Why should a dual-clutch not be able to handle the torque? Bentley Continental, Porsche Panamera turbo S just to name a few - they all have dual-clutch gearboxes and enormous torque to handle.
The truth is the Cayenne doesn't have a DCT with the same engine so they couldn't be bother to spend a penny more on development. This is literally just a bodykittted Cayenne. SUV buyers with money are quite unintelligent so really all they want is the badge and SUV labeling
Not even if this was half the price of the Cayenne Turbo would I chose this monstrosity over the Porsche. The Turbo does 97% of the performance of the Urus, but it's a lot better offroad, has much more trunk space, is a lot more comfortable and with the latest iteration they have nailed the looks to the point where it now looks sharp and cool but still elegant and graceful. Which is a lot more than what can be said for this. Sounds like a Lambo? Give me a fucking break. Sounds like any of the gazillion twin turbo 4-litre V8's flooding the market these days. By all means not a terrible sound, if this was a hyped up Mercedes or Audi. But it isn't. A Lambo sounds like an Aventador or Huracan. It would have been so infinitely much more cool if this SUV was a spiritual successor to the LM002, a proper, wild offroad beast. An SUV-bodied Ford Raptor on steroids. Then it would actually be cool for Lambo to make an SUV. This thing can be as capable as all hell, I just don't give a toss. It's not a proper Lambo.
suffeks there is video i watched explaining that double clutch gearboxes get overheated when towing. At least in the Cayenne, porsche choose the 8speed manual because apparently customers like to tow their toys to the track/boats to the sea with the cayenne. Plus double clutch gearboxes have a tendency to be a bit grabby around town, they are heavier and more expensive. I guess car manufacturers decided that the normal 8speeds now are good enough for everyday driving and the double clutch for more special cars.
Just seems like they’re lagging miles behind with old technology. Electric is the way forward. This thing is terrible for the environment but I can’t imagine that the kind of person that would buy this monstrosity would care...
Michael Sanders I work for an electricity company and if you think electricity is good for the environment you should take a trip to your nearest coal fired power-plant and see how much coal is consumed! Or you should go to Sellafield and see how much Nuclear waste there is in huge water tanks that will take decades to clean up! Then you should ask yourself when everyone has an electric car who is going to pay the trillions of pounds for the estimated 5 new nuclear power plants that will be required to produce the electricity needed to run them! The current nuclear plants are also going to need replaced within the next 30yrs! Then theres the radioactive waste from all these plants! There is also the electric infrastructure! Its falling apart as it is and needs billions of pounds spent to update it! Until sustainable solar and wind technology improves greatly electric is not good for the environment! In truth it is a huge environmental disaster waiting to happen! Edit: You are right on one thing though! The lamborghini is a god awful monstrosity!
Chad Sexington well obviously burning coal is going out with the Lamborghini and so are nuclear plants! Renewables are the cheapest form of electricity and the sooner our fields are covered in it the better!
you've lost the plot. the water bottle "test" is about as pointless a non-inventive, lazy journalist could come up with. Have you even seen the quality and effort that people like @mrjww put into their videos? you're just barely trying.. 20 years ago maybe these sort of low effort videos might have been worth it, but 2019.. get with it or leave room for people who actually want this job. you're getting paid for this??? ... youtubers do 10x better than this on no budget and definitely no salary. gettouttaherewiththiscrap.
I was expecting him to say he was going to try to dri...ft it, not dri...nk a bottle of water in a 1/4 mile 😑
I completely agree haha
Ahhh, the review car's wheels already exhibiting some curb rash. Right at 6:45 in the video. It's a hard-knock life in the press fleet!
Urus is cool. But i cant wait for Uranus
H H its already arrived. It’s lethal.
Urus - So engaging you can drink a bottle of water while blistering the 1/4 mile.
Love all your reviews Steve, great job as usual
Steve you ar the best. Always good to see your car review 👍
I was not expecting such a positive review, what a great video and a great car!
The challenge should have been done with a pint of Guinness 🍺 😄
Finally a journalist who pronounces Urus right
Finally Steve is driving Urus...
Spectacular but soon (2022) the EU is speed limiting all new cars.
Time to move out then
@nelson112840 nice. Who doesn't like a goat curry?

I love the pieces of music what u added for this video. hurrah
This has really grown on me!!
No it hasn't
Love the replacement for the old LM. Not before time. Love it
Awesome video. More vids please Mr. Sutcliffe
Auto Express change your name. Good review
Over 2 years production already booked.
Nothing more attractive than looking this try hard on the road..
How is the urus off road? You might say most owners of an urus wouldn’t do that but it is an suv. The Porsche Cayenne is incredible off road.
The best sport SUV but i waiting to long 12 month...
Love the test and car of course
Never will be as fast as a Porsche 918 Spyder!😜😀😊☺
Not the same class. You're comparing a hyper car with an SUV. I'm shaking my head in disappointment
the best videos
Love it!!

8:27 was that a BLAHHHHHHHH Ughhh?
!
Also what’s the back seats like?
a brothel on wheels
What a mess.
the thing about too much torque for dsg these days is bs. cayenne has dsg and so do the new Bentleys
Nope, neither of them has a DSG, both 8-speed automatics
@@nejckovac8075 ok, then panamera has 8 spd pdk same motor but 90hp less, bentley continental also gets 8spd pdk with more power

If only it wouldn't be a polluter.
Q8 In drag
no ...just no
I can easily afford this car
It's just an over priced audi q8
There is no Q8 with 640 ps V8.
@@TheEryk03 no but u can find it in the S8 smartass 😉
@@TheEryk03 beside according to vw group this car is built on the cayenne / q8 platform
@@itsomarz9337 platform is not everything. The car is good depends what you will put on the platform.
@@itsomarz9337 Correct built around the same platform, that's were the similarities stop.
I think he likes it... Just a tad.
Not dificult to understand, Bentley is confort, Porsche is sport, Lamborghini is hipersport!
With a Audi engine!
Makes more sense than a gt car
120 grand and it will still leave stains on your driveway. Undercarriage wouldn't survive an off-road session... Waist of money... Embarrassing car.
A giveaway will be much appreciated😎
Oh FFS, its Mr PROPPAAA! Wanted to watch but just couldn't.

Benjamin so let’s keep burning fossil fuels yeah? 🤔
Why would you speak of the devil?
Interesting that this weigh less than a Panamera Hybrid.
Tore Hansen is it though? Batteries weight a metric crap ton.
@@ALMX5DP I know, but still the Urus is a large SUV.
Tore Hansen true, though isn’t the Panamera the longer vehicle overall?
Vulgar in every single way....
Audi Q7. Even the Bentley Bentayga is sold with Bentley engine, this is just an Audi
I hate this guy's creepy, spoke spoken voice at the start, then when you see him, he talks completely differently.
So the devil would drive a hideous Audi/Porsche. Yeah i dont think so. He'd drive a Alfa Giulia Q.V..
He'll DEFINITELY drive a Porsche 918 Spyder!😊 ( Best car)
The bastardisation of a legendary brand on a horrific SUV platform
