I love this store. I picked up a white Saturn in the "junk" bin a few months ago for 200yen, all it needed was a tray adjustment, there was a loose wire and of course it needed some cleaning. It even had a phantom modchip installed!
Dreamcast along with the Saturn is my most favourite Sega game console. I grew up playing games such as Shenmue, Sonic Adventure, ChuChu Rocket, Crazy Taxi, Snow Surfers etc.
Jim! Great content as always, you are one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Never miss any of your videos! Thanks! The Dreamcast is the greatest example of a "hidden gem" console: small catalog with excellent games, very arcade and really enjoyable 22 years later
I know right? Had the English version of JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE borrowed off a friend I gave it back cause of the censorship when I found out the JP version was the better version now I see the PAL version going for loads. Kind of regret it.
I miss the good old days of Sega. I have all their old arcade games on a hard drive and never realized how many games they made. They should remake that stuff for consoles. I bet it would sell a bunch of copies.
I remember when I was stationed in Japan in the late 90's and my buddy sold me his Dreamcast for $100 with Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure. Man I had so much fun with that console, especially after I picked up MvC2, DOA, and Shenmue. Wish I would have picked up more games when I lived there.
In 2019 I spent a whole afternoon entering every videogames shop in Akihabara, including the Super Potato where I was for the second time. This is the kind of shop which is more expensive than most other shops around Japan but allows you to find almost everything in one place. It is a shop aimed at us foreign tourists rather than the Japanese people who know where to find better deals (Book Offs, secret shops in lesser known cities, etc.).
damn i wish i was out there. i got back a couple online from a Hong kong connect for great low prices fresh n new but id love to be able to just pick through there with a basket in my arm picking those out like im grocery shopping lol
Man, I spent many hours on my Dreamcast between 2001 and 2003, played and replayed both Shenmues and RE CVX many times. Good times for sure, then I sold it for like 50 USD back in the day.
Another great video.love the dreamcast.been slowly getting into japanese games.this will help give me a better feel for the games and prices.thanks for sharing
I still collect for my Japanese Dreamcast, and I am focusing on fighting games. I probably have like 12 fighting games left for my collection, but the prices online are too ridiculous. And the prices in the store you filmed, seem more accesible. One day, I’ll travel to Japan and buy these.
is there a reason to own a dreamcast if i already have a PS2, ps vita, wii, switch, 3ds...? are there enough unique games to justify getting one? all i can think of is Shenmue but that was remade right..? so...
It looks like the prices for games in that store have really shot up since I was there around 6 years ago. I remember getting dreamcast games for anywhere from ¥150 - ¥1000.
Ohhhh now I'm going to try to locate Under Defeat for PS3. Looks awesome. I believe EGG is an rpg and one I've always meant to play. I never really got into the Dreamcast even though I was definitely at the right age. I was busy working too much, doing naughty things with substances that shouldn't be discussed here, drinking beer and playing guitar. My few favorite DC games are Sonic Adventure, Phantasy Star Online, House of the Dead, the Giga Wings and Bangai-O. I never got to play any rpgs or Shenmue (besides Phantasy Star Online) and have always wanted to, so it is a goal of mine now. Awesome shop and great video, man... Kinda making me want to go back to collecting a bit of DC.
I would've got some of those games when I was in Japan back in 2019. Too bad for me it would've been a pain to go through customs and I would have no idea how those games will work on an American DC. I mainly bought a few Famicom and PC Engine titles. After that, I went to Trader. Super Potato is definitely a great store in Japan. I don't see how that place is supposedly pricey which everyone is complaining about. Eventually, whenever the beer bug passes through, I will revisit Japan again.
I agree, the stages in MvC are awesome, love the 2-D visuals, but the stages in MvC2 are kind of lame and the 3-D backgrounds don't look nearly as good, and yeah the soundtracks aren't even comparable.
@@MadPanicGaming agreed. The first 3 are like a jim lee comic crossed with heyx3! Music champ. Mvc2 is like a jazz tech demo with a great roster and nice pencil sketches. That's still great but not as good as its predecessors if you're into the audio visual experience. Thanks for your vids. I Still play cutie Suzuki!

Ahhh!! Love it!!!
One day I'd love to come to Japan and walk through these stores. Tokyo is my dream vacation
Seeing all of those games is pretty awesome, although there's a lot of them that I've never heard of before.
Sega Dreamcast?! I love it!
Dreamcast has a special place in my heart. It’s one of my favorite systems (in my top 3), even though I don’t own many games for it.
It's one of my all-time favorites as well, so many great arcade ports, so many Sega classics and Capcom heavy hitters, it's a beautiful thing.
Same, the magic of Soul Calibur and Shenmue alone. But for me adding Soul Reaver and RECV. And of course KoF Dreammatch and CvS2
Yeah I was playing some project justice last night. It is such a fun fighter .
It is the OG. PS1000 will never be able to touch the Dreamcast.
I still play mine now and then. Good stuff. PSO series, any fighter arcade game SF,SC, etc, sonic, only had a few rpgs which were hard to find.
All the game stores in Japan are way bigger than the game stores in USA I'm jelly 😁
I love my Dreamcast, always have, always will.
I love fighting games and shooters.
As do I.
I see new KidShoryuken video, I click, I watch, I have a good time, I miss Japan even though I've never even been. It just be like that.

Pal versions of Dreamcast games are really expensive so I now either get Japan or USA versions. Been to Super Potato twice, love this place.

The world is boring without a new Sega console.
Agreed! We need a new one!
You are the master of these videos Jim

Alright! Great to see a Dreamcast version being shown on your gaming hunt videos Jim. Such an underrated unit by Sega for sure. 8^)
Anthony..
Almost had a heart attack seeing so many dreamcast games again. Wish the gamestops were filled with em.
Love the onslaught of new content! Keep up with the great work :)
my favorite section of super potato
Thanks for Dreamcast tour! Japanese adds made me happy :-)

I'm drooling here.
Love me some Dreamcast!
Nice to see some Dreamcast, even though I don't collect for it :)
Never too late to start, lol. It's one of my all-time favorite consoles.
@@MadPanicGaming I know it is, but with fc, sfc, ps2 and eventuele gc in my list I am not sure if adding something new note would be that wise. Haha

definitely a lot of great DC stuff! I honestly had no idea the JP version of SC5 had that sweet foil cover, that's so cool!
Another great video.love the dreamcast.been slowly getting into japanese games.this will help give me a better feel for the games and prices.thanks for sharing
I'm definitely in the 'collect what's good' camp. I actually have the Sakura Taisen Collector box with the 4 games, never letting go of that one!

That's usually how it goes, there's a huge difference between the prices online versus brick and mortar.
@@MadPanicGaming Not to mention the stupidity of eBay prices in the US.
The Dreamcast was amazing and I have great memories. Too bad there is only ~650 games on it, and many many visual games unfortunately.
Cool

i grew up with PlayStation 2 but i always wanted to play Dreamcast games back then. Good thing Dreamcast emulators are very good
It looks like the prices for games in that store have really shot up since I was there around 6 years ago.
I remember getting dreamcast games for anywhere from ¥150 - ¥1000.
I made a research about how many visual novels are on the dreamcast and 1/6 of the dreamcast library are VNs
Heh. I must’ve bought five Dreamcasts the last five years and five to seven copies of certain games I love like MvC2.
My DC collection is constantly growing and shrinking.

My favorite console of all time
Check out EGG, it’s a solid 2D overhead adventure game.
Came across EGG ntsc about a year ago for about $75 in a local shop. Didn't know what it was so I didn't buy it. Wish I would've now.
That game is hard if you want to get this really good item you have to battle this person a load of times
They really stocked up. In 2012 till 2017 it was almost empty. I would go to traders or other stores.
Egg is a hidden gem
So I'm told.
Dreamcast! 💕
1:22 The best Dreamcast game
Love the Shenmue music.

Oh my god! Heaven!
I'd totally have bought that love Hina game, even though I can't understand Japanese.....
If from UK 🇬🇧, if you importing from one from Japan, do not forget to add 20% vat duty. Sadly gift 🎁 aid no longer available.
Paraiso
Do they sell game guides?
Never own dream cast console, own ps1 when I was 7 yrs old
32€ for sfa3 👍👍👍
I don't like Re2 on Dc that d pad is so loose so you always walk the wrong way. Cube is the best and accurate.
I like the GC version too, but when I'm playing the DC version I don't really use the d-pad for anything, I use the stick for movement.
Macena x is ace
The aesthetic of mvc2 is nowhere near as good as mvc.
I agree, the stages in MvC are awesome, love the 2-D visuals, but the stages in MvC2 are kind of lame and the 3-D backgrounds don't look nearly as good, and yeah the soundtracks aren't even comparable.
