    I want to get into the hobby I want 2 clown fish but no corals right now so would this work for a all fish aquarium and also if I add rock would that still be a all fish aquarium or is it literally nothing but fish

    • @BlueReefTank
      @BlueReefTank  3 года назад

      Hi Aaron - First of all, welcome to the hobby!
      Yes, you'll need to add rock as the rock will be your main biological filtration. Clownfish is a great beginner fish as they're very hardy but make sure that your tank is cycled before you put any fish in 😊 I would start with dry rock, dry sand, and live nitrifying bacteria (I use dr. Tim's nitrifying bacteria) and cycle for 2-4 weeks. Once it's cycled, then I would add the clownfish (yay!) 😄 I hope that helps and if you have any other questions just let me know!

    wouldnt it be better if there was a hole in lower portion of tank in chamber one so if the water level runs low the pump wont run dry? Also another intake cant hurt as well

    Hey man I’ve got the same set up as you! What filtration do you run? I recently swapped out the sponges for some bio blocks. But not sure if that’s enough. Good video!

    • @BlueReefTank
      @BlueReefTank  3 года назад +1

      Hey Sammy - I added some bio balls in mine and I am also planning to add some chaeto at the back in the future. For now I think that's more than enough as I don't plan on having a lot of fish in there 😁

    I recently purchased the water box 20 gallon and noticed the standard pump is quite noisy due to vibrations. Would you suggest the alternative pump you purchased to help combat the noise? Did you feel you lost any performance with switching pumps?

    • @BlueReefTank
      @BlueReefTank  2 года назад +2

      Hi Greg, each pump is different. Some create lots of noise, some are dead silent. My factory pump appears to be very quiet but the Sicce 1.0 that I bought to replace turns out to be really noisy

    How many small fish can you fit in this tank and also the cube 20. Looking to keep around 6 fish the size of small clown fish. What tank would be better?

    • @BlueReefTank
      @BlueReefTank  3 года назад

      I would say the bigger the better but if you want to keep only 5-6 small fishes and you can only fit a nano tank, this cube would be perfectly fine 😁

    Why didn't you premix your water before pouring it in and why didn't you place your rock before putting in the sand, and did you use live sand?

    • @tiloalo
      @tiloalo 3 года назад +1

      Why bother to premix for the first thank filling? I would do the same as him, doesn't make a difference.
      And his rock have relatively flat bottom, so nothing should happen even when putting the sand second.

    Which chamber did you add the heater, and what are you running for filtration, i am new and want to start a nano tank?

    • @BlueReefTank
      @BlueReefTank  3 года назад +2

      I added the heater in the middle chamber (the largest one).
      For the filtration, I am still running the included sponge and plastic bio balls. But I also added some more bio balls, carbons, and mangroves at the back. I am still not 100% sure of the location of the mangrove.
      The Cube 20 is definitely a good nano tank to start with. If possible, try to cycle your tank using dry rock instead of live rock. Live rock contains too many hitchhikers, pests, and algae. I struggled with turf algae (on my other tank) for 5 years because the live rock that I started with came with a lot of nasty stuff!
