I liked so much of this discussion but am wondering about Dr. Gans’s objection to using the word “loudness” as a perception. As I’ve been reading and you’ve probably mentioned, there is no objective “loudness;” however, I do need to adjust the volume on my phone while listening to masking sounds through my earbuds, depending on how “loudly” I perceive my tinnitus. Therefore, it seems to me to be a valid term.
