I know dozens of black people, like myself, who had horrendous upbringings without a father present. A mother that was on drugs, or beat her children, or much worse. They are kind, compassionate, caring people. They work hard and made a life for themselves. Some have mental health issues, some don’t. This is no excuse to live a life of crime and breaking the law, period!

Well stated! And not just breaking the law, but MURDER no less. Domestic abuse. Weapons charges. Then, invoking religion is insane. The fact that they were hoping he would go to a mental health facility, as if that was an option or would be a ‘lesser’ experience and as if he could be mentally reformed - also insane! The fact that the grandmother, a ‘Dr.’ ignores FOUR doctors who diagnosed him with ASPD is also insane. The fact that grandmother said that mental illness has afflicted her family for generations - I agree, they have each passed down enabling, and blaming everyone except accepting blame. That is how these monsters are explained.

That's because you have a conscience, a heart, and a soul beloved by God Almighty. Darrell Brooks, on the other hand, has none of those things. And speaking of mental illness, I'd like to ask -what was YOUR excuse. Dawn Woods, for your complicity in this tragedy by letting your worthless son Darrell Brooks use YOUR car again, right after just bailing him out of jail after Darrell hit Erika Patterson - with YOUR car? Was it mental illness that 'forced' you to let him use your car? Or was it total disregard of the law because you knew he wasn't supposed to be driving, and you let him drive YOUR car - again - anyway? I'm inclined to believe the latter, and it is for this reason that I believe YOU need to be in jail right next to your murderous son for being an integral part of this tragedy.

@@mygirlcheech85 the thing he is being accused of (no matter how obvious) is the thing that has to be proved. That is the job of the prosecution. The judge is actually meant to be, or at least appear to be, an impartial mediator. The only people who determine what he did, is the jury. The only people who present evidence for the crime he is accused of, are the prosecution. She ran it more than fairly because she knows what he is and how to handle him. She marched on and got it done. But if the judge is shown to be biased, he could get a retrial. So many times when he said 'do you know if there even IS a plaintiff in this case?', I wished just one of those witnesses would say '6 people are dead Mr. Brooks' , but it wouldn't be proper. We outside of the case have the luxury of expressing our disgust without reservation or restraint, but the prosecution, witnesses and the judge had to meet certain ethical obligations and to conduct themselves to a faultless standard. It worked'; he is never getting out.

The elephant in the room has to be addressed here. This judge, contrary to popular sentiment of securing the record for appeals by Brooks, has done the American justice system a great dis-service. Notwithstanding that she did in fact do a good job, in a legal sense, of ensuring this animals' prospects of a successful appeal are greatly diminished, she singlehandedly allowed this human excrement to take almost complete control of the courtroom. The instances are too numerous to recount here (Day 12 a great example), but be assured, she has given hope and succour to every sovereign citizen in the US and for that matter internationally, that they can get away with the disruptions he caused. This will be manifested in the near future. She is not a good judge and every time she allowed this piece of shit to take control, she slapped the victims in the face. Disgraceful, and no wonder she wasn't able to get a seat on the Supreme Court.

I wanted to finish this so I could close the book on this case, but I had to take 50 breaks listening to him talk because it was so cringy, disturbing, frustrating and just ridiculous. I have a family member who is a sociopath, who drove my mother into an early grave. My younger sister. Our Dad is still alive and it hurts him that I won't have anything to do with her for my own sake. And she'll probably drive him into an early grave too, but I won't join him in her bullshit. I deliverately moved across the country almost 20 years ago to free myself from her grasp. But I refuse to let her be a part of my life. A sociopath in your life is going to do one of 3 things, wear you down, destroy you or kill you.

I have a narcisistic brother, a hyper-religious father, and a sister who's borderline, so I know what it's like to be affected by those who have a mental illness. As evidenced by this case, it's too painful for parents to accept their child's actions because they feel guilt, shame, regret, and ineptitude in how they parented. Sometimes it's no fault of their own, as they did everything right and tried to get help. My heart goes out to such parents. Sorry for the loss of your mother. He spent way too long talking about himself and saying horrible things toSue Opper the District Attorney. I hope she lets nothing of what he directed at her to affect her. He’s not worth a single ounce of her time. My heart goes out to all the victims and to the prosecuting team and to Judge Dorow. Everyone in that courtroom had to endure his abuse, lack of respect and lack of remorse, the rolling of his eyes, his horrible words, his laughing under his mask. Just a thought for everyone angry that he didn't say he was sorry. I can think of two reasons why he wouldn't say it. First as he is going to appeal he may feel that apologizing would be an admission of guilt and therefore something he does not want to do. Secondly he may still believe that he is the victim and that he is being persecuted and he is the one who should get an apology.
This is something I have experienced. My father was a child molester. He ruined the lives of a number of people. I am one of them. After telling my story in the court, getting crossed examined and having his lawyer change his plea to guilty he asked to talk to me before sentalencing. Like an idiot I thought he was going to apologize. I though he was going to take responsibility for what he did to me. He asked me how I could have done this to him. It was my fault what he was going through. The years of abuse he put me through was nothing compared to what he felt I had done to him.
I believe that Darrell Brooks will never apologize because he believes he is the victim.

Using the Bible to reinforce your own talking points isn’t too impressive when my Christian faith assures me that I can cooperate with Christ’s character being formed in me with evidence of the Fruits of His Holy Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness and self control. I’m an RN and always thought I understood patients I took care of until it happened to me. A horrible loss. You’ll never understand unless you experience it and I don’t wish it on anything. Your ok one second, crying another, smiling sometimes, angry other times, wake up remembering what happened and fighting to get out of bed, PTSD, depression, sadness, loss of desire to do things. Acceptance some moments and you feel ok, then back to grieving. This is an everyday emotion that is hard to deal with but with support you can fight to continue your life and it’s so so hard. The why never goes away or wishing you could go back in time. The emptiness will always be there no matter how long it’s been. RIP all that lost their lives, survivors, and families, my heart goes out to you!!

Freedom comes with responsibility. And responsibility is sorely lacking here

I just finished watching DB’s mother’s statement. I understand she is a mother and loves her son, but I must say I am APPALLED by her statement! Her statement was an insult to the victims. She did not claim her son was responsible for anything, but instead blamed mental illness and centered her whole statement around mental illness. The only address she made to the victims was that she understood their pain and hoped for God to comfort and heal them. There was absolutely no apology for what her son did!!! Her only concern was what would happen to her son and seemed to imply she thought he she should go to a mental facility to be treated instead of be punished in prison. She had no empathy or concern for the victims.
But I must say I am not surprised. DB is exactly the same, with concern only for himself and that which he loves (not much other than himself), does not take responsibility for his actions, nor does he apologize, have empathy, guilt, or true repentance.

She was down right insulting to the victims. She has no idea how they feel, they were murdered for dancing, walking, etc in a parade 😢 he's exactly like her.

I can’t stand his mother either. She is as big of a liar and menace to society as her worthless son.

A lot of people are disgusted with her but she should really be neither here nor there. “Her only concern was what would happen to her son.” THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF HER BEING THERE. She’s not going to ask to speak in his behalf and get up there and shit on him. It’s not just her either, I see this happen with lots of defendants, especially in murder trials, when their families speak for them. The purpose of speaking at sentencing is to have your words considered FOR the sentencing. You either talk about the impact this crime had on you to call for higher sentencing, or you speak in behalf of your family member, ABOUT your family member to call for lower sentencing. If your the defendants family member your purpose is not to address the victims, or apologize to them or acknowledge them though it is a good thing (as a human being) to do. Your purpose is to talk about your family member, the defendant and it’s always going to sound trivial and tone deaf in a murder trial. This “Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” and “he’s just like her” nonsense is just that, nonsense. If your son did what he did and you claim you wouldn’t speak on his behalf then you wouldn’t be there at all. You don’t choose to go speak for them and then condemn them more, that doesn’t happen, you just don’t show up. Expecting anything different from a mom or grandmother during a sentencing is silly and blaming a grown man’s actions on other people. That’s probably what got him there in the first place. You want him to take accountability and at the same time you say it’s mommy’s fault 🙄

His mom should be put in jail, she rushed to get him out on bail. If she had left him in jail , he could not have ruined the lives of many. Listen at her still making excuses for him😡😡😡

These are manipulative people from Satan's seeds$
