Bruce was 19 when he competed in the 2017 Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition. He was clearly technically talented but perhaps a little raw in his musical maturity. It's incredible how much he has grown as a musician and pianist in the last four years. With his 1st prize win at the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition, Bruce Liu is without doubt one of the most musically dynamic and technically gifted pianists of his generation. He also has a lot of charisma at the piano, a rare quality even among well-known concert pianists.
Bruce Xiaoyu Liu is turning out to be one of the few most exciting pianists to listen to today! I love how he makes everything sparkle like new! Under his fingers the music comes alive!
Gracias!!!
À brillant performance of an often overlooked concerto. Bravo, young man. You will have the entire world lining up to hear your concerts and buy your CDs.
Bruce Liu chose to play Beethoven’s Sixth concerto and Bruce Liu’s musical GENIUS shone through both technically and artistically. This young man connects with his audience as soon as he sits down at the piano. What a bright future for a young man from a very young country! Magnificent!

Bruce is the bright future of classical piano. He has a fresh musical approach to Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev. He also have the most impeccable technique. I’m hoping he’ll record the Emperor, the Beethoven sonatas, and the Rach3.
Unfortunately your wish and mine didn’t come true for this competition! But Bruce Liu has been set up for a better reward, he did ultimately win the first prize of the prestigious Chopin 2021 competition!👏👏👏🙏
Beethoven wrote about this concert to his editor: °not one of my best°. Liu made a mistake to choose this concert, which cannot compete with the great Mozart-concertos, played by the other finalists or even with Beethovens op. 15. It is difficult to do Justice to a performer if the music is not first rate.
So you read his letters .We all should - but this is one of the early (1787-1795) 19thcenturys finest works. It's his first concerto and I enjoy it more than the 2nd in CM actually finished later-the so called no.1 Ive never seen this letter .This is my fave of the first 3 .The cminor has never been my facorite though its important for many reasons ! Anyone who hears no.2 knows it is fine music and I'd rather hear it than no.19 or 20 for the ten thousand time or no.9 which I played with my highschool orchestra . Ihope to hear Liu in some of the later Mozart concerti,23,24,25,27.No.26 has a lot going against it. I can't believe a musician could say the Bb is not the highest composition! Pooh on you ,
Sorry, Rainer Langlotz, but you have written utter nonsense. Beethoven was being severely self-critical, as is any artist worth his salt. Objectively this is a generously clever and witty concerto which has stood the test of time. Also, Bruce Liu played it brilliantly, wittily and imaginatively. A great performance of great music.

Bruce plays with delicate elegance and brio as befits Beethoven. Few pianists today can achieve such amazing artistry. BRAVO!
I am addicted to his music.
You mean Beethoven's music?
Or do you mean LIU Xiaoyu's music ? 😉
Not only a virtuoso at his age but also dashingly handsome. A joy to watch!
I also like his hands
@@patriciabravoriscal6264 YES! Beautiful long fingers that move like lightening!
I love this pianist very mutch!!! 🥰
Une telle clarté de jeu est incroyable
Hé plays so well, with à lot of émotion and watching him is à pure delight
i find this pianist's approach to Beethoven quite delightful. He really makes the works come alive.

He lets me breathless, his interpretation is breathtaking, so sensitive…A miracle🌝💥💥💥💥
This concerto is wonderful, very good quality for sure, and he played superb! What a musician. So elegant, all the character is there.

An overlooked concerto?? Leaving that aside, it is a joy to hear to hear him play!
Very exciting performance. Draws one into enjoying the music. Not necessary to comment on the technicality which is excellent. Bravo
Agreed!
I couldn't agree more, YC WONG of KL Malaysia (?).
"Draws one into enjoying the music". Very well said.
so delicate, amazing, bringing heaven to earth..exceptionally beautiful..

no6 is actually the piano arrangement of the violin concerto - this is no.2 in the catalogue .
I realized after I pressed the forward button that I had.made a grievous error with the number re: Beethoven's concerto#2

@schachfieber Not exaggerated at all, just a different take on the word from your narrow consideration.
crystal clear!
He is now a great Maestro.
He deserves the highest laurels.
Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏🎶
Congratulations...
Bravo Liu mistrzu konkursu chopinowskiego 2021

To me, Bruse Liu is the greatest pianist . I adire his flawless teniqye and musicianship. ❤
Thanks. But it's really stupid to insert mindless ads in between this piece of great music.
You´ll have the alternative to change to youtube "PREMIUM" (via GOOGLE) to avoid that!
One more rigged competition results in the making, this LIU is, was, and remains the outstanding musician
Liu gra z czułością nawiązując do naszej noblistki Olgi Tokarczuk dlatego kocham jego grę
❤❤❤❤❤
Это... ОХТЕЛЬНО!
Vous étiez bien jeune mais vous jouez si bien, un ravissement. Bonne chance!
Who are orchestra and conductor?
❤️🎶🎹👏
What 2 and not 5 ? It's my favourite.
Will you forget the other four piano concertos by the composer? Would be crazy...!
Mozart n’est pas loin 😉
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇦🇷,30/10/2024

Was wäre Deutschland ohne ihren Klugscheißer?😁
Not Beethoven's best is still good enough. Mozart wrote a ton of concertos and most of them aren't even as interesting as this one.
His playing from earlier years sounds empty tbh
Even now for example his rachmaninoff its missing depth.. or the hunt sonata
