- It's been really fun living in Spokane, Washington, but our time here has ended, and now it's on to another region with new localities to visit and new rocks and minerals to find!
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for future adventures!

Just to be clear, we will still be making videos just from a different state!
Where?
@@dennissorensen167 That will be next week's video!
Okay, where's my riot emote? 🤦🏼♂️🤣😂
I'm excited to see where you two move to; it'll be awesome to get to know more about what ya find in that new area!!!
If you like looking for Geodes, there is an area just South of Billings Montana where you can find them! I live in Butte Montana!👍👍👍👍
If you liked looking for geodes, there's a place just south of Billings Montana where you can look for them! I live in Butte Montana! 👍👍👍
I am looking forward to seeing your new adventures. As a fellow eastern Washingtonian your channel and website have been an invaluable resource for me as a self taught rockhound and lapidary. I wish you the best in your future endeavors.
Eastern Washington will always be a special place for me.
Sad to hear you are leaving WA. Your channel is far and above the best and most informative rockhounding channel for the area but happy you will continue making videos!
Thank you for the kind words!
You will be very missed but I'm glad to hear you're going on to your next adventure because that's what life is all about the next adventure. Thank you for all you've given us. You definitely help me and my family by telling us where to find rocks and in turn we made a living and fed our children and our grandchildren from it. So thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Would love to visit Washington strictly for rockhounding but thats all. No way could I imagine living there or Cali. Just some of these states cost of living and strange gov regulations, taxes, laws, are just so insane. I can't see how people can survive. Love this channel tho and will follow you both wherever.😘
Thank you for all you have shared over the years. Living in Spokane myself I found your videos to be one of the most valuable sources for information and ideas of places to go. The Red Top one being the first video I saw, I was able to use that info to take family there and thus sparked interest in rockhounding in my niece and nephew. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Packing up as a rockhound 😅, best of luck, when I retire, we too will be leaving this state. Sad because I was born in Spokane. I have loved this state for most of my life, but the current social climate, has made me lose my love. Then you top it off with the cost of living here… and you start to realize. It’s not all what it once was. Being a veteran, I have traveled all over and I have my eye on a few nice spots. Best of luck, and safe travels!
Dude, packing up the shop was a huge project on its own.
Getting out of Spokane was the right answer for us.
Brother if I may offer a small piece of advice, when you plug your website you gotta make sure the URL is in the screenshot or add it on the screen during your edit, also a good idea to put it in the description! I had to rewind(?) three times to hear the website and then google it (found it though!) Awesome resource btw, might be moving to Oregon soon and can't wait to check out all your locations!
I think you drove down to Utah when you lived in Washington, no reason you can't drive up to Washington sometime in the future. From the videos I've seen, Utah looks really wonderful for rockhounds. I think you'll love it. I would. My son just took Amtrak out west and said Utah was really beautiful. I'm looking forward to great videos from Utah!
And your right. East coast is almost all private property. What isn't is state land and off limits in most cases. We have fossils, calcite, some fluorite if your lucky. Everything is buried under ancient sea bed tho. Mostly sandstone slate and shale.
Please hurry I don’t know how many more breaths I have in me. I’m so happy for you guys and can’t wait to see what you’re up to!! ROCK ON 🪨⛏️🔬
While I was stationed in Wa. State I found your page. My wife got my son and I into finding beach agates and while I was looking into other rockhound areas I found your page and have followed for i think a couple years now. Coincidentally we just moved to Utah 3 weeks ago lol.
Thank you for all the awesome videos! You will be missed! I’m sure you’ll love Utah.
You mentioned some places you wish you had gone. One was rock creek in SW Washington. When I look it up there are five creeks. Can you provide me with which one to go to? The other I’d like to go to is Succor Creek. What area is it in? Thank you! Looking forward to seeing all your Utah finds!
My daughter and I have enjoyed your videos as new rockhounders so thank-you for your content. And this video is perfect as your WA good-bye because it adds to the adventure, imagination, and fascination of rockhounding.
Wishing you high adventure on gentle trails. Good luck packing all the rocks you will take! My family swears they'll leave it here... all two tons in multiple "location" piles... then I'll be staying with my inventory...
Stonerose is a great place. I took students there for quite a few years. I think I might have enjoyed more than the students. I rode my motorcycle to Republic yesterday. Fun fact: at one point in history what is now the location of Republic was on the west coast of the North American continent.
Im from washington as well, and i was able to take my dad out to collect some autunite from around mt. Spokane, so surreal man. You will be missed! (In washington)
Oh no!! Sorry to see you go. I was looking forward to meeting you and Sarah. Good travels.
I rented a boat at Blue Lake and rowed across the lake and climbed up the talus slope. Then walked a narrow ledge to the Rhino cast.
This was 30 years ago, I would never do it again. It's risky.
Enjoy the move, looking forward to your further adventures.
Dang... I floated across the lake to those talus slopes on that side when I was younger but had no idea the Rino cast existed.
I do remember a lot of Rattlesnakes in that talus.
It does seem worth it to see in person!
That one time at rock camp... tee hee hee. Hope u like your new digs!!
3 years ago i moved from northern idaho to northern wisconsin. Life just keeps moving on. Even when you move from pnw
I've actually been to the Snowbird mine. Very impressive! Collected some parisite there to try and stump my mineralogy professor. No dice, the little mineralogist whipped out his hand lens and immediately exclaimed PARISITE! The little man was amazing!
It's a good location that we wish we had a second chance at.
I just wondered why you moved to Utah. I left Utah for Washington.
I live in Central Oregon. So much to see and do. Enjoy your adventures.
I enjoyed your channel thoroughly and we went to many places because of you all. Thank you. 🙂
Wow! That was a lot more insightful and sentimental, then I thought it would be. It kind of made me tear up! And it's so amazing how you and Sara discussed and described these places that you will miss, or will never get to see now. And the cliff hanger about where you moved too! That was not nice!!! It's also, soooo Jared! Lol! Happy trails and it's time to make new memories!❤️
I just hope other people can go see them and maybe share a few photos with us.
I would love to see those enormous quartz and fluorite crystals for myself.
I camped out at succor creek years ago. While we found a lot of thunder eggs, it was one of the worst camping trips I’ve ever experienced with the combination of extreme heat and rattlesnakes everywhere.
Oh theres rattlers? Wonderful. I didnt even think about that last year walking up those talus piles.
That does sound rough.
Definitely looking forward to next week's episode
All the best guys
You have inspired and motivated me. Thank you. I will miss both of you.
Wishing you both the best on your next adventure. I’ve gotten back into rockhounding after a long hiatus, largely because of your channel. I’ll miss your insights into WA’s opportunities, especially here in E WA.
I'm glad you're back to rockhounding. The videos will continue, but from a different region.
I just started rockhounding and found someone from my state. Well thanks for the start of my journey
Can you go a bit more into your reasons for leaving? As a viewer since the Necessary Shoptime days, you will be missed.
Looking forward to what the future holds
Thank you for sticking with me here!
I will be in a future video, but it's all for good reasons!
The rhino hole is very cool! I hope you get a chance to go someday.
All these comments make it sound like you are leaving RUclips. I sincerely doubt and hope against that being the case. I look forward to seeing your adventures in your new location.
If you want to go somewhere with limited rockhounding locations, try the Midwest. Specifically Iowa. We have a geode bed and some Galena but not much else unless you like sporadic deposits of "earth tone" chert among limestone.
That is not the case at all, we will be making videos forever here unless RUclips goes away, but then it will be on whatever replaces it. I'm not sure why people think we're leaving the platform or giving up on making videos, I never said that in this video.
Congo rats to you 2.
I look forward to seeing the change in scenery
Thank you!
At about 20:00, you mentioned e-bikes. Casey Ladelle, a you tuber from Bend Oregon, got a Rattan e-bike free from the company for showing it on a video. I was in the market, and ended up buying one, the Pathfinder model, a bit more than a year ago. The company replaced a defective hub motor insert, basically the guts of the motor, under warranty, and threw in a new brake disc just in case the old one was damaged. (It wasn't) They are very pleasant to work with, and I'm back on the road.
As you tubers, they might offer you a similar deal on a pair of bikes, and you two would probably get a great deal of use out of the bikes.
My bike will go 30 MPH and has a (realistic) 35 mile range on a full charge. It's great on hills, too.
May life treat you well.
Something like that would be nice to have, but I really don't like to do those kinds of promotions on the channel.
I will, however, keep them in mind!
now I understand why you've been so selective about which rocks you take home lately.....
Gotta move them!
So sad that yall left Spokane, you will both be missed in our crazy rock community here!
AAHHH A bug 🤣. A new home and new adventures, sounds great to me. To have a new shop with new potential. I would be lying to say Im not envious, I certainly am. I am not up on your videos, apologies, life gets in the way. Did you say to what state you were moving to? Looking forward to new adventures, good luck and safe travels.
That will be next weeks video!
Your vids have been wonderful! I did watch the entire thing to find out where you were going... Still don't know where or why?
Right!
Heading to Lake Wenatchee this weekend, trying for actinolite on Sunday. Going to stop at either Hansen Creek, Red Top, or Crystal Mountain on the way up on Saturday. Which of these 3 should I go for? This video has me leaning towards Red Top.
I think Hansen is closed to the public now, well at least the road due to logging.
Wishing you all the best on the move! And whatever you do... avoid driving a U-Haul through Chicago or Houston if it's on your route lol
Excited to see the big reveal of your next spot 😃
I cracked up when you said lucky strike. I was within a mile of there today and was in the barn at the Mitchell shop, wallowing in a pile of blue mountain jasper, when I got the notification for this video.
Best wishes for happiness in your new home, and thanks to both of you for taking me along on many rock adventures.
You two (and Laika) are doing what many of us aspire to. On to new lands and new adventures!
Blue Lake Rhino! I’ve been inside of it… when I was a child
Me too!
Did ever go to Oregon where they have the Sunstones. I've been thinking about it myself.
We never made it to the sunstones in Oregon.
Thanks for sharing your adventures and knowledge with all the RUclips world sir, madam an pooch! Wishing you all everything good in your new location down in southern Utah. Maybe getcha to meet up in Nevada for a hunt next year! Take care and talk again soon~
Blessings on your new adventure, my friends. 🙏
Thank you!
I swear our pups came from the same litter. My girl looks almost exactly like yours!
Good luck on the new adventures! Looking forward to finding out where you're headed to!
Come to Montana....it's a No Brainer.
I do like Montana.
Pendleton oregon though.... lol
I retired a few years ago here in Arkansas. I started seriously rockhounding just a couple of months ago. A lot of what I have learned has been from your videos. Please don’t stop. Hopefully, you are moving closer to Arkansas. Have a safe move!
Arkansas is hot AF and muggy. Spent some time in LR. Never again :)
You have some awesome giant quartz crystals in Arkansas. Hoping to get to a spot open to the public someday.
Gotta give us some context and background and news about why you're leaving, what you're going to be doing and your future plans for your channel even though it is absolutely none of our business!!!😢
We will be continuing to make videos, but we are getting out of the NW and moving somewhere we can be happier and do even more rock related stuff. As well I'll have a much nicer shop.
Go have fun! Life is an adventure so do as much as you can. Can't wait to see what you find next😄
I am now determined to help with the 3 foot geode rumor! Is the place possibly called Franson Peak? Any info would be appreciated thanks. Going to try to check out the Dino hole /cave as well! Your videos have gotten me so interested in rock hounding the NW areas
Franson Peak 48.85565, -118.63213
@@CurrentlyRockhounding thank you kindly. Excited to see your new adventures:)
I also found some molybdenite at a campground in Cle Elum, Washington. At the time, I didn’t know what it was so I took it into Jerry’s rock shop to get identified. They say a lot of people call it Molly B. for short
Now that you’ve moved, where is that blue agate location in Oregon’s Northern Coast Range? Which I guessed too close apparently @Clatskanie and you turned the comments section off.
Exciting times! I hope you move somewhere where you get to do just as much and more amazing rockhounding trips! :] You've been doing great work out there!
22:19 - That was EXACTLY what I was thinking until just a couple years ago regarding my home here in Saxony, Germany! Just for me to learn more and more that actually, we have some of the most amazing rockhounding sites either in the state or super close-by. So yeah, I agree, it's really just about looking for infos and exploring the area.
Ugh…moving…big lotta work. I agree with you about the BLM filled west. I wonder, of course, where you are moving, and why. I hope it all goes well. I look forward to your next video.
Wow, I'm so surprised! Sad that you are going and that we did not have a chance to meet. But I send best wishes for your adventures in the next area you call home. I hope you continue your YT channel. Your channel has gained a lot of subscribers in the past year, and seems in good health (despite issues with YT). It is a first class channel in areas of good content and knowledge. No other rock hounding channel is like yours.... I've learned a lot and have enjoyed it. You have provided so much practical information that is so accessible. Fortunately, you have created a wonderful catalog of locations in the PNW. So in some ways, you are still here. Best wishes and good luck to you and Sarah!
Now we get to learn about a new area and share it, just like we did with NE Washington.
Maybe our paths will still cross someday.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding I certainly hope so!
Thank you so much for clueing us in on some locals to explore. Not everyone shares and you both have amazing videos and have found some cool stuff. We have property in Stevens County 2 hours North of Spokane. I can not wait to try to find the Turkey Mine and some of the other spots you have been too in that area. When we move there, (currently in Lakewood) will have fun exploring. You mentioned Rim Rock, very familiar with the area, what road would we need to travel to find the Geodes. Thank you again Good luck on your New Ventures , can't wait to see your new area you live in and explore.
NE WA checking in, a bit north of you guys. I will def. be going back and watching this vid whenever I need a spot to go check out. Thanks for all the content! Will be eagerly awaiting your next adventure! Be safe! Good luck!
The first time my daughter and I ever went rockhounding was because of your videos. We followed your advice for little Naches since it was close to home. We were so new we were digging and never even knew what we were looking for. lol We had to ask two guys digging near us "Is this what we are looking for"? Thanks to you starting us off we managed a family road trip through Oregon, Idaho and eventually to Utah. And more recently I sent the wife and daughter back to Thailand to visit family and get more rocks. I stayed behind due to work, school and a successfully concluded trip to the Red Oct 2 fire opal mine. And a detour to White Fir for thunder eggs thanks to you two. Thanks for the inspiration, education and the accurate coords. My personal hunch is your gonna end up in Utah. Let's see if we are right?
You've been to Utah in lots of your previous videos I'm gonna make a guess it's there.
But for sure I bet you stayed out west
I'm going to bet on Utah (Southwest) for your next area for you to wander and explore. Anyway Thank you Both and Furbrat for your interesting videos. Washington losing you but you have to follow your hearts and nose!
I’m getting up early tomorrow and traveling over 7 hours to head to the Noble Serpentine mine because of your videos!!
Thanks for all the information and entertainment that you have provided for us here in the pnw. My favorite local rockhounding couple without a doubt. Laika too. She reminds me of my Maise. Always working on something.
That Crown Point trip with electric bikes sounds amazing! I like adventure. I’d love to read that old article.
Excited to see your next adventures!
I was just up at naches last weekend, dirtbiking and hounding. the main bed had every single hole filled in but maybe 4, discovered a fossil bed in between there and lilypad and found a really nice leaf fossil. then hit up lilypad and grabbed a few more pieces from there. even though your gonna be in another state ill still watch
Good luck and safe travels! Can’t wait to see where you guys new home is going to be! I am guessing there will be no snow and all kinds of cool rocks and lots of public land.😎
Bummed to hear you're leaving the region. But that's just selfish-talk. Here's wishing you all the best.
Thank you for showing love to eastern wa
Eastern Washington will always be special to me.
Ya'll rock and have taught me tons Of what my home state of Washington has to offer THANK YOU for all you have shared and looking forward to learning more thru you on your new adventures 👍

I hope your move went well and excited to see where you end up!! That red rock video gave me flash backs to your channel's earlier days, very cool.
Thankyou for your videos. Sad to see you leave Washington but good luck to you guys whereever you go. Will miss you at the club. Take care and bless you both!
Best wishes for a smooth move! I have to admit this is not what I thought of when you mentioned working on a huge project😂😂
I can't wait to see your next chapter👍👍
You guys provided such a great view and shared so many exciting adventures in Washington. I think where ever you end up you will provide a service to your new community and the greater rock hounding family. Best of luck and hope things run smooth for your move.
Good luck with the next part of your life adventures
We will see you on the flipside
Bon Voyage kids! We'll be looking forward to seeing you in your new locale! Travel Safe and keep picking up rocks!
Holly Cow!
I’m sad to see you two go, but I’m sure it’s best for you and hope that you find everything you are searching for where you are going. It was great getting to know you and the wonderful conversation we have had.
Your contributions to the rockhounding community here will be felt long after you are gone and remembered for years to come.
Thanks again for the great times. I’m looking forward to seeing your next adventures. You will be missed. ❤
I'm sure your Washington fans will miss you two (or three if we include the dog). As one door closes, a new one open's allowing for all new adventures. We wish you well in your endeavors and quests
So where did you move to ??
That's my question too! I was listening while doing housework and figured I'd missed where they are moving to.
That will be next week's video!
Ok @@CurrentlyRockhounding
If you stick to safer and easier locations, there will be a lack of adventure.
Been beneficial to watch your RUclips videos for rockhounding and I have just been doing it.
Will be missing your RUclips videos and your own selves also. Know that I will be looking for your RUclips videos as always.
The videos will continue but from another state.
Can't wait for the new adventures, hope the move was fairly smooth 😅!
Thank you for setting up great locations in the PNW area to go and check out ❤
Looking forward to seeing your videos in and around your new home!!!
Hit the road cuts on your way!
Congratulations and travel well!
Come to New Mexico it's a RockHounds dream! ! !
I know wherever you both go you will succeed because of your amazing video , kind hearts, dedication to education ,and knowledge 🙏! Thank you 🙏
I lived in Alamogordo 1968-1970, we went rockhounding often, it made a big impact on me, my dad was a photographer for the tests on monkeys at holloman AFB
It is a geological wonderland in Washington and the PNW as a whole.
My wife and I already live way east of you and probably moving to Michigan's UP (Keweenaw) and setting up shop on the eastern I mean western!
shore.
Butttt... before that we plan to visit the PNW and UT, AZ, AK!! NM, CA. Our camper has a lot of empty states on it!
Oh dagnabbit, no one else makes content like you two in the region, I'm really bummed 😢
The videos will continue, but from a different state.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding but I live in OR, and no one else shares where they go like you two 😞 I do wish you all the fun new adventures!
@@akessler2596 I can help you with Oregon ^^
I'm currently planning a trip around the northwest for july and i'm pretty much going off your maps. Thank you for all the wonderful work up there and I hope your next bunch of adventures will bring more maps! (I hope its closer to michigan because all the places I now about aren't close/accessible unless its fossils)
Yay! That sounds like a good trip!
There will be new maps!
I wish you the best Jared, if I go to Liberty Bell, I'll let you know, Crown point sounds so fun.
Send photos!
Looking forward to new discoveries and new finds!
I'm confused, goodbye Washington? You are talking about Montana.
Why would that confuse you. NE Washington is only 140 miles from Montana.
Looking forward to your new adventures.
Lots of rocks to pack i bet. Sending you airhugs of positive loving energy to you both and furface to
It was about, 1700lbs of rocks that I moved
Leaving home is tough but on to new bigger adventures.
Good luck wish ya the best. Your channel was the first one when I started my rock hounding career lol
Thank you!
