Halata masyado yung plays ng China is really more on passing and moving without the ball and scoring at the right spots, where as tayo is palagi umaasa sa iso and low post plays kumbaga wala masyado movement without the ball, indeed european system needs to be instilled much more even today.
Correct, passing and choosing high percentage shot dapat lagi, para sure ball..hirap bantyan pag ganun.. mgagawa lng yan if marami na tayo point forward/center sa ilalim
25 years later.....Gilas beats China in the Asian Games at their home court + the coach of that team, the same coach as the PBA Centennial Team.
The South Koreans have scouted our Centennial team pretty well. They knew that the Filipinos are good in isolation play so their 2-3 zone and transition play killed our chances in the Finals. Two decades later, Tim Cone admitted, they took the Koreans lightly since they were heavily praparing for the showdown with the mighty Chinese team.
Sokor is a real enigma.
Since 2003 every network uses the current Sennheiser headset which is now internationally used in all sporting events
TY
Napanood ko ng live dati yan nung 1998. Mga 10pm na ng Gabi nagsimula Ang laban. Halatang kabado mga kababayan natin. Pero lumaban pa din hanggang sa huli. Sayang tlaga Yung Height ni EJ Feihl kung ky Marlou Aquino lng Napunta Yan. Ayos Sana
Nice, thanks for the upload
Glad you enjoyed it
Unfortunately, the most admired PBA Centennial Team was lost to China ~ Chinese National Squad in the most latter part of the game. 😢 Next to it, I think nakabawi po ang nasabing team na ating pambato sa Jones Cup.
They won the Jones Cup championship against Chinese Taipei pero hindi kasali dun ang China.. Then they compete in Asian Games.. Kaso tinalo sila ng South Korea then lost to China in the semi finals.. But they brought home the 🥉against 🇰🇿

These are the times before naturalization of players because we are short sized. Our tallest is 7’1 EJ Feihl but he is extremely slow for a big man. Naturalization comes in about 2009 or later. More on one on one play instead of finding the open for three. Today is more outside snipers and athletic faster big men. This game seems by paper we can go toe to toe with China.
Visit Allan Caidic's channel, you'll see our three naturalized players playing for our national team in the early to mid 80s. Thanks
@@jusy4ever
is this the same CHINA SQUAD that faced the USA DREAM TEAM IN 96??
@@mrboo3049 I believe so
@@jusy4ever I know, These are former Steve Kerr’s shooting coach Arthur “Chip” Engleland, Dennis still and Jeffrey Moore. All played in 1985 with Northern Cement RP team.
@@melmar07
can you imagine the CENTENNIAL TEAM gave CHINA the competition. SIZE was the only big lacking factor for FILIPINOS. its not the system. because the PROGRAM of the philippine basketball is not bad. just that its lacking exposure. but if this centennial team was truly bigger with an avg height of 6"8. then we will see the difference.
i will still pick SOUTH KOREA over CHINA in terms of BASKETBALL DOMINANCE IN ASIA back then. SOKOR is much more DISIPLINED and DEADLY. especially in their DEFENSIVE STYLE and SHOOTING.. CHINA was just BIG and has much more LENGHT💯
Salamat Jeffrey Sy
This was the time when Middle Eastern countries were not that strong as it is today, with except of maybe, Lebanon. Most of the Middle Eastern countries' priority is to join the ABC Championships(now FIBA-Asia Championships) wherein Olympic/World Championship slots are usually at stake. Added to that is the calendar of PBA then. They can only join Asian Games but not the aforementioned competitions.
Sayang malakas sna centenial team na nabuo if nagkaroon lng sna ng european coach that time bka tambakan nila china.
TY
Bakit walang vs korea? Pati sana yun upload
Sori d ko na save. Ang sakit kasi ng pagkatalo.

Man, such a stacked team ung Centennial Team kasl nasstunt ng Triangle Offense ung potential..
Tim Cone did his best. TY
Dapat sinama si Asi Taulava and Erik Menk. Si Ron Jacobs dapat nag coach

Ugly game. Also unfamiliarity with each other played a role kasi simula pa lang ata ito ng preparation nila. The Chinese were also unlucky in regards their outside shots.
1 Coach Tab = Reyes
2 Coach Tim,
3 Coach Norman, Coach Toroman
