    I’m Australian and raising a profoundly autistic boy on my own, and sometimes I want to check out and quit. I’ve been a lifelong fan of tennis, and remember watching Rafa take on a Medvedev in the form of his career at the AO Final a few short years back. When I watched Rafa turn that match around in the third set, down two and a break, I prayed for his victory, and promised myself and God NEVER to give up, never to even think about it. That’s the inspiration this humble and amazing champion has bought into my life. Muchas Gracias Rafa ❤️

Good wishes to you, from a fellow Rafa fan in Europe.

I have been closely following Rafa's and Roger's careers and watched all their matches for the last 20 years.. I woke up during nights at GS played on other continents just to watch them play. I had nights of watching their matches and then going to work without sleeping, just with the energy they gave me with their performances. Just like I felt when Roger retired, the day when Rafa will too, it will feel like a door will be closing forever on a part of my life, as a tennis fan. Roger and Rafa's rivalry, respect, conduct and their incredible level on the tour has been a big part of why tennis is so popular now. • @gelvisblue
      @gelvisblue Месяц назад +27

      @@yussepig6629Nonsense, his stats don't match up to Novak's overall.
      Rafa is the GOAT on Clay only. Novak is multi surface GOAT and has the most key GOAT records.
      Djokovic has been ranked No. 1 for a record total of 423 weeks (over double Rafa's total) in a record 13 different years, and finished as the year-end No. 1 a record eight times. Djokovic has won a record 24 Grand Slam men's singles titles, including a record ten Australian Open titles. Overall, he has won 98 singles titles, including a record 71 Big Titles: 24 majors, a record 40 Masters, and a record seven ATP Finals. Djokovic is the only man in tennis history to be the reigning champion of all four majors at once across three different surfaces. In singles, he is the only man to achieve a triple Career Grand Slam, and the only player to complete a career Golden Masters, a feat he has achieved twice. He has played more matches vs top 10 players, than anyone else in the history of men's tennis & has the most wins vs top 10 players and best win percentage ratio vs top 10 players in the history of men's tennis.
      Novak has the record Indian Wells titles (nicknamed the 5th slam), and the record Sunshine Double titles.
      Rafa has been present for 95%+ of Novak's career and is only 11 months older than Novak. Novak was prevented from playing in 4 slams and a number of other tournaments, where he was favourite to win most of them, due to the COVID situation (which is different to missing tournaments due to injury).

    First time I saw Nadal play was in 2004 against Roddick in the Davis Cup, and he immediately caught my eye: the energy, the passion, and his unique style of play made him such a pleasure to watch. His rivalry with Federer up to 2010 was one of the most exciting matchups in any sports. And just when we thought it could not get any better, he squared off with Djokovic for the next 12 years, going head to head pushing tennis up to levels that was out of this world, and such an immense joy to watch.
    Sadly, his career was (too) frequently interrupted by injuries, but boy did he show tenacity and determination to come back time and time again, until now the sands of time have finally caught up with him. Still, to achieve getting back to competitive tour level of tennis after 1.5 absence at this age is simply incredible in itself and a testimony to the will-power, endurance and spirit this man possesses, and with which he has captivated and inspired millions of fans around the world, staying humble and down-to-earth all this while, and showing respect to everyone.
    Because of this, he is by far my most loved, most watched and most adored sportman of all times, nobody can come close to what he has meant to me, and to millions of others.
    Thank you Rafa for being Rafa and for showing the world not only your fantastic tennis but also you are quite simply an amazing human being. We will miss you, tennis will miss you but you live on in our memories.

    Simply the greatest ever on clay. No one can contest that. We may never see another player like Rafa on clay. Ever. Just thinking about his achievements is mind blowing. How on earth did he win 14 grand slams on clay, and still remained human. Unbelievable. Look, one day all sportsmen will give in to age and nagging injuries. If not for these Rafa had the skills to win these clay court tournaments for ever. Amongst the contemporary players I see no one with sufficient skills to beat Rafa in his twenties on clay. None. There are good players but not good enough to prevail over Rafa. It’s like he was born on clay. He will always be the reference point for achievers on clay going forward. Here’s wishing him a wonderful life, post retirement. May he find something worthy to occupy him and to keep him happy in his remaining years on earth.
    Just to add, in my opinion Rafa has the most effective and dangerous forehand in the history of tennis.
