The Nike Pegasus 35 Turbo running shoe is a great training shoe and has the potential to be a great racing shoe as well. Today I did a speed test in the Nike Pegasus 35 Turbo running shoe in order to test how it would perform at higher speeds. I did a two-mile time trial on a concrete bike path today. I have not raced a two-mile distance since high school! I managed a 10:10 two mile time, not bad for this 33 year old. The Nike Pegasus 35 Turbo running shoe performed splendidly at this speed. I firmly believe, that after running in the Nike Pegasus 35 Turbo for 100 miles, that you could use this shoe for training and racing. Is the Nike Pegasus 35 Turbo in the running for the best running shoe in 2018? ABSOLUTELY! I will easily place the Nike Pegasus 35 Turbo running shoe into a top 3 shoe in 2018. I like the Nike Pegasus 35 running shoe as well, but the Turbo version of this Nike running shoe simply goes to the top of the class for a 2018 running shoe.

I just want to say absolutely amazing editing today. You smashed it. I think this is the best editing you’ve ever done. This was so cool to watch. Love you Seth!
Ah man, you rock! THANK YOU. **If you keep watching, I'll keep filming!***
seth how do you get your clips of the video of you running from all different angles if you're running a time trial?
Nice! My Nike Pegasus Turbo is coming in the mail right now :) Few weeks ago I set my half marathon PB with Pegasus35 and can't wait to see how I do with the Turbo! I'm glad you got your usual joy in your eyes (after the unpleasant incident ) 🤨
I absolutely loved the cutscenes in the time trial section! You have such a good eye for these shots!
I appreciate you being here and for noticing the cinematography. One clip at a time.
Good to see you running great times and crushing runs! Keep up the great work, your a huge motivation for me! I'm starting up my winter training for my senior year track season within the next few weeks, so your videos make me want to keep pushing on. Love your videos man!
Wonderful Wayne, winter miles will make for a fast spring.
2! Great shots!! Great work! Great review!!
Love the bonus video! Great review
TWO. Love the peg 25 turbo review!!!! I have 20 miles in mine and they feel amazing....like a cushioned glove on my feet.
Bravo!
All the different camera angles are so cool
Onward Liam, one clip at a time.
Keep up the good work from canada!
Thanks Thomas!
2. I’ve put in just over 50 miles in my own Turbos and I’m absolutely loving them 👟🏃♂️
2! Thanks, Seth! Great review
Great Video!
Great work!!! Nice video my friend 👌
Thanks for watching!
2 - my "fast shoe". New Balance 1400v6. Super light and just feels...snappy! Once again! Solid video! Until tomorrow!!
Cheers until tomorrow.
Great video Seth keep up the great content but do you think you can give me advice on a race I have coming up this weekend it’s the Usatf National meet for XC it’s 2.5 mile distance plz give some tips on how to attack the race
Rai, what is your goal in the race?
Answer that question, then I can help.
Seth James DeMoor well I’m going I ranked 6th over all I’m in the 13/14 age group and I’m look to go into the 13:00 to 13:10 range for this race so I can get a pr but I heard that the course is hilly so I wanna know how I should attack the race so I don’t die out on the hills
The Turbos on the treadmill feels amazing... I love running with them on the treadmill
I just raced a half in the turbo's (1:31:18 - Bethlehem PA). I think it is a perfect race shoe for that distance. I like a cushioned shoe for that distance and the turbo is so light weight AND cushioned - I love it! I think the ReAct foam layer adds the stiffness (along the lines of the vaporfly 4%) and the ZoomX gives the cushioning. Perfect shoe for me. Only issue I have -- and something I'd love to hear you ask other viewers - is the durability. For $180, I'd like to get 400 miles on a pair of shoes, but at 250 the rubber on the outsole is wearing away in spots - which makes me concerned about throwing off my form and causing some nuisance injuries.
Mark, great question on the shoe durability. Once I hit 200+ miles I’ll let you know what the outsole looks like.
I have just purchased some Zoom Flys, what's your opinions on them? Loving the content of your page also.
Really amazingg video mannn, the edit was superrr gooddd. Anyways Seth, what would you recommend regarding "How to breathe while running?" Should i breathe through my nose, mouth or both?? Or should there be a breathing pattern that i should follow?
Great video and editing! Getting artistic on us. Curious about your issue with the Vaporfly...I just picked up a pair and tried them on my Sunday long run and loved them. Very different than the Turbos that I use for my go-to trainer. I have over 500K on the Turbos and the outsole still looks great. I agree with you though, the Turbos would be just fine on race day. I have been using the Nike Zoomfly SP for the 5K and 10K road races. Obviously will be replacing that with the Vaporfly.
4%s I think are made more for the heel to toe motion, and I had an issue last week with toe striking exclusively in a 5k race.
thank you for sharing they always great run,
You’re welcome
Pegasus 35 turbo
My go to shoe is probably my noramal training shoe Wich is the Saucony Clarion
Amazing video you are the best !!!
thanks!
Awsome Video and what's your 5k pr
14:46 - thanks for the comment.
My go to racing flat for the 5k and 10k distance is the sketchers GoRun Razor
Love, love, love Saucony Type A8 for road mile to 5k and gently rolling 8k - 10k; Saucony Fastwitch 7 & 8 (touch of medial support) for hilly road 10k up to HM. Both are light weight and flexible 4mm drop, terrific ground feel. Comfortable and give me "my feet are flying" cartoon legs feeling :)
Wonderful Suzanne, just wonderful. I’m trying to be more attentive to ground feel in all these different shoes. You’re helping me discover that sensory data through the feet.
@@SethJamesDeMoor 😉👍🏃💨
I love my Reebok Floatride Fasts for speed work. Gotta love those PEBA foams.
Wow, you have the Floatride Fast!? I'm very interested in this shoe.
@@SethJamesDeMoor I have the Floatride Fast and the turbos. Definitely prefer the Floatride Fast for a 5k or fast workouts.
Hey, the turbo actually uses react and Zoom X. Where it says Zoomx on the midsole its actually react, and the top layer is zoomx. Just thought id let you know. Great vid as always anyway.
The only show that I've reached in (new distance runner) is the On Cloud surfer. Loved it. Great shoe
Kinvara 9. Super light and bouncy at all distances.
New Balance 1400 v6 !!!!! beauty
We LOVE you!
We love you and your family! Go Brigid!
Love the turbo's aswell, got them in the same color as you! For 5-10k races i mostly use my nike zoom streak 6. The peg turbo i use for 15k and above
That's fair Jordan for the Turbo use. Thanks for the break down on the shoes.
I got this shoe this week and ran a 7. Felt amazing. Soft and light. The only concern how long the midsole will last.
Have you tried the Skechers Go run Razer 3 Hyper?
Not yet! Skechers Go Run Razer 3 is on my radar!! Thanks for the reminder to keep it in hopper.
I’m 39 and thinking on buying this shoe i run almost every day but trying to put miles and miles not for competition but for my self and i’m at the 14 miles already but would like to get full 26+ miles new sub and like every videos
Go go Turbo! Not sure I like the Hoka Clifton 5's as much, they feel bad on my low arches. I'm injured though, so need to give them a good test first.
If you want to try a fast 5k & 10k shoe you can try the Newton Distance. These shoes have little trampoline lugs on the midfoot that propels you forward.
Thanks Christopher, someday!
2. Great video. God bless.
My go to shoes are my New Balance Fresh Foam Zante V2s (I have a stockpile of them). They fit my narrow feet perfectly. I get plenty of protection without losing ground feel.
I just picked up the Zante 4s on Cyber Monday, I’m excited.
@@SethJamesDeMoor Awesome!! I hope you like them!!
I go for the Nike streak Lt for road races, it's as close to a track spike as you can get for a flat, it's crazy light on foot and super snappy.
Such a great lead, thank you!
For 10K up to half marathon Adidas Boost Boost is my go to shoe.
It is not EVA; it is react-foam
PR shoes: Vaporfly 4% (hard to say how its benefits ride for 5k, defitly good choice for >10k) , NB1400v6 (up to half), Reebok Floatride Run Fast Pro (mianly for
Thanks Marek for the break down on all these shoes, helps a bunch. Thanks for the comment and stay tuned for more updates on the Turbos.
At the moment i use the turbos for 5k, 10k and half Marathons races!
It is the Best running shoe i have ever Been running in!
Even though for trail 5k, 10k and halfs i use a salamon sene 7 sg🏃♂️🏃♂️
Nice, what do you think of the Sense 7 SG?
I’m sure it’s been asked before, which sunglasses do you wear in these vids Seth?
NB 1400 v6 for 10k & half. You just can't beat it for the price ($99 CAD on sale)
Raced a 10k in zoom flys but upgraded to lt4s and wil use them from now on, zoom fly were too heavy!
Awesome, great to hear, this helps me a lot.
I did the same thing but I raced the 5k in them then I switched to the lt4’s😂
Great video as always! I'm new to racing, because of my size and weight I've decided to stick to 10km races for now. I've only ran 1 race, didi it in 44min, which I'm very proud of! I don't want to sacrifice too much of my muscle mass. My question is, as a heavier guy, what kind of shoe would you recommend for training and racing? I'm 80kgs, at 5 foot 10 now. But when I diet down for bodybuilding I usually weigh around 70kgs. But at that weight I'm not healthy/too skinny. If you're too busy to answer I'll understand, I'm a working dad too! Hahha! Have a great day!
Maybe look into Brooks, because I have heard that they are built for the bigger runner... look into the Brooks Ghost 11. What do you run in now?
@@SethJamesDeMoor thanks for the reply, I'm running in the ghost 11s at the moment. They are good, but my trail shoes are salomon's sense rides, while narrow I feel like they are much lighter
And just thinking if I should run races with the ghosts or switch to a more racing specific shoe for races?
Steinem, by the way, 44 minutes is a GREAT time! You should honestly look at the Turbos, have you ever tried them? I think they could work even though are a stronger guy.
@@SethJamesDeMoor thanks, I'm still a beginner, my goal is a sub 40min, but all the people I talk to about my goal seem to think that I will have to sacrifice a lot of muscle for it to be possible. I'm an all natural athlete, so it took me many years of consistency to build my physique, so it's very tough to see my legs shrink!hahah! So now I gym 5times a week for 3hours, then 5km running, and a long run of around 15-20km on the weekends. I make it work!hahah! I use many techniques for recovery, many of them are the same ones you use ^^
Pegasus Turbo are my Go to (Lightweight, love the fit, just the right amount of cushion for a Half M and below) Returned my Vapor 4%: Midsole felt amazing, definitely felt the push off, and Full Zoom X cushion was amazing but, the upper just wasn't fitting my foot right. I felt like I my left heel was awkwardly rubbing and did not want a first time heel blister.
David, thanks for sharing about your experience in the 4%s, I appreciate that analysis of the upper. Glad the Turbos are treating you well.
Hi great vid are the 35 turbos true to size I’m normally a 8.5 but I have wider feet should I go for a size 9 or keep at 8.5
Michael, thanks for watching! I think the upper in the Turbo is flexible enough that it will adapt to a wider foot, so I think you could go with 8.5. I went true to size and they fit great. Let your running buddies know about the channel, I upload a new running vlog every day : )
PS - Turbo 2 is about to release in early July just so you know
I actually have a 10k coming up in a little over 2 weeks and I have the reebok floatride run fast coming in this Friday. If all goes well I will probably be using those, if not it will be turbo's or 4% but trying to save my 4% for my half's.
Daryl, let me know what you think about Reeboks!
I have 6 road running shoes including ultraboost and my go to shoe for 5k to half marathon is under armour gemini 3, I really love charged cushioning. And I've tested peg turbos in store, the midsole felt great but toe box was pretty too narrow so I didn't pick one
That’s a fair assessment and thanks for the information about the UA shoes!
I did run my first marathon in the Peg 35 Turbo and I fear it was part of the reason why I had to fight with hip pain from km 35 on. I always feeled in my training runs that it somehow bottoms out a little bit and looses springness. So maybe 42km was too much for it I don't know we'll never know if it was part of the problem or if it was just me :)
Interesting, maybe they are better for tempos st 12 miles? That may have been a little long for them. What’s your usual shoe for long runs?
I did run in the turbos for my longs but never more then 30-32k
How would these shoes compare to the Pegasus 37s I love my turbos but need a more every day trainer
Would be interesting to try out the Nike streak 6 or adidas adizero sub 2 shoes for a 5 or 10k Compared to vaporfly 4%.Eliud kipchoge used to run in the streak 6.
That's interesting about the Streak 6 and Kipchoge. Thanks for the intel.
I kinda want to see what you can do in the 800
I realy love your running content. Inhaling all your videos, even though i should study for my lawexams. You have such a positive and inspiring attitude. Greetings from Germany
Jonny, danke! Thank you for watching all the way from Germany. Now go study.
Hi Germany!!!!!!
How did you get all of those shots during your time trial?
That's the secret sauce : ) I'll do a 'behind the scenes' at some point!
Nike Zoom Elite 9/10 or Streak LT... 5k, maybe 10k (but when you get "older" you may need more cushion... :) Skechers Razor 3 hyper is on my radar! VP 4% for 10k and up distances.
Yes yes! 👟👟
I don’t have a specific shoe for shorter distances, everything below 1/2 marathon, because I never really focused on those distances. Lately I have been finding it fun to beat my PR on shorter distances too (time trials, Yes I like them too :)). So I’l probably invest in a very lightweight race shoe soon, but which one...
Mathias, I just picked up the NB Zante for cheap on Amazon, stay tuned for my initial impressions.
Seth James DeMoor Awesome! Very curious about that one without a doubt!
Zoom Streak LT4. Wow.
I head many people said the durability is not good, is it real?
Plan to get one, but I worry won't last for long
I think 250-300 miles for the durability.
Qotd - I have said it before, and I will say it again... I love my Adidas Boston’s. Just did a PB in the Wilmslow 10k (near Manchester). Love the shoe :)
Using a pair of standard Pegasus 35s - not impressed. Feel a bit uncomfortable 🥵
I want to get some Pegasus Turbos but might have to wait - starting to gather many shoes 👟
Nice time trial! Streak LT2 for a peak 5k. 4% for 10k.
Rory, forgive me, but what is the major difference between the LT2s and lets say the LT6?
@@SethJamesDeMoor Not sure if you mean the Streak 6 or the LT4. The Nike Streak LT2 just has a good feel too me. It is light and responsive and has a wider forefoot, which may feel sloppy to some, but works for me. I haven't tried the LT 4 but the LT3 had that slapping feeling to it when hitting the pavement. As for the streak series, I wish I could run in them but the arches are built way too high up for my low arches and it feels like I'm running with a stone under my foot.
Yes, sorry, meant the Streak 6. But I think you already answered my question. I hear what you mean about the 'slapping the pavement' feeling, can't stand that. Thanks for the prompt reply Rory. Decisions, decisions... "So many shoes so little time"
last years model.....the 2017 New Balance 1500v3......Don't care for the 2018 version, doesn't have the same forward flow. Looking for a new racing shoe.
What socks are you wearing? I like the color. :)
Would these shoes be a good idea for track in the mile and 800 meter?
I don’t think so, not quite grippy enough for a track race. Have you ever worn a track spike? Nike Milers in the Bowerman line up are my go to.
I have worn track spikes before but only for sprints in middle school😂I’ll have to check those out thanks
Any tips on overcoming achiles after 7 weeks of rest/super low millage plus I've gone to physio and still sore
Oh man, sorry. Are you able to go to a gym for strengthening exercises? That would be first recommendation, but maybe that creates too much pain?

Huh? What’s this in reference to?

Has anyone used the Adidas sub2's for a 10K or Half Marathon? So Far I am using them for track work only
I have not, I hope someone can help give you some insight.
Should you run or workout when you’re sick 🤒?
Depends on what the sickness is? Cold? Flu? Sore throat?

Well, I'm currently using the Peg Turbo for training and have the Vaporfly 4% (non-flyknit) that I save for race-days. That's 10K distance.
Understand completely that the Vaporfly was designed for Marathon runners. However, it undoubtedly benefits me by being lighter than the Turbos, and also by increasing my stride length slightly (meaning faster pace). It also gives my elderly legs the cushioning needed, where racing flats would completely knacker my knees.
Thanks for the comment. How is your body reacting to the carbon fiber plate? Any issues? Just curious.
@@SethJamesDeMoor They feel fine on me, but it makes sense it could be uncomfortable if you have a foot injury as it leans you forward with a bit of an arch. They are certainly less comfortable than the Turbos though, agree with you.
Oh also the narrowness can make the VF a little more risky round corners or more slippery surfaces.
