Toronto Maple Leafs busy to start free agency with Tanev, Ekman-Larsson Stolarz & Hakanpää signings

- The Toronto Maple Leafs got some important work done early in free agency as the blue line became a big priority for Brad Treliving. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti look at why the Chris Tanev signing was worth the price the team paid, especially the immediate value he provides to the areas the Leafs need to bolster. They move on to the Oliver Ekman-Larsson signing, looking at what role they expect him to play, whether it was the right price to pay for him, and they also look at the new hulking addition to the backend in Jani Hakanpää and address the injury concern with the signing. To end the show, Mike and Dave look at the Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz deals, why the team went this route with the goaltending and the upside to their approach.

If WOLL and Murray were a tag team in the WWE they would be called L T I R , It is not a question of IF Woll gets hurt but WHEN will Woll get hurt . The Leafs could have just put a cardboard cut out in nets and saved on cap space and if the core 4 has a problem with it tell them this is what u get when u value milking the team for every penny you can get over winning .
Love Tanev as a player. Really happy to see him become a Leaf. The $27 million contract is excessive do to his age. If Tanev only plays 3 more tears, that equates to $9 million per year of contribution !
Tre went after for position of needs.
Each player helps their position but differently. This is where I think they really looked at the numbers of their stats. How consistent they are. Tre filled the holes with what we needed. Great moves by Tre and Co.
That Hakenpaa I think will be an intriguing player. Plus. I love the name lol.
Murray I’m not really complaining about. He’s 3rd. But he may be up to play a couple games. Who know. May be plays good enough to garner some attention for a vet goalie who won’t mind playing a backup roll.
We lose Bert. And we got beat out on Perron :(.
I said before yesterday. This will be the summer Tre can finally put his fingerprints on this team. He certainly did. On paper. Tuesday nacl end will be hard to play against. Let’s home it all works out. I see his plan now.

I'm not sold on these new additions. You got to remember all 4 of these new players are past their prime but Leaf fans remember them by who they were and not by who they are now.
Oel and tanev looked really good this past playoffs but yeah agreed still

@@thedreamends8035 these contracts are not going to age well. Might get a decent year or two from them and I totally understand its because of this 4 year window the Leafs are in. They are all in at this point but it could get ugly fast.

Love what they have done so far. Scoring depth will still need work. Need that player that will stand in front of the opposition net.
