LOT MORE. The big jet is the new sub chaser but again it does a lot more, it's a replacement for the P3-Orion, but they still fly P3s, I live near Deception Pass so I get them all. Nice walk, I will have to try Ft Ebey.
I'm spending New Year's Eve up there thanks for sharing.. I've only been one time to rockhound but I'm super excited for round two thanks for the video
Brand new to rockhounding with my daughter. I think we will be heading over to Ebay or that area to try our luck. Even though I'm sure I'll miss tons because I have no clue what we are really looking for. So we just will collect anything cool looking and then research them later lol
I LOVE Whidbey Island! We're thinking about buying a house out there. 🤞That mossy jasp agate @13:00 is AMAZING! The chunky agate @36:00, Whhhhhhhaaaattttt?!?! A bunch of those beaches over there are AWESOME! I love Ft. Casey, used to go there on field trips as a kid.
It was an awesome day for sure and definitely one of the top days for amazing finds. I can't wait to go back. I would love to live up there too, even with all the difficulties of getting on and off the island. Thanks for the positive support, you are greatly appreciated!
@@egrediortraveladventures5421 You can drive across deception pass on the north end to avoid the ferry if need be. I personally like to do the loop, drive over and take the ferry home or vice versa.
Been back n forth on Whidbey. Many many years. I was born n raised here in the pnw. I've collected rocks since a kindergarten...of course life grabs a hold of you and you start doing other things. I've now started walking n collecting again..started polishing and experimenting with polishing too. So much fun just searching and love the peace it brings me. Hope to hear from ya. Hope to see ya out on a new adventure Soon!!!!
Omgoodness this was an amazing adventure! I'm just getting into rockhounding, because I love beading with gemstones... I recently ordered some beads from Amazon, but I'm not sure of the quality... so at this point I would like to collect my own stones, and have them polished and made into beads, so I can thread my own pieces... I looked for more of your videos but looks like you haven't uploaded for awhile...
That green rock looks like jade you you should do the test on that green rock check out the the hardness and see if metal scratches it no scratches means it’s a possibility that it could be jade
I am forced to live in Spokane right now, I went on a trip over not long ago n went to Whidbey . Brought a bag of rocks with me so I could have a piece of Whidbey at my place.
Live in Skagit County, any good spots near me? After seeing a few videos definitely checking this beach! And when is a good time to go up in the hills for agate?
Walker valley has rockhounding areas with crystal geodes and there is a blue agate site called Fly by Night and the stream has junk jade cobbles in it;.
You really need to go closer to the ground and decrease your speed of travel by at least 3-4 less steps per minute. This area is I've spent literally hundreds of hours scanning and searching and have found unbelievable treasures of various jaspers , banded and unbanded chalcedony as big as a tennis all.
Your camera is all over the place. I was looking forward to the video but it was disorienting with you jerking the the camera around viewing panoramic of the kelp beds and surrounding scenery where was the rock hounding? I heard you talk about it , nice piece of granite . Sorry so harsh but couldn't even finish the video without brain strain.

Ahhh the stories each rock could tell. Hope to meet you on the beach some day.
Enjoyed watching your day of rockhounding. Was nice to virtually tag along. ✌️

@@RagnarRocks not to mention the waaaay cheaper gas after crossing the bridge
Yep, Camp Casey was the big 5th grade rite of passage when I was a kid. I've taken my kids there several times now.
3:40 - kelp. Not seaweed nor sea grass. Great for fishing along the kelp beds.
Each beach tends to have their own things to share

I’ve never found rocks like the ones on Whidbey!
Do you not walk the beaches?
I see jade!
That green rock looks like jade you you should do the test on that green rock check out the the hardness and see if metal scratches it no scratches means it’s a possibility that it could be jade
What are the green rocks comprised of?
"sorry sir, I made a questionable decision!". Brilliant defense.

Are you coming back yet?
That creature you found is called a chiton
Where have you been? Are you still working the second job and unable to go rockhounding?

Whereabouts you from? I live in marysville. I would like to go out and learn. But these gas prices have killed my entire summer with my daughter. :(
