Tennis Evolution - Online Tennis Lessons Ok. That was harder than I thought it would be. I must be more off balance on my FH than I realized. But after a bit I found that I saw the ball more clearly and I was able to easily rip the ball down the line. I was still having some issues with the open stance holding it, because of the momentum I was generating
Great video. If you hit the ball crosscourt, you do not need to get back to the middle, only to the place you show in his video because the likely return will also be crosscourt back to you.
This is THE most important tweak that takes care of multiple key issues all at once. I completely agree! This is SUPER important! Thx for teaching this! Bravo!!
It helps me more 10 min video of you than 2h lesson!! What about the two hands backhand? I think the balance it's identical to the forehand if I'm not too far from the ball but what does it change when I hit the ball running? Thank you for your passion!
Awsm video as always ! Thank you and also thanks for the knee bend advice , have been struggling for many years , please can you make a video on it as to how much knee bend is enough or required , cze I see the pros are so low when they are playing a match!
Great advice. Thank you If you watch Federer in slow motion, you see that both his eyes and head stay down even after he's followed through. It's incredible. It's as if, or really is that, he is not looking where he is hitting. Complete balance/stability
Love this, Jeff. Wide base - anchored at the root - through the court/ground - prepared for next move - with timing + relaxation. For me - in a very simplistic expression - it just feeeels good. The feeling of balance - and then on my good days - timing - nothing like it. I cant help but think of the slow motion vids of Federer's FH. His head is so still - relaxed - focused with directed energy - it stays on the ball even after the ball has left his racquet. Or Nadal - in his feet and movement - with a wide balanced focused base. I'm not sure it's a teaching tool, but when my accuracy goes whack I will go back to ball striking 101 - watch the ball - and I relax my upper body (I do a lot of meditation for many yrs so not hard for me) and just keep my focus on the ball a split second longer. It works for me. And in my movements - unless I'm tiring - I like to think of Rafa and his fantastic powerful balance in his movement. I want to feel it in my body from the feet on up. Again - it feels good - gets the blood flowing - energy up - until I collapse as I'm still working on getting in better shape. Haha!
Awesome tips Jeff. Re the horse stance, totally agree about it - the book by Dr. Kelly Starett called 'The supple leopard' recommends that posture for all activities be it static or dynamic movements.
Jeff, would love to see you do a video on the Pure Drive. Seems to be your racquet of choice. Interested to hear your take on this frame, what you like about it,any customizations, and string choice and tension.
I think you have to be careful here in a universal stance. Applying the goal of how to recover on balance I see as different than the balance involved in setting up to hit the ball. In the set up I believe you find the hip is hinged rather than in the horse square. The hinge allows the player to place more weight on rear leg or planted leg for the hit and allows a better chain of power reaction allowing the hips to slightly lead the shoulders as the stroke initiates toward ball strike.
Great advice! I’m working on balance with my daughter, so we will watch your video together. FYI: your father was my very first tennis instructor at Forest Lake here in St Louis way back in the day!
Why do pros always talk about the mistakes club players make? Why can't you approach the lesson with: This is how you hit a forehand. Period. Show us how to hit the shot. Tell us what to do. Wow..
Tennis Evolution - Online Tennis Lessons these ball are usually shoulder height or higher , what do you mean by eyes down can you please brief us some relevant points on high balls and head positioning plz
Superb! Very helpful for those of us who were never coached or mis-coached (with good intentions), or tried to figure it out from watching tv. Thank you, Jeff.
This really helped me a lot, I have big old heavy head and without noticing it I think I always pull it too early and made me lose balance, after this video, I made sure to let the head sit there even after the shot and my shot improved a lot! Thanks!
" Can you stick the landing! " Man i love you! The Realness is right here. Thank you for your effort and your passion. Best Tennis Tips my lefty brother
Love this advice, Jeff. It looks like a small thing, but it's actually super important and gives big impact when the players do properly. I love your other videos too. Keep it up!
Hi Jeff. Absolutely amazing. Spot on. Rarely you find a great player with great coaching skills who can flawlessly explain in plain terms what needs to be done. Crystal clear. Salute sir.
To be specific, the rear leg/foot shouldn't recover until after full extension of the arm. The rear leg/foot may even move in the opposite direction, in the forward swing (especially if the feet are off the ground at contact). Recovering too early will totally destroy elastic energy. Tapping the rear foot in the follow through is a great way to teach the body to move properly.
Improved right away on my forehand has been struggling for long time I even ran around on my backhand to return on the forehand side playing 4.5 player in double fortunately won most of the match previously but forehand was awful until after watching this video my forehand is better then my backhand now.
I totally agree with this video. Great exposition. The kung fu horse is the strongest position and prepares the body to move. Tennis is sport that can use a lot of martial arts techniques.
thank you so much ... I have a question . may I make subtitle for your videos in our language and share them as free videos in my channel ? I wanna do this for tennis players in my country and also myself ... DO you let me do this ?

Awesome lesson Jeff! I was wondering if you have ever dealt with this strange problem on the forehand? A player who starts the swing with a bent arm, but then straightens it through the swing until it becomes completely extended at contact.(exactly like a baseball or golf swing). I believe it may be the reason for my inconsistency, because the rest of my swing is textbook. Do you know of a way to fix it? I've done a million shadow swings, but I go right back as soon as I add the ball. I could sure use your help, it's ruining my fun on court.

Try hitting without pigeon toes your balance will improve and it's easier to make your next move.
Yes!
Thanks Jeff! I'm going to practice on my ball machine right now! Steady heady, right leg tapping, and squared wide base finish.

If they are watching the ball hitting their racket, that would tke care of that.

Hello Jeff does this applies to high balls also where we do back to front jumping and landing ? I meant head at dominant side
It is a little different. Definitely have to keep the eyes down and the head still.

You really do look at tennis with fresh eyes. The dynamic movements of tennis are made up of moments of stillness and balance. The tai chi of tennis.
Thank you Jawad!
Love this. Very useful. All these years I was focussing on start and never though ending is so important. :)
Thanks for your comment! Yes, your finish in all strokes is very important, yet overlooked.
