  • @Moonlytee

    When my little sister and I went to Marineland back in the day, she was one of the very few people that got to experience the Topple Tower while it was still operating. It was at the very back of the park so barely anyone had the opportunity to ride it. In retrospect, I wish I had the courage to ride it with her. I didn't know it at the time, but I ended up missing out on a very rare experience.

    I actually first heard about this ride through a Roblox game called Theme Park Tycoon 2. I was like: What is this thing? I've never seen it before. Now I know why I haven't seen it before that. Because there's only 1 left operating.

    I think the spinning actually adds an angular momentum to keep it more stable to prevent from falling over, kind of like those tops you can spin at and angle and it stays at an angle as long as it's spinning.

    Yeah these are kinda mild but great eye catchers. I managed to ride the one at Djurs Sommerland before it closed and my conclusion was basically the same. Before it closed that ride was basically a flaship of the park together with Piraten. It was always featured prominantly in the parks ads (which features way better CGI than they have any right to). And of course if you didn't know what happened to it, it got replaced by the big tiger themed gyroswing

    Not only is it the last one standing, it was the first one ever built. Not a great ride experience but it's a spectacle to behold and it is the soul of that area of the park. It has been dismantled a couple of times before the start of some seasons due to the nightmarish maintenance required. The ride has had countless events where it got stuck, even in the toppled position. The fire brigade of Ypres does a yearly training session during one of the months the park is closed to practice evacuating guests because they have had to do that on a couple of occasions. Nevertheless, I would be sad to see it go, and thanks to the incredible efforts of Bellewaerde and CDA, that day has yet to come.

    Busch Gardens Williamsburg would be smart to add this in light of Mach Tower and DaVinci's cradle exiting the park. Unique and lots of fun, and has many theming possibilities. Perhaps another manufacturer can perfect the reliability aspect.

    • @w8n4u82
      @w8n4u82 Год назад +1

      I'm not sure the manufacturer is the reason this ride suffers downtime and heavy maintenance. It's just the complexity, number of moving parts and the weight that's being toppled wich causes so much problems. The toppling of this ride is a combination of a tightly balanced tower (slightly heavier on the base so it returns upright) and some serious hydraulic pistons pushing it from side to side while rotating. A sudden wind can sometimes be enough to upset a sensor and make the ride stop. Hydraulic machinery can sometimes start leaking and a tiny leak can be enough to upset another sensor. I love watching this ride in motion because of how it does it's job even sometimes one of the countless safetysensors do their job and abort the ride sequence. Just to say that I don't think any manufacturer is ever going to reattempt building a topple tower.
