Sorry my voice sounds so different today. There's a killer cold making its way through my family and my voice is a bit strained so it sounds wack af. Should be back to normal soon! (also no Hawlucha isn't rocks weak, that was a dumb graphics mistake on my end)
@@D-S-G. Ok but does anyone actually bring mons with Mirror Herb Mirror Herb itself is even more niche than the strat described due to the opportunity cost of losing out on an item that is good against 99% of teams and not the one scenario where you fight something like this
@@meeb_consumer Mirror herb is just used for one thing, swagger sets on some fast mons like Marshadow. It's by all means a gimmick because the actual use for Mirror Herb is incredibly difficult to actually pull off
I actually use an more offensive version of CressLuna, it's UrsaVolt. Not only vikavolt gets levitate, it also gets discharge stab and 145 spatk. It can also tera ice for boltbeam coverage and earthquake from luna still coming in, not to mention CC and facade. The problem is that my luck conveniently makes it so discharge paralyzes enemies during trick room turns and never fully paralyzes, turning the whole game against me
a pair that's helped me a lot in indigo disc is clodsire and cramorant, since cramorant is immune to clodsire's earthquakes and clodsire gets healed by cramorant's surfs cause of water absorb. very very fun pair that i'm glad to have figured out cause of all the double battles lol
Slurpuff also could get an honorable mention since its the only pokemon with the combination of Unburden and After You, which allows it to let slower pokemon move first when weather is contentious
Ambipom and Florges are great lead partners. Because of the way items are consumed, a technician Ambipom holding a normal gem can be gifted a life orb via symbiosis and boosted with helping hand all before the first attack is completed. This can make a fake out be just as powerful as explosion. Thief and trick work to remove problematic items from enemies while pollen puff heals off life orb damage.
@chromethug I use it in OU doubles. Tera Normal the ambipom and the fake outs one shot most everything from ogerpon to tornadus to non-bulky raging bolt. Even a bulky incineroar loses 70-85%.
I'm pretty sure one of the premier Hawlucha sets in its debut generation was Power Herb Sky Attack, so that you can activate Unburden and have a one-turn Flying nuke, then have Acrobatics to give it better Flying STAB once Herb was gone, along with Flying Press and another Fighting move (HJK, pretty sure)
vgc players: using flutter mane + chi-yu because they synergize perfectly me: using flutter mane + chi-yu because they're my two favorites (and also because they synergize perfectly)
I still need to find a way to make Cramorant good. It has rather low base stats for a single stage mon and doesn’t have the bulk or speed to get good value.
A big one I like a lot is the combination of RillaTran (Rillaboom + Heatran). Their typings compliment each other nicely, contributing 2/3 of the classic FWG core, but it obviously goes further than that. Grassy terrain allowing heatran to tank an odd earthquake when necessary is a huge help for its greatest weakness, and heatran can come in and get flame body procks to punish the u-turns that annoy rillaboom
Just wanna say fighting resists rock so it’s actually neutral I’m pretty sure Also oranguru torkoal, your Tera fire specs eruption is only a 2HKO? That’s fine, here’s a buy one get one free voucher
One really nice combo I enjoyed in Gen 8 Doubles Seismitoad + Heliolisk in Rain. The rain healed Heliolisk and doubled Seismitoad's speed, and they could throw out Surf and Parabolic Charge without hurting the other. It was really fun.
Last time I checked they were making out in gen 3 ZU or smth Edit: apparently Plusle and Minun are now comfortably separated, with Plusle having a successful career in NU while Minun is currently dating swalot and together have started a business owning the PU tier
Why are you leaking the next generations convergent evolution to the applin line? Pairy is a grass fairy type which took over the competitive scene and you are spoiling us 😢
Another "perfect pair" is murkrow gothitelle, by using prankster perish song on the first turn and then thunderwave for the next two you can prevent your opponent from switching with paralysis and shadow tag, and for some god awful reason gothitelle gets access to fake out. I usually run this set in doubles ubers with dondozo and tatsugiri. I even thought about using sinistcha and poltchageist to consistently heal murkrow and gothitelle, I think highest I got with this was about 1450 ELO which isn't very much but it's good enough for me lol.
Honorable mention: gen 3 ou big 5 teams (tyranitar, blissey, skarmory, swampert and gengar + a filler) Tyranitar is the dragon dance win condition who sets up sand and creates passive damage. Blissey walls everything on the special side (no special weaknesses because of the lack of fisical special split) and switches into statuses thanks to natural cure . Skarmory walls everything on the fisical side (no fisical weaknesses because of the lack of fisical special split). and creates spikes. Swampert is a mixed wall with a decent offencive potential with ice beam, hydro pump and earthquake. Gengar is a fast offensive threat who can also spin-block. The filler rounds out the team based on what matchup you want to improve (for example zapdos, starmie and salamance). This 5 are so good and synergetics that even when you know they are coming they are not going to be easy to beat (especially because each of them has a lot of set variety).
Obligatory additions of lili-koal and its variants, maus-ape, top-moth etc. There’s a really funny way to exploit lunar blessing btw, if you call they’re going to use it and you move after the cress, you can status the Ursaluna with sleep powder/spore before their flame orb kicks back in and the end of the turn. Won a few games with that trick lol.
it can run headlong rush, but that does leave it open to powerful attackers like Urshifu, Chien Pao, Chi-Yu, etc. Oftentimes it would have the move tho alongside EQ
Ursaluna BM is considered better, hyper voice & earth power are better coverage then EQ, cresselia's healing is nice but in VGC games are a little bit too fast for it to be worth it. cresslia just dosent have the tools to make use of it's incredible bulk, having fake out or follow me would make it absurdly op, which is probably why it dosent have them. BM ursa has a more reliable spread move in hyper voice that dosent hit your partner, and earth power is more spammble then headlong rush because it has no drawback, the additional flexibilty of being able to use different items like throat spray/life orb also help. BM ursa is also immune to intimidate which is great when incineroar is running around. and mind's eye is great for hitting tera ghost mons and fluttermane.
Sneasler/Rillaboom is an absolutely peak pair as they cover their weaknesses perfectly and rillaboom turns Sneasler into a offensive behemoth of a pokemon
Ursaluna is such an absurd monster. 140 base attack, doubled with guts, on a stab 140 base facade, increased even more with tera normal. What an absurd monster.
Another perfect pairing is Water move + Freeze dry, no type combo resists both and it can only be resisted by Water Absorb or Storm Drain users that have terastylised into an ice resisting type

1:01 (it's actually neutral to Rocks due to being part-Fighting)
in gen 8 i really liked to run tornogre (tornadus and kyogre), shame with koraidon and past paradox is kinda obsolete but it worked so well
I love pokemon yaoi and pokemon yuri!!!
My favorite is pairing regenerator with another regenerator
You might want to also mention flying press, it’s fighting and flying type. Also video idea, unique moves. Just a thought though
I was tempted but hawlucha doesn't really use it ever. i def want to talk about it in a different vid tho!
Could be a video about gimmicks that didn't work well, like Flying Press and those moves that only affect a certain type, like Rototiller and Gear Up.
You could also include ridiculous moves, like salt cure and sun steel strike, that are unique moves with unique properties
A quirk of flying press is that Tera shell terapagos technically x4 resists only that move.
Just wanna say fighting resists rock so it’s actually neutral I’m pretty sure
