A few minutes in that was the first thing I wanted to say. The man has never stopped growing, in anything. 20 years ago I could only get the gist of what he was saying.
Unbelievable. Such great rivals, but they still seem genuinely comfortable with each other. Although if the interview had gone for 5 more minutes, Roger would have completely pushed Rafa off the bench! 😅. So, good to see you both!

Rafa was always my favorite tennis player. A news person asked him once, when did you know that you were something special? Rafa replied, I am not something special, I am a person just like you. What an amazing statement. And in a world where tennis players get mad, break their rackets, slap at balls and swear at people - you do not see that Rafa. He is the epitome of what every athlete should aspire to be both personally and professionally.

The love and warmth these two gentlemen have for each other is very palpable to me. And they share a quality of humbleness that I don’t see a lot in their generation of tennis players. These two men are my favorite players because they are not just great tennis players who’ve achieved the pinnacle of their game, but because they don’t see tennis as the end all and be all.
Absolute joy to watch these two as rivals on court, absolute joy to watch these two as friends off court. The two goats of the game.

The greatest rivalry in history of any sports. They taught us how you can be great rivals in the professional life and at the same time be very good friends in the personal life. There is a reason why fans of both love both the players.

To be fair they didn’t just become friends at the end of their careers, they were friends for a lot of the time they were both playing.
True, but Rafa once said it was very gradual for the both of them. When Federer was still playing towards the end, you could see a real swift (I remember crying in 2017 AO as a Rafa fan but now i can see how they were getting truly close).
Love these two and they will be dearly missed on court. ❤❤❤

Regardless of stats, they stand alone as the only men players to transcend the sport globally. No other player in history, past or active, comes close. @@Jonathan-mp3ju thats a western media point of view. Tennis isnt just for the elites from USA, France and GB. On the other side of the iron curtain, Novak is seen as an Icon, a man of the people. Look at his longevity at n°1, that's an great example of comitment (sacrifice, nutrition, meditation...) t's just my side of the story. We probably both right.

I like Rafa to give tribute to Carlos Moya, who was such a great player of this game. Respect, attitudes, friendship, Roger and Rafa got everything.
In the early days of his career, Rafa could harly speak English, but now his English is excellent. When this era is finally over, these guys will be missed so much on the tour (Roger already is), Novak also.
