l grew up loving and listening to the Spinners l tried to imitate them me and my friends were use to singing most of there songs those were the good Ole days indeed my time 1968- 1976 motown and more
Hi Janice! The Spinners are one of the nominees for this year's 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, so please be sure to vote for them DAILY starting NOW through FRIDAY, APRIL 28TH so that they get inducted.
Im in tears as i write these words. The Spinners were (and still is and always will be) my favorite soul group from the 60s to the 80s. Rest in Peace, Power and Paradise Billy, Phillip. Pervis, Bobbie and now Henry.🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊 You brothers were definitely 'One Of A Kind' and you will be soreky missed 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
THE SPINNERS WERE THE VERY FIRST CONCERT I'VE GONE TO. MY MOTHER TOOK US. I WAS ONLY ELEVEN.. IM 57 YRS OLD NOW. IVE BEEN A FAN EVERY SINCE. P.I.R. ❤ FELLOW SPINNERS
The SPINNERS were pure classic, the songs they put out were so great in every way imaginable, there are too many hits that I loved to list, however i will say that my most favorite are I'll Be Around, One Of A Kind Love Affair, Ghetto Child, It's A Shame, which by the way was sung by a member, G.C. CAMERON on lead vocals, his vocals on the ending of this song is beyond powerful 💥💯💯💯💯; and you failed to mention his name as one of the early sixties members.
Congratulations to #TheSpinners on their 2023 R&RHF induction. 👏🏾 It was nice seeing Henry & John at the ceremony. I wish the others were alive to experience it. #NewEdition did an amazing tribute to them.
The only original surviving member is Henry Fambrough. Congratulations for being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. November 3, 2023. (finally!)
FIRST of all, BOBBY SMITH was the LEAD SINGER of the SPINNERS..LONG BEFORE WYNNE even GOT there. SECOND of ALL. BOBBY sang lead on the group’s VERY FIRST HIT SINGLE,, “THAT’S WHAT GIRLS ARE MADE FOR” way back in 1961. I don’t know where or what WYNNE was doing in 1961…but he CERTAINLY WAS’NT doing it with THE SPINNERS. THIRD of all , THE SPINNERS’ FIRST, SECOND, FORTH, and FIFTH MILLION SELLERS were All led by BOBBY SMITH : I’LL BE AROUND , COULD IT BE WE’RE FALLING IN LOVE, THEN CAME YOU , (with DIONNE WARWICK, and GAMES PEOPLE PLAY. So, while WYNNE was hopping and skipping all across the STAGE, it was BOBBY SMITH that was SELLING ALL THE RECORDS. Wynne only led on TWO million selling records: ONE OF A KIND, and RUBBERBAND MAN.
You are correct that Wynne came much later. But the song Sadie is a major part of their song catalog. It was sung by Wynne and was a big hit for the group.
I have to admit that Spinners were okay with me specially games people play Rubberband Man Love don't love nobody and mighty love that was the you-know-what back-in-the-day met all them rest in peace. Johnson

@@The1baddman Never heard “Love Won’t Let Me Wait” by Major Harris until now. Thanks a lot. The Sweethearts of Sigma (Barbara, Evette Benton & Carla Benson) provided female backing vocals for lots of Philly releases, so I guess the rumor is true. Sounds great 🙂
