💑 About Hercules Candy
Hercules Candy has been on Steve’s side of the family since 1910(ish). When he took over in the 70’s, he anticipated after 10 years of hard work, he could move the business out of the basement and into a real storefront. Unfortunately, it took until 2018 for that to happen, but hey at least it happened! Steve and Terry own the shop, Craig (the social media manager) is their son, Cara (wrapper and shipper extraordinaire who is poised to take over the shop one day) is their daughter and Leah (who doesn’t love being on camera and is very elusive) is their oldest daughter. Karen has been working for Hercules Candy since the twins (Craig and Cara) were about 6 months old and everybody else is a new recruit. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the 🔔 for more videos!

Holy cow… I had no idea this candy was so labor-intensive if done by hand. So much labor in just one box! I’m blown away.

I’m a professional chocolatier, and have spent the last 2 months cranking out the Christmas stuff, so I relate to this HARD. Spent all day today packing toffee, with my gram scale and my ribbon and all, but we were LOUD. Merry Christmas, fellow confectioners!

Thank you for sharing this in ASMR style. I'm not an ASMR fan, per se, but this is the kind of video I like to have playing in the background while I work...it's the right amount of background noise and when I look up from my work, it's nice and relaxing.
They need a shrink wrap machine holy cow! It would save time- those ribbon candy are so incredibly beautiful- what a treat for the lucky people who receive that treasure of a gift! So special!🌲

I had no idea this was made by hand. I buy a box every year because that's what my nanna did so I take comfort in the familiar. Not crazy about the taste but I still want it around for the holidays.

This is how it's made by hand anyway. Most places use something called a very aptly named ribbon candy machine

So much work put Into making the candy. I haven't seen ribbon candy Since I was a kid back 1950
so much childhood nostalgia thinking of my grandpa he always shared a box with me made me tear up a bit 😢. And damn i wish i could hire her to do my xmas wrapping lol amazing !

As a kid Dad brought this ribbon candy home every Christmas. We all loved it. Back then the ribbons were much thicker and you got more candy for your buck…..now a days the ribbon candy is absolutely paper thin and breaks so easy like a potato chip! We no longer buy it as it’s all broken into small thin pieces by the time you get it home.
Every bit of handmade ribbon candy that I have ever seen is paper-thin like Hercules! The thinker ribbon candies are usually machine made.

Her ribbon is symmetric and proportional. I think to lessen the chance of breakage in shipping, it is better to lay it flat up (like seen on the counter)rather than align it side ways with the curve up. The disadvantage with it facing up is that it is not getting a lot into the box.

Do you ever make a "master ribbon" so you can measure the wrapping ones to the same one so the length doesn't vary as much? If you change the master each time you'll get a larger range of sizes...
I should not have watched this, now I'm going to be stalking your website, lol. I took a look and there's a lot I want to try. If finances improve (trying to work out the finances between myself and a mom who broke her foot just a few days before New Years and currently can't work), I'd like to treat myself and her to something. The clusters and the various types of bark look amazing 😋

Ribbon candy is one my favorite childhood memories. It was so delicate the flavors were amazing. Bought some a few years ago and it was awful. It was thick and tasteless. Wish y'all shipped it but I understand. ❤

I have a love-hate relationship with these candies. As a child, I would get cuts on my tongue. But I loved the candy.
This is my favorite favorite favorite candy. I can only find it around Christmas time and that makes me very sad.
