Lol it’s funny u posted this, I had the same Snugpak and I hated it like you, for me it seemed like it was a mushy sponge. No matter if u had it loaded or partially loaded, it never carried right, never comfortable, I used mine a hand full of times and finally said it’s got to go! I think to the way it was designed after u loaded it down, like you said it was to short, no matter how I adjusted everything and tightened everything it was like I said just a big wet heavy sponge on my back!
Looks like a duffel style back. Intentionally with a large circumference to hold a large volume of contents, but only comfortable if they are lightweight contents or carried for a short time.
Thank you for your opinion. I also have this bag and am considering selling it because of the waist belt placement. I think the idea of Endurance's waist belt is to sit right on your belly to engage your core muscles and that way to protect your spine. It wasn't designed for placing the weight on your hips. My problem with this bag is due to my height. I'm well over 6 feet tall and this waist belt sits way above my belly button. You have to be in a certain height category to be completely comfortable with this bag. If it wasn't for that, it would be totally awesome.
I've had this pack for 4+ years too Wooly and I couldn't agree more. Also on Snugpak in general - an exasperating line of products that come so close to being great but are nearly always let down by something fundamental. The problem is that certain 'brand ambassadors' on RUclips pretend that there are no issues, even though they know there are. Looking at my own vids where I'm wearing it, and looking at you giving us a twirl, I think part of the problem is that it just hangs low on your back, like some sort of skater kid rucksack. No amount of adjusting of load lifters and straps seems to sort it. Also, it is shoddily made on the lid - the elastic lip around the 'brain' comes away from the material before very long, and is very hard to sew back. I've persevered with mine but it finally fell to bits last week, and I've been thinking about doing an honest review too - then came across yours today. I've splashed out on a Karrimor Sabre 45, arriving any day. It's probably the pack I should have bought in the first place... anyway, thanks for being honest. Subbed! Cheers. Rich 👍
Spot on both of you, and I have (and generally like) several Snugpak items.......as far as rucksacks go nowadays, anything that wants to be taken seriously, MUST have at least, an adjustable back. I've been looking at this and it looks really tempting. I reckon it's the lack of a frame and the fact that it ends just around your tailbone, but is there anything else that *looks* as cool costs about as much? I would get Jääkäri M in a heartbeat, but the price looks to be about double for 10L less capacity.
@@RedBranchBushcraft I have two other packs that i currently use, Karrimor Predator 30, MOLLE all over the pack so easily expandable, I use as my commuter pack, need to change into work gear, lunch, drinks and occasionally a compact brew kit. Top zipped pocket perfect for commuting uses, headphones, hat etc. other bag is Fjallraven Singi Stubben (the built in seat bag) with extra side pouches, really like that bag but it’s not for long distances, a great Bushcraft bag or perhaps one night with minimal gear. EDIT Meant to say the Karrimor would of course make a reasonably priced bushcraft/survival bag. I believe it’s been used by the UK military but I’m always cautious of these claims.
Many military sacks usually sit on top of belt webbing of soldiers ,so that back length is usually short so it doesn't sit to high and get caught on under growth. The webbing belts acts as the hip belt. So if you don't use webbing belts and pouches they don't operate well. Wether thats my Kombat 50 ltr, Miltec 28L or even my old antique Swedish leather and canvas thing they work well with webbing. But after 40 years my Berghaus Crusader still works well with or with out my webbing but I hate it, Probably because some of the original stitching was poor originally. Don't know why I hate it LOL maybe I just want a new upgraded pack!
Looks like a great bag for me im only 5'4 your taller and it looks like it sits too low on your hips and lowon the back I get the problem were bags waist and shoulder fittings are too far apart or dont fit my fat neck ;))
the way I see it is that pulls back on your shoulders because it is too deep, so the center of mass is too far from your body, it will always feel like it is pulling down and backwards as if overbalancing you, in the video I can see it is pulling away from you even though it isn't heavily loaded. That's why well designed backpacking bags are tall and thin, to keep the center of mass close so the weight can sit on your hips instead of pulling back on your shoulders, I have had the same problem with cheap tactical packs
Hi Wooly, hope your well. I got one of those for a fiver at the boot sale down the road. I thought it’s pretty good…for a fiver, but I wouldn’t want to pay the original price of £85.00. It’s a ok bag, just don’t overload it. Ok for a summer tarp camp, but pretty small for the winter. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧⛺️
Find a solid rectangular board of lightweight stiff plastic. Place it in along the back of pack to stiffen the support along the top and bottom of the hips and shoulders. Try that and see if it improves your wearability and comfort while making use of it. I found it a very significant improvement. 👍
@@RedBranchBushcraft worked on mine for me . One of the videos from colecrafter and one from the pathfinder school suggested using a plastic trash can that fit inside the bucket bag style packs to firm up and add extra support to the pack . I didn't want to use a trashcan so i found a stiff sheet of plastic at home depot that with a little bit of trimming fit well when the pack was loaded . I've never needed anything larger than a 40 liter pack. I did revert back to my old medium Alice pack with external frame and have since gifted the pack to my nephew. He loves it . I'm old now and use my Alice for travel , some overnighters, and when I go on long weekends to the coast. I never really thought much of luggage or suitcases.

I can't wear a ruck sack with the hip belt supporting the weight, it has to be the shoulder straps for me, and the belt just stops it flapping around. It's way too uncomfortable fir me using the hip belt for support, that's why I snapped the sting

yes, get rid of it and get something thats adjustable, have a look at berghaus military range , ive a full rucksack playlist on here, might help

The Jakarri is a much better option, and expandable with pouches etc
I have the Savotta Jääkäri M and it’s a comfortable pack despite not having loads of padding. Plenty of accessories to expand the size.
