    Glad to see you have a 2017, with over 2,000 miles, I have a 2016 z06 with 17,000 miles, have to get my money's worth. Great video used this to try it for myself.

      Thanks for the comment. Got some more that I'm working on but waiting for a 3-axis gimbal that will smooth out the videos.

    Old video. Still relevant. I just bought a 2018 ZO6 with 11,000 miles on it. Spin city from a dig. This is very helpful. Now if it would hook from a roll too. Sucker spins the tires at 60MPH!

    Really good job of going through the settings with a great explanation. Many thanks!!!

    Thanks for keeping it simple. Sometimes the engineers writing the manual way over complicate things. -Eric

    Thank you very much for this video. My question. When launching the TC and Stabilitrac lights are on….. I have always been scared to leave them on/turned off. I assume this is how it is supposed to be?

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  Год назад

      That is correct. If you see those 2 lights you are good to go.

    Thank you for the videos. I am a new 2017 Grand Sport owner and want to get everything out of the car that I paid for. Keep filming, it is much appreciated. Also, a big shout out to your wife for filming outside. I would love to see an outside view from the side at about 300 yards into the launch.

      I get low 40's for mpg in the Civic, on regular gas. But it's boring as hell compared to the 650 ponies.

    So which one is the fastes way to launch? Sport 2 or Race?

      And thanks for your service. It's more fun than you can imagine. But I think the cars will be a little bit different.

      @CombatVet65 4 года назад +1

      Why wait for retirement? I bought my first C4 Corvette when I was 26 and an E-5 in the Navy. Now I'm retired and have a C7 GS. You can get a nice C5 or even C6 right now pretty inexpensively.

    Great video Robert!! I've had my C7 to the track a few times but never messed with the launch control, since I was unsure how to do it. Your video made it crystal clear. A follow up I would like to see is launch control used in the different modes in a timed environment to see if it matters which mode you're in. Is race mode quicker than the other modes in the quarter. Thanks

      @RobertMacCready  3 года назад

      Thanks for the kind words Stephen. I'm presently working on a PTM video with the C8. Should work with the C7 too. Tommy Milner does a PTM demo video that I will link with my video. Very interesting outcome.

    Thank you I've had my car for a year and I can't understand the freaking engineers. I thought I was doing it right just didn't have the brake set hard enough or gas to the floor. I just old schooled it and always would spin unless my tires were close to liquid. Lol👍👍

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  7 лет назад

      I think seeing this stuff visually and not in a manual makes it easier to understand. I can't tell you how many times I've had to read parts of the owner's manual to totally understand what they are writing about.

    Hey Robert, Thank you very much for this video teaching us about the different drive modes in the Z06. Just an advice, we would really appreciate if you can get a steadicam for next time or something to avoid the camera movement. But in general excellent video, and once again thank you for take your time to share with us your experiences.

      Thanks for the note Carlos. Excellent idea. I'm actually looking for a 3-axis gimbal. Had one on my DJI drone and it was great. Reading reviews but have not decided on which one yet. Want one for the gopro. If you have any suggestions, let me know which one you like.

    I did this yesterday. Only one I timed was 4.1. I watched some other videos and their car had tire spin. I didn't notice any with mine. Didn't see any with yours either.

    It would have been more useful if you did the same tests with the 0-60 timer for comparison.

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  7 лет назад

      Yes and that will be in one of the next videos. I might add that it would be nice if several out there would do 0-60 times for comparison and post them up. It's still in the 80's here in FL so would like to see what others get for numbers.

    I'm kind of thinking all of your launches were in wet mode because you're not pushing the select button on the steering wheel to confirm wet, dry, Sport 1, sport 2, race.

  • @MoeMoe-uz8te

    Nice video so when I launch it I just press them both hard together and when I wana take off release my leg off the brake?

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  6 лет назад

      Yes, get into launch mode, jam the brake down hard with your left foot, then the gas to the floor, when you're ready to launch take your foot off the brake. Remember to get into launch mode first by pushing the button on the center console twice and then selecting which mode ( wet, dry, etc) you want to use.

      I'm having a problem with my 2018 auto z06. I know I'm doing everything right in terms of selecting the right modes and seeing the same lights lit up. When I hold the brake down really hard, I start pressing the gas and the rpms keep going up and won't settle at 2k. At 3k the car is literally jumping up and down! I don't know what's wrong!! I'm holding the brake super hard that it feels like my foot will go through the floorboard What could I be doing wrong?

    • @devingonzales626
      @devingonzales626 4 года назад

      My guess is that your not pushing the gas all the way down to the floor

    Thanks for the video. I have a stock 2015 C-7 Z51 that I have had to the track 13+ times and several auto Xs, 29,000+ miles. I do not use launch control, because it is very unnatural to me and I have not seen any data that shows it is faster. I use Track mode with a double push of the Traction control button for ALL performance driving. This gives me a very optimal launch with the rear tires clawing at the pavement and NO wheel spin. I like this better. because stomping the accelerator is way more natural for me than the launch control sequence, and it can be used anytime. Without any timing data to show the advantage of launch control, I will stay with what is more natural and consistent. Also I would suggest you never practice this without your seat belt fastened and a clear area ahead!!!

    I'm guessing you live next door to a golf course, given the large number of golf carts that keep zipping down the road in front of your house.

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  3 года назад +1

      Yes, actually on a golf course and most everyone here in this community own's a golf cart. We use it to go shopping, to the movies, and to the town squares for entertainment. So, lots of golf carts on the move here.

    • @RobertMacCready

      Actually have a hero 7 black coming tomorrow. Should help. And it can be a bit tricky doing the driving with 1 hand and holding the camera with the other. Can't wait to try the new 7. I could also bring up a different screen that will show the tach better.
