One of the Best Groups To Ever Do It! May they all Rest In Peace! And we are So Blessed to Still Have The Living Legend Al Green!! Blessings To You Reverend Al!!
Got to sing praises to the Band I knew these men Joe Jackson on Lead Guitar from Cleveland ,Ohio Ryland on bass. The great SPINNERS i WAS ON TWO SHOWS WITH THESE GREAT GUYS. GOD BLESS YOU BROTHERS R.I.P.
These dudes were so great at performing live , if you never got a chance to see them , you really missed a treat !!! In the early 70’s , we use to catch them at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill NJ. Back then, they had supper clubs, when could eat and drink as well as see the show ! RIP guys ❤
Ooh man ,the spinners were a group that could bring you to tears..that as they say was ol' skool at its best....man I can still remember those songs like yesterday thankyou midnight special...AND RIP SPINNERS
the Spinners were an awesome Soul/ R&B vocal group and they also had a great backing band helping them out on tour and doing tv tapings like here thank you. 🎵🎶🎼💞🎼🎶🎵
Love found love lost unrequited love mother love but all love, this was the music of my day, my prime a song for ever event and love connection in my life up until this day and Mr. Wynne's voice sets the tone for each story along with the wordsmiths who created the lyrics these were the great collaborators.
I love the Spinners not taking anything away from the voices. However, the large sound of a Hammond B3 organ really brings it home, making it R&B for me.
Thank you so much for making this available, I have a wonderful memory of seeing this line up in the UK as part of the Atlantic soul package and they were fabulous, such great voices and with Thom Bell and Linda Creed writing and producing such amazing songs they couldn’t fail. Phillipe Wynne was a force of nature that evening too, a magnificent soul voice and this video shows me that my memories of a great night weren’t false.
R.I.P. These brothers, The Spinners as well many other R&B groups from back then can out sing, out play on instruments, out dance, out perform any of the trash 🗑️ that’s out today, get down Spinners, thank you so much your great music, great singing.
AGAIN THE SPINNERS ALWAYS BE A GROUP THAT WILL PUT A SMILE ON FACE. MAN EVERY TIME I WATCH LISTEN IT REMINDS ME OF MY MOTHER (RIP) SHE WAS HUGE FAN OF PHILIPE W. HE WAS TRULY THE REAL DEAL.
Love me some Spinners. I tell ya', Mr. Phillipe Wynn was such a special entertainer. After all of these years hearing the Spinners on the radio, but not really looking at their live performances; this man was a great vocalist and dancing. He just had it. I've been diggin' the Spinners every since Their first big hit "It's a Shame" with Motown. When he left The Spinners and joined up with Parliament Funkadelic I thought and still do that that comical grown men in diapers up on stage was beneath him. This man was a great talent. Of course when Wynn had a David Ruffin moment, and wanted it to be Phillipe Wynn and The Spinners he was through as a member of one of the most dynamic groups of the '70's. And after he left or was fired from The Spinners he just never found his way back to real stardom. Anyway The Spinners left this world a legacy of great music and live performances. May all of you gentlemen RIP. God bless.
Back when entertainers actually entertained! Pure talent along with hard work earned success. Today, money buys a temporary spotlight. All you need is good looks add auto tune and pitch correction to a repetitive beat and weak lyrics and you get today’s music. Name a group today that sounds like this… Sad not one exists.
The spinners was one of the baddest groups on the circuit in those times and was very much underated and underestimated and back then they could pack the house but when Philippe Whenn started singing he would let loose and he was the best adlib man to ever hit the stage they were an awesome Group may their Music live on Forever Rest In peace Fellas y'all left your mark in the music industry we miss you guys Sugar Self Durham North True Devotion
Man, I love the choreography from bands from this era WAY more than nowadays. I think the modern-day over production started with Madonna perhaps. But if I see a concert nowadays I just think that, if there’s TOO much choreography, they’re trying to baffle me with Bull s-t. In other words, they’re trying to make me listen less to the music by having all this dancing to hide vocal flaws. But these guys are pretty entertaining. If you want to see really funny stuff though watch some Amy Winehouse videos with her dancers-slash-backup singers. They were awesome! They were really good but comical too.
At 0:48 I think he reminds me a bit of Phillip Bailey. I’m guessing these guys were an inspiration for Phillip who might be the greatest singer ever in the genre.
This gives a great visual for the track that appears on their double disc anthology, though that cut has the crowd erupt way more during the tribute rap part.
One of the Best Groups To Ever Do It! May they all Rest In Peace! And we are So Blessed to Still Have The Living Legend Al Green!! Blessings To You Reverend Al!!
The Bass player is on another level. The wah wah petal of the guitar was miniscule but steady with great filler. I love this band performance.
My all-time favorite Spinners joint. This performance gives me chills. Philippé Wynne was just an absolute beast.
He really was
Ahead of his time
It's August 26, 2024 at 71 still love the Spinners nothing like that old school music and groups like this 🏆 wonderful performance 👏 ❤️
Real voices, awesome lyrics, fantastic musicians, well worth the price of admission. Glad I grew up in a time where the music was simply great.

Phillipe Wynne was such a great performer.
Awesome performance!!! I just don't hear good music like this nowadays!
What great times the 70's were in music and showmanship. Pure talent, no filler, no backing tracks, or lip singing. Just a whole lot of fun and joy.
1974...2024... What happened? Those beautiful harmonies are a thing of the past.
Happy Tuesday... thank you for sharing! 💖
But now AI can generate new songs in any genre in seconds, even replicating your favorite singer! What's not to love?

One thing about bringing these "Midnight Special" episodes to RUclips is that I missed a lot of these growing up, great history.

Also, today's music is heavily focused solely on the beat at the expense of other rudimental parts of musical development.
Phillipe Wynne and Henry Fambrough singing lead. Rest in Paradise to all of the late, great Spinners. ✨️🙏💛
