    Fantastic video. While I'm not experiencing any trigger issues with my 814E, knowing this video exists and how to treat the issue if encountered in future is much appreciated. :)

      That's great to hear! I couldn't find any information about fixing this problem anywhere. In fact, a couple of people just say it cant be fixed. So once I figured it out I felt it had to be posted for others.

    Man you have such a good voice over/story telling voice. Reminds me a lot of 21 days under the sky with Robert Patrick narrating. Looks like ill be tearing apart my 814 too!

      Thanks!! I can't stand my voice but I've had a few people say similar things and I even do some voice over work here and there. I don't get it! If you don't already have all the tools, look into a kit from Amazon. The ones that are 120 tools in one kit (usually fairly cheap) often contain what you need and will save you a LOT of time!

      Sorry, I don't know much about it but the first thing I would check is the 2 batteries that power that part. They are on the side of the camera underneath the W and T zoom buttons.

    What adhesive did you use to stick the rubber back down to the camera body?

    • @ScottFromCanada
      @ScottFromCanada  11 месяцев назад

      It was a long time ago, I don't remember. I wouldn't use superglue though. There is probably a standard type of adhesive used for this, something that doesn't become too permanent.

    Hi Scott, thanks a lot for the helpful video!
    At 4:19 you place a white plastic ring onto the eyepiece shutter... That is exactly the white ring I had left over after reassembling the camera, but it doesn't seem to fit there. Do you remember where it goes?

    • @ScottFromCanada
      @ScottFromCanada  2 года назад

      No idea! I checked the original video and although I set it in that spot, it did not fit on that slider. I can't find any video showing where it eventually ended up. If everything works, don't worry about it. Just keep it handy in case something seems wrong later.

      I would say change the batteries again just to be sure. And clean the battery terminals. Make sure the contacts are actually touching the ends of the batteries. After that I'm not sure. I only fixed one problem in my camera and haven't learned too much else about how it works.

    Hey man I cannot get these damn snake eye screws off with tweezers or anything. I’ve done it before on other cameras. Any advice?

    • @ScottFromCanada
      @ScottFromCanada  3 года назад

      Nope! That was the only way I could do it. It took a while to get them loose though so maybe just try a little each day until they come loose. Other than that, all you can do is try to find the right tool. I don't think I tried looking for one though. I know I tried to make one but it just wasn't strong enough. Good luck!

  • @kirkbillingsley5345
    @kirkbillingsley5345 5 лет назад

    This can also be the magnetic shutter release failure which happens to the 814aze and 1014aze . And due to a switch contacts that when used for years can separate further away from the current contact. Both repairs will need to be performed by someone like myself or other super 8 repair folks. The Canon supers and any super 8 that went to electronic models all suffer this issue in their late life cycle. I just got in two Minolta xl610's and the same thing...magnetic shutter release switch failure. Many will toss them but even if there is not a donor camera, the 814ZAE and 1014 AZE cams can be fixed to use by bypassing the switch all together. One thing about a Canon 814 Auto is that you never have to wory about this and that the manual exposure override will never fail.
