There's no doubt this take is neater and better performed than the first, but i can't help but find the other version more authentic and more gut-wrenching. the fact that you struggled to keep the high notes before transcripted well the pain the person is supposed to feel in the song. HOLY JUPITER THE VISUALS!! Her voice has improved so much, but also, the art!! I especially love when her persona sits down with the box cutter as if threatening us, or something unseen to us. The face is for the most part blank, but with a hint of anger which is exactly the tone the song has. The editing makes the video quite fun to watch as well. At 1:12 the face of anger is magnificent as well. It doesn’t look blank, but it doesn’t look completely full. It looks like it’s saying “I’m sick of this” with the emotion building up.
Another thing to add on, when they all come together with the more blank-faced one, I LOVE how one’s holding the hand, with the boxcutter either encouraging or discouraging something. I know you weren’t the biggest fan of your original cover, but back in late middle school early high school your cover was my favorite song. Period. It kinda feels like it’s been with me forever at this point. I remember downloading the MP3 and having to do backflips to get it on my iPhone so I could sing along in my car when I learned to drive. It was the definitive version of the song in my mind I guess lol. Sry for being cheesy but I’m about to start my senior year of college, and idk it just really makes me happy to see you cover it a again and be happy with it. HOLY JUPITER THE VISUALS!! Her voice has improved so much, but also, the art!! I especially love when her persona sits down with the box cutter as if threatening us, or something unseen to us. The face is for the most part blank, but with a hint of anger which is exactly the tone the song has. The editing makes the video quite fun to watch as well. Whoever did the visuals deserve a raise istg
At 1:12 the face of anger is magnificent as well. It doesn’t look blank, but it doesn’t look completely full. It looks like it’s saying “I’m sick of this” with the emotion building up.
Another thing to add on, when they all come together with the more blank-faced one, I LOVE how one’s holding the hand, with the boxcutter either encouraging or discouraging something. The other one looks like it’s whispering into their ear, and IDKIDK LIKE IT’S NEAT AND IT COMES TOGETHER REALLY NICLEY

I know you weren’t the biggest fan of your original cover, but back in late middle school early high school your cover was my favorite song. Period. It kinda feels like it’s been with me forever at this point. I remember downloading the MP3 and having to do backflips to get it on my iPhone so I could sing along in my car when I learned to drive. Her first take on this song was pretty good, but this remake is absolutely breathtaking. I love the improvements in the vocals. I hope she does do more remakes of previous covers.

I did a whole project on this song when I was suicidal because of school. Our English teacher had us pick a song and explain how the lyrics "spoke" to us.
