    Thank you for this guide. I’ve taken some notes from you and two other RUclipsrs on this stuff. Ive played Reinhardt for years and never had a problem until now. It could be because OW2 works a tiny bit different and I haven’t played in a while. I definitely noticed a quick difference in how I perform when I used your tips. I’ve been getting better outcomes.

    Hey Kajor your videos are amazing and you always be bringing the some of best educational content in the platform. I think a cool video idea, if you haven’t done this before, would be “what you should be thinking about during a game” or something similar. I always feel like I don’t know what exactly to think about mid game. Should I really be tracking ultimates or is that not worth my attention at my level? Etc etc.
    stuff like that would be interesting

    Since watching this guide my Reinhardt skills have been so much better after a little practice. I’m now holding my own even in horrible matchups like Mauga (released after this video) and DVA. The only thing that has kept my win percentage down is a couple of bad decisions often toward the end of games, or just 1 in 10 games where I get absolutely rolled

    Okay, I watch watched the 7+ hour guide on all the heroes and the Reinhardt guides are the ones I pay alot of attention to since that's my main tank. It's so easy to get tunnel vision with Rein that I've gotten DETLSTROYED for trying to pin someone only to land behind the enemy team and get hit. As for the team fights, I'm always worried that my shield can't block the damage coming in to keep my team alive, and I play defensively. I guess it's an ebb and flow style that I should do, get aggressive and keep the enemy on their toes and back off when things aren't looking too good. In all honesty, I just want to be a better tank.
    Thanks Kajor for your hard work. I really appreciate it

    • @goo3154
      @goo3154 Год назад

      tracking cooldowns helps. that's pretty much what determines ebb and flow. did their moira just use fade as their bastion's turret form is ending? if yes: go in. this applies to your team's cds also. did your genji just use dash and deflect at the beginning of the fight and your ana used nade to bail them out? maybe wait a second before going in. most heroes have a cd that they rely on to survive/escape, like tracer's recall or reaper's wraith. when they use that cd, they instantly become vulnerable/punishable.
      if you're very new to the game, i'd recommend taking a little time to learn how all the heroes work. but only a little, cause you'll learn most of that through just playing.

      @@goo3154 Thank you for the advice, I do need to keep more of an eye on what abilities are used and how to best position myself.
      To answer your statement on whether or not I'm new, I've had the game since season 1 of OW1. I used to play it often with friends and we generally and fun. But as time went on, we just stopped playing because it got stale. When OW2 came around, it brought back my desire to play. Hell the highest rank I ever got was silver back in the day. So, I wanted to know more and see where I can improve. I've made alot of idiotic mistakes, gotten too aggro and got my team killed, played too defensive and got beaten, everything. But despite all that...I just wanna be a better player.

    • @goo3154
      @goo3154 Год назад

      @@MrTaikobo the beauty of playing the game to learn/improve is that there will always be more stuff to learn and improve on. that mindset also helps me maintain confidence when i make braindead plays in ranked games lol. it's not feeding, it's a learning opportunity.
      anyways good luck in your games!

      I'm a diamond Rein main and the only map I play defensively is Route 66 Defense. People go dive on attack 99% of the time, so I just sit on the gas station with my team and punish divers/flankers and become an impenetrable fortress. Other than that, best way to reduce the amount of damage coming at your team is to kill the enemies with big scary hammer man

    I have a question regarding dorado 1st point attack against a bastion, ram, Bap, Mercy comp poking from highground. Should I try to clear the highground with lucio speed boost, and try to kill them essentially. Or should I try to push payload while avoiding the spam as best as I can? I feel like the first option is better even tho I have no cover once im IN with my lucio, because I have an actual impact on the outcome of the fight. When I just push payload I can't contribute anything to the fight

    I'm surprised you didn't say "Don't fire strike when an enemy is in range of your hammer swings." but instead encouraged them to @4:53. A bit of a mislead, What situations are you looking to actually use fire strikes up close for that more dmg? Got an in game example? When it's more practical to use fire strike when the enemy gets out of your range of hammer swings.

    • @Kajor1
      @Kajor1  Год назад +4

      I have NEVER heard the advice from any coach to 'Don't fire strike when an enemy is in range of your hammer swings' because if you're firestriking in close range, it's likely to deal more damage in a shorter period of time and to do that simple combo everyone has known since 2016
      If you are smacking Rein V Rein, if you're trying to catch or duel a soldier who may just be running away, then that faster DPS will be more valuable.
      Obviously don't be actively firestriking in close range when you can't even cancel the animation or cleave enemies as easily unlike your hammer swing, but almost every Reinhardt swings + firestrikes in close range just to deal more damage unless they're smacking 3 enemies at once that all aren't clumped up together. Would definitely not call it a mislead

    1:00 IIRC The extra range is actually when you turn the opposite direction of your swing; what’s happening here is that you started far enough in that opposite direction, got the ranged hit, and then swung your camera the other way to sync with the graphic. You can see this in slow motion.
    8:00 when you pin cancel off a cliff make sure to angle your hammer to your right so the knockback is actually pushing them off instead of just bringing them more to the side. Hammer knockback always goes to your left on the first swing so you need to angle it properly to push them outward (sucking them in is also an option by reversing this ;). You may need to walk left from the cliff to not overshoot them, and facing the front is an option if you pin them off a 45 degree angle / or similar, so just be mindful of that.
    Extra notes:
    *You can weave and slide around corners and obstacles to go really deep with charge; think of it like DBD hillbilly weaving through trees and shit by moving away from them for just long enough to slide and avoid collision, then immediately moving back and steering deep past it. Pure 45 degree angles and circular collision are great at this. You know the sightline straight from kings row 1st point to the hotel with the big health kit? Stuff like that is perfect and lets you go insanely deep without hitting collision, for sneaky pins and/or shatters. I mainly use this for rollouts but sometimes it’s a bad habit that leaves me way past the entire enemy team :D
    *Prime up swings before you peak and jump shield back immediately after seeing the enemy (assuming they are close enough to swing on). If they play too close to a corner this lets you get swings very safely, though still try to avoid it when you don’t have armor and don’t be too predictable.
    *Angling your camera 45 degrees to the right of an enemy (so like getting the extra range for left swing according to me) will expose less of your hitbox to them. He’s basically a clockwise rotated rectangle, and doing this shows the entire small side of that to an enemy. It doesn’t work while swinging unless you block cancel (just tap shield) because he rotates the top half of his body with the hammer, but canceling the first swing lets you repeatedly get the extra range on that side anyway so it’s basically just a passive damage reduction buff (though of note that you will push enemies away from you and lower your hammers active frames by doing this so keep it as a defensive maneuver). It works the same way backwards as well, and facing left does the vice-versa and exposes the whole long side. Strafing diagonally can help because it’s the left-right strafing equivalent there.
    “I walk like this normally because holding straight forward on my controller is broken :D”
    *Make sure to strafe (as in move, NOT turn) in the opposite direction of your hammer swings when in close range because it will displace the enemy more relative to you. You push em left and move right. Angling hard left on the first swing (and vice-versa on the second) to suck them in and move past them (maybe repeating with shield taps to circle them like a dark souls boss fight) is also an option.
    *Bait out zarya bubbles, deflect, and power block by throwing a fire strike at the floor in front of them. Don’t throw it above them because they can follow it and jump, or ignore it. This also allows you to hit teammates that happen to be in front of them, without feeding their charge. You don’t have to telegraph it for this to work but it can help if they are too slow or close to react (in which case simply tossing them out probably works but be careful because they can still snatch fire that is passing through them).
    *If you get caught in graviton and didn’t jump in midair beforehand I believe you can shatter to fall out and hold jump to carry more distance. I heard something about bhop shatter being removed but idk if that is confirmed??
    *Hold jump during pin cancel to carry more distance. The extra momentum actually lets you jump over lips rein normally can’t go over. I’ll link an example.
    *Shield canceling swing startup can bait shatter; when done repeatedly it can condition the enemy to not punish a swing. Great in duels where both have shatter.
    And uh, yeah that is everything else I can add right now about Rein specifically. I’m not a top rein at all (peak is only Diamond 5 so far) so correct me if any of this info is incorrect or misleading, but it’s what I’ve learned from research and (mostly) applied to my games. And I’m sorry if I repeated anything too.
