- The Toronto Maple Leafs got a couple of players locked up to deals ahead of free agency but there is still work to be done. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti get you set up for the start of the free agent frenzy by looking at what they got done with Max Domi getting a new deal that should satisfy both parties. They also discuss Chris Tanev's pending situation and why getting Timothy Liljegren's new deal done was crucial too. They also discuss the discourse around the proposed idea of signing Tanev for six years and Nick Robertson reportedly asking for a trade and if the Leafs could get anything tangible in return. Domi signing is a gem and it’s good they didn’t overpay. I really like how GM handled this and didn’t give in on Bert for more money.
Domi signing means a lot to me as a lifelong Leafs fan 💙
It's an amazing signing. I love the fact father and son live and breathe this team.
Robertson may work if they give him more ice time. He had decent numbers. Could be another Hyman type of thing if they ignore potential talent. Give it a try and increase his ice time plus he is young.

Anyone can call me stupid, but with Robertson, why not give Seattle a call. They have a pretty good centre that they drafted that looks like he needs a change of scenery, im talking about Shane Wright.

LOVE that Domi deal. TL’s deal is retaining the asset and I feel is an insurance policy incase they strike out on a bigger fish. I still expect him to be traded.
Tanev will sign but with that said I feel they need to bring in another top four defenceman with Tanevs injury history.
I also expect the Leafs to sign David Perron to replace Tyler Bertuzzi and I hope they can repair the relationship with Nick Robertson because he’s a skilled forward with speed and the Leafs need speed.
Maybe a block buster trade could happen, Mitch Marner and Nick Robertson trade to a team that Toronto can get some really good players just a thought 🤔
It would be really foolish to even talk to samko for ditching them last time. He used the leafs last time to get paid in Tampa. Now he is trying to do the same again. Leafs have to have respect and not let star players push them around and use them. This is an original 6 team and have to stand for some respect. Pass on stamer just for team respect. Great player but team image comes first.

Robertson's problem was not the cap. It was his inability to play in his own end without the puck. If he was defensively responsible he would have had several seasons as a full time NHL player under his belt.
Robertson will do good on a rebuilding team. He will struggle on a contender. Give him ice time and if he can stay healthy then he will pot 20 goals and 20-30 assists
They will need Robertson as a cheap player to help fill roster with way the leafs get screwed on the higher priced players
They better sign a goalie and another d-man because all they be left with is 1 million guys to fill roster
Lilly makes no sense. Thinking sign and trade. Him and Kampf and Robertson to Seattle or Utah.
As someone who has suffered a chronic back injury, No..the Leafs should not go down that road, definitely not.
I hear you guys talking about 1million dollars players to fill roster and nothing about Marner, what’s up. Does no talk state they are going to run it back again. If this shit happens I hope the fans do what everybody said they would do and shut off watching these guys. It has been far too long since we have had good playoff hockey in this town.
Keep all the high priced player with no heart and let the lower priced players that you need with heart go, great management, not.
So with 5-6 million dollars left,need goalie, d-man and oh another top forward to replace Bert, and more forwards. I am sure that the monkeys on the leaf management can put together a Stanley Cup contender. Make sure you pay all the top players every thing they want so they don’t cry ,and don’t trade anyone and if you make the playoffs then you can be golfing after the first round.
Huge mistake to move on from Robertson…. He”ll score 25 next year easily if he plays
