I love the Flagellants unit in AOS. Thought of an idea where Flagellants are devoted to their respective cities and not just the gods. Because they work so well in Phoenicium lists because of the special rule they’d be fanatics that worship the Ur-Phoenix and believe if they die in battle serving the God beast they’ll be reborn as a Phoenix Guard. Obviously this isn’t true but that part of their tragedy. I’d kit bash Flagellant parts with Kairic Acolyte part maybe to get the look. They’d also tar and feather their prisoners with molten amber and feathers to make an example of those who oppose the Ur-Phoenix. They’d be the opposite of what the Phoenicium stands for which is learning and art but won’t go away so the Aelves of the city put them to use as fodder in battle. I’m ranting again. Great videos!
I will never not be confused as to why the Warrior Priests and Witch Hunters didn't make it into the Cities Battletome. Not only are they still relevant to the lore and the idea of the Cities but they both would fill a niche that is missing in the roster.
Maybe they have a book eminently planned for them. That seems to be a major reason why the High Elves weren’t included in CoS. The Lumineth Realmlords where right around the corner when the Cos book was released.
@@ITKing85 Possible, but it would then be weird that Cities would have their only current unit, i.e. the Flagellants. That and all their lore thus far has them firmly embedded in the Free Cities and working with those forces. It would be weird and require a lot of explaining to make work. But maybe I'm just missing something.
I Think they Will come as an Army later on. Think sisters of battle theme. (Not That they are all Girls but, but mortal battle nuns/ monks) and then New models for priests and witch hunters 😊👍 atleast i Hope so 🤗
Soulbound was very good for fleshing out the lore of AoS. I will probably GM when my friends and I play it, otherwise I would play a Longbeard Dispossessed. Dwarf/Duardin classic to the end.
The Devoted of Sigmar models that are no longer sold still have points values in the game. So if you manage to get them, you'd still be able to play the army.
2X40 Flagellants on the other side of the table. Charged in, couldn't figure out why opponent didn't want to attack as I had obliterated half of each unit the combat phase. And then I saw why.
I think a Devoted of Sigmar army would be a good way to incorporate crusading knights and battle pilgrims similar to the Bretonians. I also thought it might be interesting to use the crusades as a sort of recruitment drive to create new Stormcasts, as the originals are getting worn out from the reforgings. They might be able to use it as a way to incorporate new/old gods. They find sparks of old and new gods, and They want to use the Devine material to make a soul alloy’s for new Stormcasts. But in order to get enough material they have to spread the worship of these gods, Ala Morithi and the Heart of Khaine.
With the new announcements of the new Witch Hunters, could you do a lore on Witch Hunters in general and then this father/daughter Hunter team that were announced??
Doug, I would love to see you do a video on Soulbound and the AoS lore it brings to the world/game. I plan to get the game at some point, but before I get to read it I need my appetite whetted by a lore-video from 2+Tough!
I'd say their sacrifice is *more* noble than the Stormcasts. I mean, yes the Stormcast lose some part of themselves each time they come back...but they come back. The Devoted of Sigmar don't. For them, dead is D E D, dead.
Another great video! Settle down man, you’re killing it too much these weeks :) Would be amazing the Devoted was revamped and came out as an Azyr supporting army when that realm comes out with an army of Sigmar. Also the Order of Azyr would make a crazy amazing sub-faction! Have a great week man and keep it up
I wonder how the devoted deal with of how stormcast are chosen. If they don't get yanked up in lightning, do they feel unworthy or would they feel cheated?
My warpriest i made was a former mage apprentice, whos teacher tried to convert his student to the teachings of Tzeentch, so now his goal is to create sect dedicated to huntinging Tzeentch, focusing on unbinding spells and getting into melee when fighting deamon.
Play what I refer to as the “Mace” essentially whenever the church makes a offer there is a threat of force to it and my character is one of those hidden maces
I know that you can’t play them in AoS anymore but the witch hunters of the order of Azyr seem prominent in the lore (at least in the Callis and Toll books) and I was disappointed that they were not mentioned in the Devoted of Sigmar video.
I think it's better not to have them, it sounds way too much like 40k ecclesiarchy. I am a massive massive fan of that Priest of Sigmar with the warhammer though.
I feel kinda the same except with less corruption. It would be nice if they expanded on the positive aspects and less... Zealotry of the priesthood in the future
Yes. I played a one-shot last Monday. It is really good. I made a review yesterday if you want to check it out And yes I am aware that I am being shameless in my self-promotion
They would be like CR 30~ they are not on the level of dnd gods but they are extremely powerful beings. The chaos gods are harder to place though and Sigmar would be a higher level maybe 35~
"So who are the Devoted of Sigmar from a 40,000-foot view?"
I see what you did there Doug.

They just wanted to keep the Witchhunter models.
Holdupup soul bound has already release?

@@wolfsbanealphas617 They are something entirely different. Their level of power is absurd they would be like CR 1000

Wait, they don’t have witch hunters and warrior priests and altar of Sigmar?
