Here's my cover of Two Way Mirror by Loathe from their second album 'I Let It In And It Took Everything' I messed a few parts in the recording as I record all the audio first and then add the video afterwards (easier than stomping around on all the pedals during the video)
This song is really fun to play! So if you're wondering on how to play it I hope this cover helps you - although I don't think what I'm playing is 100% accurate.
Recorded through my Kemper with Avenue Tones Kemper pack into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with Logic Pro X using my Bass VI

Hey man really love the cover. For anyone learning the song though definitely slide up to the octave halfway through the main lead line, definitely gives you that ambient dissonance the track gives off

I basically did for that reason 😂 but I also agree with loathe that 7 strings just don’t feel right for me, before I bought a 7 I used to play a baritone, so the bass vi just feels right! Also thanks man, the Kemper and precision drive is the dream 🤙🏻
@@TimmySheehyVisuals Yeah 7s and 8s are too unwieldy for me. I have to ask though, is there a difference between a baritone and the bass vi? Like, scale length or string gauge or something? Loved the cover of Faces in the Dark too btw, favourite heavier song on that album ;-)
Jbag-87 both scale lengths are 30” although having never played the baritone I can’t say if it feels different! But this is stock from the shop and I love it, I think it would be good to hunt down a baritone and just do a review of both as this seems the be the big question! But I’d go and try a bass vi through a guitar amp and see for yourself man, may surprise yourself!

There were no tutorials for this song so what I did was I pause the video and then copied the chords and the riffs and it helped

I am trying to tune it to E A E A D F# but the strings feel really really tight and it's pretty hard to tune it any higher. Is that okay or am i an octave too high or something? Don't wanna break my new guitar lol.

Standard for the bass VI, octave lower for the normal standard guitar!

Thank you! Yes it is the bass vi squier! It was a bit strange when I got it out of the box, but now it’s just like playing a normal guitar 😂 it feels more like a guitar to me than a bass! But the name doesn’t lie!

I play on a standard guitar what would be the proper tuning for it because I can’t seam to get it right at all and the chords don’t sound even close to what the song sounds like at all when I play it

Hey man great cover! I really don’t get the tuning tho, did you tune up to EAEADF# since the Bass VI is an octave below a standard guitar or did you tune down to EAEADF?
So the two lowest notes stay the same, the rest is tuned up from (EA)DGBE to (EA)EADF# feels a bit weird to start off, but the bass VI can handle it!

@@Nullsaque yeah should be fine, I use 20 - 90 you can get a Ernie ball pack just like it
@@TimmySheehyVisuals alright, I ask because I was worried about them snapping, the tension feels pretty tight so I wanted to make sure. I actually put the strings on to tune down to Drop c#1, but it can go back up to E1 standard.

Standard Ernie ball bass VI set, I believe it's 20w - 90
That little riff part in the intro is played too low (it sounds like octaves in the recording) and doesn't really match what you're playing in the video.
Hey I was wondering what kind of effects you used for the verse tone, I cant get that bassy reverb sound.
Johnny Swallows hey man, it’s a Marshall with reverb and neck pickups only! Hope that helps, all the sounds came from Kemper profiles!

It’s not! So it’s an odd one, E A E A D F# it’s a bit weird at first but eventually you get used to it! Because of the 30inch scale everything is an octave below standard guitars!

Did you have any issues with this guitar out of the box? I heard the bridge isnt too great
Devin Mayfield it’s been good for me, I tuned it to EAEADF# straight away and stretched the strings in, then out some foam behind the bridge to stop ring out, has been fine since then!
How do you get the tab to come up on your phone I downloaded the file?
You need guitar pro! If not, download the ultimate guitar app and that should let you preview it!
Hey man do these take regular strings like will they reach the tuning pegs?
Same scale length as the baritone they made! So baritone strings will for sure! As for normal strings I’m not too sure I’m afraid!
