Wow, those floors are absolutely stunning, that’s a very nice shop.
i think you got something great going on there ,,,,,, i like it ,,,,, a man shop cave is always good stuff for us shop guys
Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
Man! I'd never leave that shop. You've inspired me to go out and clean mine before I do my air system
Aww I appreciate that. Yeah I practically live in my shop. 😂👍🏼 Look forwarded to seeing yours when it’s all cleaned up and new air system installed. 😉👍🏼
New Subscriber!!! Exactly what I want to Add to my shop. I’m sure I’ll have million questions.Keep the videos coming
Thanks for subscribing and watching. Feel free to ask questions if needed. Glad to help.
You did a beautiful job!
You even notched-out your 2x4 ledger board around the metal siding...talk about meticulous!
And you made one heavy duty pedestal for your paint shaker!
Whatever it is you do, I'd use your services with complete trust!👍👍👍
Awe I greatly appreciate it that so much! Yeah my dad taught me how to do things right when building and working working with wood. 🤣
I restore and build airplanes. I just uploaded a new video yesterday. Click on my channel and you should see it. Building a Pitts Model 12. 😁👌🏼 Thanks again for the nice compliment! 😉🤙🏼
Clean install, no short cuts. Great job.
Thank you so much!! 😁👌🏼
great looking shop! nice air setup. well done, sir
Thanks
very clean and impressive shop. my question is how cold does it get where you are? if it gets cold will the compressor build a lot of water?
Thanks! It’s gets down in the teens in the winter time here in NW Ga. but I now have an automatic drain system on my compressor.
Very nice Setup!! I like how you raised the compressor up so you could access the drain valve better. Make what used to be a crappy job easy!!
Thank you so much!! And thanks for watching!
A vent towards the bottom. 6-8 inches from the bottom ledge, will allow cooler air to enter and push the hotter air out through the top vents
Great video! Thanks for sharing! 👌
Thanks for watching!
Very professional set-up, nice to see a quality install.
I greatly appreciate it sir. I don’t know about professional but it works great. 😁👍🏼 Check out my last two videos and you can see how great it works as far as keeping water out.
I am curious as to why you do not have an automatic drain on your receiver? I have an air dryer with auto drain when the level get to a point. Also i would of used window screen to prevent the bugs from getting in as well as allowing the compressor not sitting in a oven. glad it worked for you.
I got a auto drain on the bottom of the air compressor now. Thanks for watching!
Hi Cole, question. The Cambell Hausfeld air cleaner dryer, I see your air is coming in from the left. I'm aware you have to respect the direction of flow. My 60 gal is under my stairs in the garage so the air has to come in from the right. ( Can't really move it, it's in an ideal spot) Can the 2 filters be inverted so that the air flow is now from right to left. Is that a possibility? Same question for your filter regulator you have as a stand alone unit is it possible to have the air flow in the direction you want? Planning on putting the 3 together. Want to know before I buy. Much appreciate your time. Just subscribed 😊👍👍
Hey Allen! Thanks for watching and subscribing. Fixing to start back up loading again here SOON. Just bought something different today than what I normally upload on my channel. It’s a 59 Chevy Impala. Wait until you see this rare gem. 💎 😁
It doesn’t matter what side you come in on any of them. All you got to do is flip them around and your gauge will go on either side and you put the plug in the other hole on the other side. Hope that helps.
@@ColeAviation oh that simple awesome, can't wait to see that Impala.🥰
I wish I knew about these blue lines. I did mine with black iron.
I'm afraid lines will rust quickly because of moisture. I don't want to spray oil because of my paint jobs.
Btw I will try to clean my filter the way you did in other video (cost $75 nowadays)
Yeah black iron will definitely rust and your air will smell like rust in no time.
Very nice. Clean install, clean shop. Thanks for the info.
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
Very nice setup!
Thanks, & Merry Christmas!
@@ColeAviation Merry Christmas!
@@joelnrs Thank you sir!
Great set up. I really like the compressor room you added to your shop. You shop floor looks amazing. I also like the paint booth.
Thank RM! It was a LOT of work getting everything to look that good. Lol
Great setup and a beautiful shop. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Kenny Love - Thanks Kenny! I appreciate it. It’s been a long time coming and a LOT of work. It’s been my dream shop for Years & YEARS. 😁
That compressor room looks really good and so does the rest of the system buddy. 👍
Thank you!
great set up! a suggestion, @2:03 on your compressor, u dont have a shut off valve or safety in case that rubber hose or galv going in breaks. Or if u need to do work on it. Just change the female coupler from the hose to the tank
Thanks for watching and your comment! As you can see the red hose is connected to the compressor with a quick connector like a normal air hose. I got a shut off valve inside to shut air off. If that makes sense.
What brass fittings are you using on each side of the regulator? Do you have a part number? 3:26 / 7:40. Thanks! Nice setup and super clean work by the way!
1/2” to 3/8” Thanks! I need to do a shop up date video. Had a LOT going since this video. 😁👌🏼
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video Amigo, I have the same compressor and I paint also. So after running all that pipe do u notice your compressor running constantly when your painting? I know when I sand, grind or cut my compressor runs like 75% Duty cycle. I just make sure to give it a break now and then. The question is when paint a car with all that line can u coat in 1 go or do u break it down into panels? Thanks again for the video
Mine does good for the most part. It’s all about what the CFM output is. Like this one I believe is like 14. Something CFM at 90 psi. I’m gonna get me a bigger 80 gallon SOON with at least 20 CFM at 90psi so that way it wasn’t run as much. 👌🏼
VERY neat! Nice job and great info. Thanks for posting! 👍
I greatly appreciate you watching. You are more than welcome. 😁👌🏼
I installed an auto drain valve on my air tank. Works great. It's programmable. I have mine set to open every 45 minutes for 10 seconds. I installed a y filter ahead of the valve with a shut off valve so I can occasionally clean the filter without losing air in my tank. Works great. Helps keep moisture out of the tank and air lines.
That is so awesome! I been wanting to put something like that on mine. You would happen to have any videos or links on the parts you used would you? Thanks! ColeAviation
@@ColeAviation I purchased my auto drain valve from amazon. My air compressor is a two stage, 5 hp, w/80 gal upright tank (175 psi rated). I'll try to post a link. They have different voltages for the auto drain valve. Mine is 110vac and I have it plugged into a wall outlet that is adjacent to the compressor. They have 220 vac units if you want to utilized the feed supply voltage to your air compressor. My compressor is in the far corner of my 30'x60' shop adjacent to an exterior wall so I plumbed the auto drain pipe to discharge outside. I also installed a remote switch by my entry door to turn on and off the compressor. Since the auto drain valve is plugged into a wall outlet, it cycles no matter if the compressor is running or not. Probably better applications out there but for now, it works fine. 10 years and still working. (szzijia 1/2" AC 110V Automatic Timed Water Tank 2-way Direct-acting Drain Valve US Plug). The name says "water tank" but its for air compressor drains. The price of the valve was about $30. Hope this helps. Depending on your tank drain size, you might have to buy fittings from your local box store to plumb it in.
@@scruffy4647 Awesome!!! Thank you so much!! I never thought to look into one of those. But I will definitely be putting one on my compressor. 😁👌🏼 Thanks again!
@@ColeAviation I forgot to add that this drain valve longest cycle time is 45 minutes and duration time is 10 seconds. It's not adjustable for once a day cycle time. There may be other drain valves out there with more options for cycle time. With my 80 gal tank, the compressor does not cycle on when the drain valve opens. I am a home hobbyist and not running a production line.

@@scruffy4647 Thank you so much for the helpful info. 😁👌🏼
Nice setup. I like the bends opposed to the 45 fittings in the corners. Ive been debating on how I was going to install mine, and think this is a good look.
Thanks for the visual. Also love the look of the inlet from the compressor with the chromed out pipe!
Thank you sir! I appreciate your comment. It is great stuff. I LOVE IT! 😁👍🏼 I haven’t had a problem one out of it.
Nice video. Can you share some information on that paint booth please?

Beautiful shop. I'm stealing your plan for the compressor outside. It will give me more floor space and keep things quieter.
I agree. I will do the same.
I would never leave that shop! Nice setup.
Thanks man! 😂 I don’t.
When I was building my new shop my said well I’ll never see you anymore. I said sure you will honey...just come to the shop. 😂🤣
@@ColeAviation my shop is my retreat. Don’t really care how much I get done while I’m out there. I’m about to replace an air compressor that’s been there for 40 plus years and that’s what got me to your video.
@@hammer6238 - That is awesome! I’m thinking about upgrading my compressor to a 80 gallon Ingersoll Rand with more CFM.
@@ColeAviation I just ordered one from Northern Tools today. Got a Quincy 5hp 60 gallon. can't wait to get it. It'll do pretty much everything I do with compressed air. Do you recommend that rapid air line kit? Thanks buddy!
@@hammer6238 AWESOME!!! Those are great compressors as well. You will love it.
Yes sir I HIGHLY recommend the rapid air kit. Very easy to set up. Just think about how you want to lay it out so you get enough fittings to tie into you air dryers or whatever. The kit only come with so many.
Been using the Maxline system by RapidAir now for 4-5 years: Great stuff! I live 25 miles from them, and was just over there last week to pick up some extra parts. You did a great job getting your 3/4" line very straight--most impressive. That's not easy to do without their $170 straightener--although I suppose you could pull it through a piece of PVC or something. But that stuff is STIFF! And a guy doesn't want to under-estimate the value of the little bevel cutting tool, as you'll rip your O-rings all to pieces unless you bevel the inside of the tube opening.
Your shop turned out great too, by the way. I hadn't seen one of your videos since you made one when the building was just going up. Lots of progress since then!
Good morning Tom! I greatly do appreciate the compliments. I love my air system! It turned out GREAT. That’s cool that you live down the road from them like that. You are right about not easy running that 3/4” line and getting it straight. It took me for EVER to get it to look that good. Glad you liked it and stopped by to check out the progress. I FINALLY got my Piper J-3 Cub DONE and now I’m working on another one. It’s a 1943 Piper L-4 Grass Hopper which is the same as my yellow Cub but it’s painted Green and blueish silver looking and has a LOT more windows in it. It actually served in WW2. I’m working on a new update video so hope to have it uploaded SOON. 😉👍🏼 Take care!
Looks like a top install fella
I greatly appreciate it.
great job 👏 you sound like Larry the cable guy
Nice shop.
I appreciate it. It’s been a lot of work. 😁👌🏼 Check out some of my newer videos and you can see it a little better. 😁
Cool set up!! Very helpful
Thanks! 😁🤙🏼
Aw Man good show. Brand new compressor absolutely NEEDS a Derale after cooler (bout 80 bucks on amazon) with a few fittin's to get her all hooked up but STOPPING Water in your tank is the BEST Defense for a brand new compressor. All in bout 100 bucks and you can add a water separator after the cooler to trap the water created from air temp differentials and prevent ever having water in your tank nearly 96% of the time. Of course daily draining is a must just in case and I kinda went WAY Out and added a custom built 2" rigid Galvanized Water Trap/Desiccant dryer after the tank to keep water outta my systems piping cause I used Rigid Galvanized 3/4" runs. Sort of wished I saw this vid before I did all that cause i coulda saved prolly 800 bucks, sigh.
Anyway well done.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing all that. I will definitely check into one. 😁👌🏼
wow you sure done it right
Thanks
Any updates on how this system performs? I have only ever used gas pipe because of its integrity and ability to act as a heat sink to cool the air so the water vapor will turn into condensate. Never a problem. But with having to move into a new shop this year I am considering the Rapidair if it will work.
Actually, how you mounted your compressor, is exactly how they should be mounted, never bolt those legs directly into concrete, nice to hear you drain it everyday, doubt it'll ever corrode from the inside out 👍🏼
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment! Yes sir you should ALWAYS have a rubber block underneath the legs. Be sure to subscribe if your interested in airplanes. And check out the video of starting up my late Grandfathers J3 Cub. 😁
Hey man. Nice shop! Got a question. Did you just bolt the air compressor to the boards or is it tied all the way to the concrete too?
Thanks man! It was a lot of work getting it this. 😂👌🏼
The blocks are bolted down to the floor and then the compressor is bolted to the blocks.
@@ColeAviation okay thanks man. We have the same air compressor and are about to pout the pad for the shed enclosure and didn't know. I appreciate it!
@@Lightspeed30 cool!! 😁👌🏼 Hope everything goes great.
why do you need a desiccant filter for moisture if you have a moisture filter catching the water?
The water trap is to catch the water and the desiccant filter is to catch all the moisture in the air. That’s what they are made for.
The short 3ft hose coming out of the tank do you have those made? or you make them yourself thanks
Actually I bought the 3 ft hose on line SOME WHERE. 🤣🤔🤷🏼♂️
Neat job👍🏻
Thanks for watching! 😁👌🏼
Do you have a J3? I see the Cub decals and the cool J3 wall decal.
Yes sir I do. Thanks! Check out my other videos. I have been restoring my late Grandfathers early 46 J-3C Cub now for almost 4 1/2 years. We are only a couple weeks away from having air over her wings again for the first time in 6 years 👌🏼😁
Beautiful set up. You still run individual moisture filters at the gun? How often do you change those out, after every session?
Yes sir I run the black DeVilbiss HAF-507 moisture filters at my gun and it just depends on how much you paint. I don’t do painting every single day like a body shop does so one filter on the gun will last a long long time. God bless you! Thanks for your comment & God bless America🇺🇸
Like your shop. Did you use some kind of tube straightener to make those nice straight tubes?
No sir. I just use my hands. It’s not that hard to bend or straighten.
Sir, You have an amazing shop! Could you tell me what model the first Campbell air you show? I could not find it anywhere. Thank you.
I’m not a 100% sure what model it is. I can try to check for you. 👍🏼
Who built your building? Nice setup.
I did it all. Thanks!

Did you use the straightener for the pipe before you install it or just unroll it?
No sir. Just unrolled it and straighten it out the best I could. It was FUN 🤣🙄hanging it over the overhead beam in the middle. 🤣 Thanks for watching!

nashguy207 - I appreciate it bro. It’s been a LOT of work but I’m getting closer to having the shop close to how I have always dream of having shop set up. 😁
The Cub will be flying before my Grandaddys birthday this year which is August 16. I promised him before he passed that I would have it done by his birthday 2020. 😁👍🏼 I sure do miss him sitting in the shop with me. Heck he would in my office kicked back with his feet up on my desk if he was in the new shop with me. 🤣🤣
But I will have a Cub update with in a week. I will be spraying some yellow on the fuselage this week. So it will be ready to go back on the gear. Then the wings will be brought home from my hanger at the airport.
Nice! How do you keep you're epoxy so shiny? I did mine and added 1 or two coats of the clear coat but the high traffic areas are dull.
I put a thick coat of clear coat epoxy on after the paint dried. I used the Rust oleum epoxy clear coat.
@@ColeAviation yeah I did the same, is yours fairly new?

@@ColeAviation thank you 😊
Why do you want to angle your quick connects at a 45 instead of straight out? This is the kind of shit that keeps me awake at night.
😂I guess to bug people like you and make you ask questions of why. 🤣 Na....I’m kidding. 😂
The main reason is be to keep it from stressing the hose there at the fitting. If you think about it when the hose is connected on with it straight out it pulls down on the end of the hose. To where when it’s on a 45° down angle 📐 to the floor coming out of the wall it makes the hose last longer. I already had to replace a hose because out that. I still haven’t put those fitting on there. 😂🙄🤦🏻♂️
Good question though. 😁👌🏼
Hope you have a blessed thanksgiving! 👍🏼
Does it matter where in the line you put the filter?
Yes. You want your filter as close to the end of where you hook your hose on at. That way it catches most of all the moisture.
Yes you want it close to paint gun as possible and you want 25-50 feet of line out of the compressor before you run the filter.
What is the blue thread sealer on your threads?
That is Blue Monster teflon tape. AMAZING STUFF!!😁👍🏼
Is that the 3/4 kit ?
It is. 👍🏼
