    Proud to say that I was there with my wife,children& grandchildren and not ashamed to say that tears of joy were streaming down my face as I watched Thistlecrack win the race and,who I can only describe as poetry in motion.
    Mark my words,this horse will become a legend and I intend to take my family to watch him wherever he runs.
    Hard to see any horse beat this beauty called Thistlecrack.

    Thistlecrack is an absolute MONSTER of a horse.

  • @charliebrockett428
    @charliebrockett428 7 лет назад +1

    And now here we have it !!!!
    Thistlecrack has been given the highest handicap rating for a novice after his King George VI Chase win on Boxing Day.
    The 10-year-old is rated at 171, five more than Coneygree was before his Gold Cup success in 2015.
    Thistlecrack was competing in just his fourth race over fences when he swept aside Cue Card in the King George.
    "He really is showing all the signs of being exceptional," said Phil Smith, the British Horseracing Authority's senior handicapper.
    Thistlecrack made his chasing debut in October, and trainer Colin Tizzard is planning one more race for his stable star, probably at Cheltenham on 28 January, before heading to the Gold Cup at the same course on 17 March.
    Kauto Star, winner of two Cheltenham Gold Cups and a record five King Georges, was rated 193 at his peak.

    The way he jumped and travelled...I've seen film of Arkle. Tom Scudamore didn't have to get really serious on him. He looks the genuine article. He's got to get round Cheltenham. Could be really, really special.

    Nothing will get close to this monster until douvan steps up to the gold cup in 2 or 3 years, never seen anything like this. Travels so powerfully, flies over the fences like they aren't there and quickens away whenever he wants from top class horses. Has goosebumps watching this, could be one of the best we have ever seen

    Thistlecrack has the engine or that as of Denman & the elegance to jump as of Kauto Star & has gone one better than Big Bucks in his tradition from novice to Champion Chase grade 1 winner . What will timeform rate him ! Remember Arkle was over the 200 s . This performance was awesome as he will improve further & for me the rest are chasing shadows .

      stephen fry And how do you explain the defeat by Many Clouds?

    • @MrOitoyboy
      @MrOitoyboy 7 лет назад

      stephen fry Thistlecrack is a great horse but is still a novice and got exposed at Cheltenham and the tougher fences by a true legend, Many Clouds. I have no doubt that Thistlecrack will go onto great things but he still has a lot to learn. I was at Kempton on Boxing Day, it's was a fantastic, faultless performance. Sadly he's out of the cup now. And no Annie Power or Faugheen either! Disappointing

    • @hogalog
      @hogalog 7 лет назад

      Tom scu got his tactics wrong at Cheltenham and the effort still killed many clouds. he would've won the gold cup in a hat canter, he's still the one to beat but he's not young so this coming season will probably be his best.

    having watched TC is his races he is a naturally balanced horse and that is hard to find. Usually they favour the left leg, so going left is always easier for them, my old boy favoured his right leg so he loved right hand courses. I wish the horse well and lets hope he stays safe, not like some good horses from the past.

      I tipped might bite to win the kg some time ago but I won't be coming on here to make ridiculous comments about how good he is. Time will tell us that but it does worry me just how many one hit wonders are set to conquer the world each time there is a false dawn while the horses that come back again and again are ridden over roughshod by the equine equivalents of one direction.

    A lot of comments here on Thistlecrack & being outstayed in a battle with Manyclouds . If you look at the race you will see Tom Scudamore on the outside on the bend & he probably covered more ground than Manyclouds & only got beaten a short distance. Add to that a few sticky jumps....0n hindsight Tom Scudamore should have made more use of Thistlecrack ....... & probably Ruby Walsh would have got him home. The Bookmakers know ...... best price Gold Cup under 2/1 ????

    Thistlecrack, unfortunately, didn't manage to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2019 in which he was pulled up while weakening at the tail of the field on the second circuit before Al Boum Photo, the guy which caused some trouble at Punchestown months before (regarded by some as race-fixing), won the race. He will also miss this year's Cheltenham Festival because of his recurring injury.

    As much as Thistlecrack is an excellent horse and will probably win the Gold Cup, the owners of Cue Card should not fear taking that horse on again at Cheltenham. Cue Card's form in this race is not that brilliant really if you check, even if he did manage to muster a win the race in 2015. Cue Card is surely at his best going left handed, not right, the ground is not as big an issue as most would have us believe and would surely have won the Gold Cup in 2016 if he'd stood up and more patient tactics would benefit when he can run his own race and not be concerned by a certain horse... Some horses have a definite preference for left hand tracks or right and don't show their best at the opposite, even if they do manage to win. It always surprises and annoys me that neither the jockeys, the trainers, nor the owners are able to see the bloody obvious right in front of them. Take Desert Orchid for instance, the master of right hand tracks, but a relatively average horse going left, even if it did manage to eventually win the Gold Cup, or maybe Best Mate, who managed to win a King George going right handed, but was far superior going left, especially at Cheltenham.

    • @jabhookjabcross4231
      @jabhookjabcross4231 7 лет назад +1

      Castle Horde I agree with you I would take him on at cheltenham with Cue card especially if the ground is soft. Cue card doesnt act going right handed and has much better form going left handed. im disapointed for cue card as its got a touch of the wayward lads about it; a horse that should have won at least one gold cup in my view, but never did. Also this race doesn't add up from a timeform perspective as the race is only marginally faster than the novice event won by the 130 rated royal vacation and if might bite had stood up he would have been far quicker. the proximity of the beaten horses to cue card suggest he has run way below his best as I do not believe tea for two, Josses Hill or silviniaco conti are capable of running above a 170 rating or even a high 160s rating at present. Cue Card ran to 180+ in beating coneygree at haydock on a left handed track in heavy going and the time was outstanding on the day. Perhaps that race left a mark on him as Silviniaco Conti has turned round a 40 length plus beating in a matter of weeks, tea for two won the novice chase over course and distance a year before and ran to a time 30 lengths slower than when Cue Card won the King George on the same day in 2015 and there is no sign he could have made such dramatic improvement as he was beaten by the 150 rated Josses Hill on his last outing. visually thistlecrack is impressive but the race time and the proximity of lower rated beaten horses give me reason to suspect the overall value of the form of the race. it could still be that thistlecrack is the best thing since sliced bread but I need to see him beat a high rated chaser emphatically in a well run race and sadly I expect he will scare everything away in the cotswold chase. I was hoping the Bradstocks would take him on with coneygree, with the odds likely to favour a punt on him just in case a bubble was burst!

    • @castlehorde4304
      @castlehorde4304 7 лет назад +1

      How do you know he doesn't like the hill at Cheltenham, what proof of this have you... Only the great Sprinter Sacre (at his best) has got in this horses way twice at Cheltenham and that surely was NO DISGRACE. Every other time Cue Card's been to Cheltenham he's won or been ready to win if NOT for falling... The horse LOVES Cheltenham and going LEFT HANDED.

    • @castlehorde4304
      @castlehorde4304 7 лет назад +2

      Thank you, AT LAST some common sense. We are NOT saying he will beat Thistlecrack.. I love Thistlecrack having backed him when he won at 25/1, just before finishing an unlucky second in Ireland and has been a revelation since being stepped up to 3 miles... BUT Cue Card has every right and every chance of bettering that lacklustre performance it showed in the King George and connections should NOT be afraid to take Thistlecrack on again... The 2 and half miles plus of the Ryanair are not what CC wants at at his age anymore... and with so many question marks against the participation and form of other Gold Cup horses, that race could turn into a near walkover for Thistlecrack if they're not careful.

    • @castlehorde4304

      Watch my bets? I need to watch my head with all these initials your firing at me.... Is there any chance you could find the time and energy to show the horses and races some respect and type out their ENTIRE names to save time? This is what text messaging and the likes does to you.... makes you lazy.

    • @dazfarrington2457
      @dazfarrington2457 7 лет назад

      Agreed. Cue Card clearly didn't run his race here and should he be allowed to take his chance. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get the better of Thistlecrack in the Gold Cup, for which he's currently best priced at 20/1, making him great each way value. Connections though may well opt for the ryanair and for that reason it can only be a..."none runner no bet" for me.

    I know thistlecrack eased up after jumping the last but bad horses like tea for 2 and josses hill were to close, kauto star wud have destroyed him in his prime, douvan will do the same whenever they do meet

    • @alanbryan9088
      @alanbryan9088 7 лет назад

      a comparison with how he would have fared against Kauto Star in his prime, is pointless; in his prime, Kauto Star was not a fourth chase novice, as Thistlecrack was on this occasion, and it remains to be seen how good a horse he develops into when he is in his prime ........ as for an unlikely clash with Douvan, again, it remains in the realms of speculation ............. I'm not sure why you cannot just enjoy, on face value, an extraordinary exhibition of steeplechase jumping from a novice chaser without wanting to rain on his parade .......... is it because you are not really a fan of National Hunt racing ??

      Haha!! What's going to beat it? I'll tell you this, it'll win easier than what it won the king george. I said it would win the KG on the bride. He'll have them all off the bridle coming down the hill at Chelts. Providing he gets there fit & well he'll piss all over everything.He's going 2 strides quicker than everything and has yet to come out of 2nd gear and you want to lay him? I guess there's always the minority that see it from a different angle........ :-/

    • @JL-nk1pc
      @JL-nk1pc 7 лет назад

      GC very different test to KG. Not a GC horse. Too keen and exuberant. Competition not looking great but I will happily lay at that price as its too short.

    • @leeguest633
      @leeguest633 7 лет назад

      James Maner Laying a horse because it's too short is nonsense. You haven't given me a horse that will beat it so why lay it? a 5/4 winner is better than a 20/1 nowhere. He's all class and destroyed a 180 rated horse on the bridle. He's a Gc horse don't you worry about that.
