- DISCLAIMER: For full disclosure, I have paid for all my Total War: Warhammer 3 Content personally except for Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs and Shadows of Change due to formally being part of CA's Creator Program.
Recommended websites for purchase have been used multiple times by myself and others I know thus I consider them trustworthy but please ensure your region is correct before purchasing any keys. Steam specials happen regularaly so a popular choice is to simply wait for the next Black Friday, etc. I respect anyone's decision to buy/not buy aynthing and this guide is merely intended to present the content factually in the context of time/value against community reception with some of personal experience clearly stated. It's tough out there and gaming can be a great escape, but funds are tight at the moment so I hope this helps you choose the most appropriate TWWH content or whether to invest in other entertainment.
Thanks for a great 2023 and here's to a great 2024.
Appreciate the support and wish you all well.
Cheers champions,

Thanks for all the support and all the best in 2024. See you next year champions!
Hello friend! Just want to say how much I appreciated your content this year. I have nearly 1.5k hours across TWW2 and TWW3 but still have loads to learn. Your content and formation guides have helped take the plunge to playing on VH/VH and no longer using slow-mo/pause as a crutch. I really appreciate that you focus on a practical and realistic playing style and don't rely on bugging the AI, doomstacking, exploits, etc that are really common in TWW3 content. Cheers and looking forward to 2024 content!
Thanks mate, it's a pleasure to share and appreciate the viewership. I'm fairly sure there's more that I don't know than do know in these games too 😂
Still that's part of the fun and I'll never be short on content to make. Wish you well in 2024 and good luck in life and your campaigns!
I got WH2 on sale and your guides have helped me a lot. 2 just had all my favorite races in one pack, so I had to get it. I am just trying to beat the campaign on normal but it's a lot to master.
Awesome. The races you want are the ones you should get as you'll want to get better with them.
The best part about TWWH isn't about winning or being good, it's about the journey of picking up new knowledge. I have thousands of hours and I think it'd take me years to learn absolutely everything haha
My small piece of advice. They go on sale 4 times a year. I bought the game in 2017 and every single piece of DLC with thousands of hours and I’ve only played Empire, Bretonnia and High Elves. So don’t feel obligated to purchase every single DLC. Just take your time and play WH2+1 for races then get maybe 1-2 DLC that interests you.
This is great comment and something I wanted to make clear in this video - work out your preferred factions and build around that if you're new rather than just blindly buying content because the community likes it. Times are tough and I just want people to make the choices that are best for them.
Thank you, you are my hero, this video helped me save a huge amount of time when I started to figure out all this
Stoked it helped out. Discord is free if you want to ask anything. Everyone there is cool
Dude, this is a crucial public service. Appreciate this as much as your twenty perfect turns vids!!
Thanks for the kind words. All the best mate!
Been meaning to get into TWW for years and with the current Steam sale decided it was finally time. All I can say is CA should be paying you, this video is a godsend for working out what to buy starting out.
Great videos m8! Looking 4ward to your tips for upcoming empire rework.
Wow thanks mate, that's so generous. I'll make sure the content meets expectation. Best luck in 2024!
I have been playing since Warhammer 1, and now own all the DLC (even if I am not entirely satisfied with it, but the value equation still works out for the most part).
Now my most played factions in Immortal Empires are The Empire, Dwarfs, and High Elves. For the dwarfs and empire I generally only use the generic lords from the DLCs as their base game units and legendary lords are quite good. For the High Elves I use the DLC units extensively as they are standouts.
Other factions with which I have had enjoyable IE campaigns are Grand Cathay, Greenskins, Warriors of Chaos, and Chaos Dwarfs. Cathay I did my first campaign without their DLC to no ill effects (owning it the units are quite niche, the only interesting stuff is Yuan Bo's faction and the Celestial General). For Greenskins I focused on Orcs and didn't end up using any of the DLC units (The Warden and the Pauch supposedly fixes some of their problems, but were not major problems for me). Warriors of Chaos doesn't require much DLC as Warhammer 3 adds units and factions that weren't in Warhammer 1. The Champion of Chaos campaigns are however every interesting, and in my opinion fun. Chaos Dwarfs are great, but a bit overpriced. The price could easily be justified if they added a bit more content to the race pack.
I have played Kislev, Khorne, Nurgle, Vampire Counts, Skaven, Dark Elves and Wood Elf campaigns. The first two I only played in Realms of Chaos while the rest I have all started campaigns for. I do quite enjoy Wood Elves, but their campaigns are a bit slow (you also really don't need the DLC). The rest I have mostly just not gotten into. Nurgle is very different, and I do look forward to Thrones of Decay to deliver more to the race (The race also desperately needs more content about how to play the race as it is as mentioned very different). Skaven and Dark elves are both fun races.
Loved Tomb Kings in Warhammer 2, and Bretonnia in Warhammer 1. Presume they're still quite fun, I just haven't come around to playing. I also really need to play Lizardmen at some point, and Beastmen. Investing time into playing Norsca, or Ogres until they're given more content is unappealing even though I own them, although, maybe I will.
Edit: I usually play on Very Hard/Very Hard with AI Stat Modifiers turned off.
That all sounds fair and reasonable! I think ToD will do good things for Nurgle. A spicey take, but SoC is what turned me into a Tzeentch fan. The legendary heroes and Tzangors really brought the spice and intrigue the faction was lacking before this release and they're now my fav god to play. It's hard to believe I had little interest in covering them earlier (spoiler, next vid is Kyros).
Quality analysis, much appreciated. This video convinced me (especially with the sale right now) to buy items: WH3, Prophet and Warlock, and Warden and Paunch. Eager to try them out. Not going to buy any WH3 content until I see the majority of community give it positive reviews, because per the usual, CA sent out their products through the sludge pipe to get the money they don't deserve.
Unfortunately you need champions of chaos DLC to play monogod chaos or chaos undivided in WH3. The unit rosters of those factions is barebones without it.
Woo, ended the year by completing my first ever Warhammer campaign; Miao Ying on Legendary. I second it as a good faction for first time playthrough, they play very "traditional total war" without a whole lot of Warhammer specific things if you're coming here from historic Total War titles and feel overwhelmed by all the unique faction mechanics and new unit types. Her start position is also extremely good, mostly surrounded by other Cathayan factions that are friendly and easy to confederate and the Great Bastion is an endless source of easy XP and gold.
Hey congrats mate, just in time! Your writeup of Cathay is fairly on point. I think they do bring the best of historical into a WH3 campaign. See you in 2024!
I really appreciate this video as I am just getting into the game! Thank you! I really like your spreadsheet! I think having something like that might help me keep track of the DLC I want to prioritize and what I already have so I was wondering if perhaps you had a copy to share as to spare me from reinventing the wheel. Thanks again! 😄
No worries! Glad the spreadsheet helped!
Good thing about TW Warhammer games there is no need to buy any dlc to have fun. You take them later when you like game and want more.
I play Warhammer 2, it is great. On last sale I took two dlc's. Still not sure if gonna buy Warhammer 3 or it is better to take W1 first. There is just a lot of play time in all ;)
The paid dlc is only the tip of the iceberg. Once you get into the mod scene there are so many home brew factions and general life improvements that you can add on can make the game a magnum opus in Grand strategy.
The possibilities really are endless!
very nice guide, thank you! I will opt for the warhammer 1 and 2 route first since I already have 2. I will get the third when it is around 10$, I think combining 1 and 2 together will already be enough for the time being. Should I get the savage edition or dark gods edition for the 1? With sale its around same price for normal and special editions
Mortal Empires is still incredible - WH3 released too soon. It's now in a good spot but it took a long time to get there... honestly there's still a "magic" ME has that IE will hopefully get in the coming months.
I wish there was more info like this, people assume they're standalone titles when in reality they're all content packs accompanying the engine. I still don't quite understand the pricing model and thought process behind it barring making obscene amounts of money.
Waiting for various sales now after I learned that you need to buy the previous games and DLC for certain races. I got some Seraphon Minis and thought I could play the Lizard boys but yeah. Surprised about that way of getting the races but I just wait a bit to buy Total War 3 and so on.
Thanks for the video though and the excel sheet. Quite hard to understand what you get with each pack and that there are so many
A fair bit of thought went into the excel sheet. So stoked to see it got used lol
me clicking on this and watching it completely knowing damn well I already own every single DLC
For what it's worth, I appreciate it haha!
Just got into the game and this was very helpful, thanks man!
Hahaha crazy. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year mate!
This was a great dlc honest review many thanks!
No problem!
I just got the entire trilogy for $23. I'm new to this franchise and it definitely seemed worth it considering that WH3 itself was $23 on Steam.
There's hundreds of hours of content right there. If you have trouble finding your feet our Discord is free to anyone.
Grombrindal also is a pretty easy 1 man army to build. :D
Glorious!
Thank you for this video. Especially now when warhammer discount started on Steam :D
No worries. Ask any questions in our Discord if you'd like any clarity or recommendations from other people (and not just me!). Happy shopping!
I’m hoping at some point they release complete editions of these games, one could have the three base games and the other have everything just to simplify things
The fact I had to make a guide says all you need to know about how complex purchasing this game is 😂
When you say campaign, are you meaning like story, or like the immortal empries. I havent bought any of them, and im a huge Warhammer fan. I think I'd be more interested in the inmortal empire than story. So when you sau campaign you mean that each game or dlc you buy allows for more in the immortal empires or just single player story games. I never played any total wars, but i played lords of magic when i was a kid and loved it. Also a dwarf nerd in Warhammer.
Immortal Empires pretty much is the game. The "story" campaign is a 1 then done and the reception on it is quite split. Immortal Empires is endless hours and where it's at. WH3 + WH1 would give you Thorgrim, Thorek, Grombrindal and Ungrim. DLC for Belegar and another unannounced Dwarf Lord coming next month are additions to this. I'd wait to special, WH1 stuff goes very discounted.
@@ElvenPlotArmour okay! I've seen them on G2A for cheaper with steam codes might do that or wait. Thanks for your response.
I used to dislike playing Skaven and I didn't really 'get them'. Then I played Ikit Klaw. WARP MAGICKZ!!!!!
This is a common experience! Yes-yes!
hey mate. shout outs from Brisbane...
I'm thinking of buying WH3... wondering if it has a large player community?
also wondering if i should buy now or wait for sale?
Hey mate, the player community is decent and pretty good. Regarding the game, I'd honestly wait for a sale unless you really can't wait. Play though a bit of Ying and Karl. People tend to know fairly quickly if it's for them or not. If you do. I'd recommend choosing a race or going for a base game to get more factions if the price is good.I have free Discord full of good crew who share achievements and ask questions, you're always welcome.
what about someone who dosnt want to get into the figures but just wants to get INTO the story/lore....where do i start and where do i go
You can navigate your way around Immortal Empire without much background. Each lord has a lore writeup before selecting them. You have inspired me to do a Lore video overview as well. It's mostly a good vs evil high fantasy setting with different races mirroring real life inspirations (eg Empire is medieval Germany, Brettonia is France. Others mix traditional fantasy tropes with real history, eg) High Elves are Ancient Greek/Byzantine Roman cross traditional Tolkien Elves.
Hey I was wanting to get into these games and I wanted to know if I should wait for a sale and buy like all three or two if that’s possible becuse I really want to play as lizard men and I wanted to be nurgle fat guy just wondering what you think I should do 🙏
Tbh, the sales are always the best time to buy TW products and WH3 base game gives you Ku'gath and Epidemious (Nurgle) as well as some recommended learning campaigns which I'd probably recommend first (I have guides on them) to help learn the ropes. If you can't wait, then just buying WH3 would provide 10's of hours of content to learn the game as well as Nurgle campaigns then later purchase WH2 and get 3 Lizardmen lords in that purchase. Typically the base games of WH3, WH1 & WH2 (in that order) provide the best bang for buck. If you have any dramas the Discord is below. Happy hunting.
@@ElvenPlotArmour ok thanks a lot
This made me understand everything much better, thanks!
Feel free to ask anything in the discord if you want more opinions. Good luck!
Malakia, chaos dwarves, tomb kings, anr vamire coast. They're absolutely the best dlc in my opinion. Demons of chaos are pretty good, just not my fave. That empire in the new world dlc is way awesome too.
I think there's a lot in the race packs if you're a fan of said race.
Thank you for ur vid. Ive wanted to get into the game but I never knew what to buy as its expensive and I wasn't sure how the system worked. I didn't know the the WH 2 and WH 1 gives races and content so im very happy to buy WH2 with WH3 cause WH2 got the best races of all. Orcs for the win! XD
No problem!
In your opinion, what are some races that need reworks the most? Are there any unplayable races in WH3?
Vampire Counts are strong, but only because autoresolve and raise dead are OP and compound together while regen is also busted OP. If they fix any of those people will notice they've been left behind. They're still very fun and 'good' though, nothing is unplayable any more like Chaos was in WH2. I think Norsca, while not weak, have a lot of potential to lean more into the "hardy raider" arch type with their mechanics and feel more tribal. Tbh, I think there's bigger fish in the limited DLC's we might have left but the other one is the Lizardmen's Geo-Web (they are actually a very strong faction, underrated) but this thing needs an update.
@@ElvenPlotArmour hopefully we get tons more dlc like ToD. :) I think we will if it does well. Thanks for the response! Subbed
So...the trilogy for 20 bucks would be a really good start, right?
I'd say that's tonnes of hours per dollar haha
Can you make video about sieging, I struggle especially in early game
Hello! Super helpful video for someone just getting into the Warhammer world (being a fan of the Total War games). I have two questions I would appreciate if someone knows the answer to.
1. Would I be able to "connect" WH1 and WH3 if one is on Steam and the other on Epic Games?
2. When you are able to use the factions of the previous games/DLC, does it allow you to play all the content of the older games on the new one, e.g. The Empire campaigns on WH3?
Thank you!
1. Sadly, no. I don't believe there's a way of joining them. Though WH1 and it's expansions do go dirt cheap whenever there's a sale.
2. WH1's campaign literally is a small portion of the IE map, so is WH2 (but a bit bigger). Honestly, you wouldn't ever want to play anything but IE. It's the most engaging map with the most happening on it with endless possiblities. I don't even recommend the WH3 campaign. Immortal Empires is the game now and has limitless hours within!
@@ElvenPlotArmour I see, thank you! I probably will go ahead and get WH1 on Steam when it goes on sale, I've been having a blast with the game!
When do you think Warhammer 3 will be fixed?
Warhammer 1 & 2 were much better imo and I looked forward to every DLC, buying them instantly.
Yet, in Warhammer 3 it released as a broken unfinished game, I've not kept up with the DLC's - mainly because they haven't kept the game interesting or really kept many promises.
I still slightly have my fingers burnt and trust shattered when CA decided not to do a Collectors Edition when they had no excuse not to - they rode Epics Dong massively for money, then seemingly did nothing with that money to improve the game. We still don't have the Siege Gameplay promised from Warhammer 1's Cannon Trailer.
WH3 is now certainly a good experience. The game is well optimised in terms of load speed and performance and I see little to no instability (I don't run mods so keep that in mind - that said, this is one TW game that doesn't need mods and works well vanilla). The races are reasonably well balanced and combat is fun with the best battlefield battles have ever been. Sieges? Certainly better now than WH2 and gradual improvements have made them far more enjoyable, but it's still not perfect, though you can autoresolve them quite easily.... autoresolve annoys me more than most players in that it's grossly overpowered to the player (even on L/VH) and provides no incentive to fight manually. If they fixed this then I'd say WH2 has nothing over it except atmosphere which I believe WH3 is gradually achieving. All of this is because WH2 ME was a masterpiece in immersion and tense game play. Any other TW game would not have the uphill battle of approval WH3 has had, but that's not taking into account the rough launch and DLC pricing which have been largely addressed head on (thankfully).
The games are expensive but I recommend buying on a sale and you'll have countless hours of enjoyment. The WH3 factions are all excellent in design and gameplay to boot, but I recommend cashing in on the cheap earlier content first and fleshing out those old favs first.
Is there an updates version of the shown excel table?
Not at this time, but the Thrones of Decay covered Empire, Dwarfs and Nurgle. That's the only change
whens the first 10 campaign video coming out ??
One word : unlocker
You're right, but not everyone wants to risk installing third-party software on their PC and potentially lose a Steam account if Valve starts cracking down on DLC unlockers.
@@DJ-1Q84 the only way you can get busted really is by playing multiplayer.
Starting with the premise that English is not my first language and that I got distracted during the video, I would like to ask for help.
I wouod love to play Total war: Warhammer, and in these days the saga is on sale on Steam, I can't afford Warhammer 3 because my budget is 20 euros; so from what I understand is it better to start with Warhammer 1 and then move on to 2 and finally to 3?
Best plan is to buy WH3. Check out my Miao Ying (First Campaign Guide) as well as my battle guide (front page of my channel) and if you enjoy the game, get WH1 then WH2 if bang for your buck is the goal,
@@ElvenPlotArmour ok, thanks for the help
You can get the game for around 20 euros on other sites. Just make sure you get the game for your region and not a Steam account, but the actual game.
As an owner of WH3, if I buy the trilogy, can I give the extra copy of 3 to my friend or is it all one pack key?
I... don't know? Please let me know when you find out. Individually they are all separate keys, but the "collection" purchase probably ties them to the singular account. I'd love to be proven wrong!
@@ElvenPlotArmour Sadly it appears it is just one key for all three games. So I'll have to buy them separately in that case... Dang this game is expensive to get into!!
i remember a year and a half ago i got both warhammer 1 and 2 for free and only bought wh3 and it was less than half price the dlcs cost me more than the actual 3 games lmao
Oh how those good days passed us by without us noticing 😂
@@ElvenPlotArmourexactly and the days of mannfred von carstein are gone now 😢
so do i have to buy the older games for a race i want to play? why cant i just buy part 3 and the races and i want.
The table in the vid breaks out what you get. But if you purchase 1 lord from a DLC, you get the FLC lords available to them, still the base games are the best value.
Never played Total War before.
Is it a good option to start on the Warhammer part of the Total War Franchise?
happy christmas elven plot
And you too mate!
Do you need to get the previous dlcs, warhammer 1, and 2 to get everything or do you only need the dlcs from those previous games?
Mortal empires(warhammer 1+2) costs less than warhammer 3 as of now during sale. WOuld you still recommend warhammer 3 first?
I hopw they release an undead dlc for warhammer 3. Maybe nagash themed and add a vampire count, coats and tomb king ll
100% that's what they'll imho. Similar to Chaos at the end of WH2, they'll address all the undead in one major overhaul and not worry about increments unitl then.
@ElvenPlotArmour I just want more vampire coast it's such a fun faction and like 90% of the lore and units was made by CA. They absolutley nailed it
If i got WH 1 and 2 on epic games for free is it worth buying WH 3 there too if i wanna play it. I have heard that there are some problems with epic games regarding modding. What do u think?
I don't use mods in WH3 I don't feel like I'm missing out tbh. These games 'used' to need mods to function and there's certainly a lot of fun to be had.
Do you need mods now? Unless you're a die hard fan, I'd say the 'No". If you can get WH3 cheap and get all 3 games you have hundreds of hours in the Immortal Empires campaign. If you want to try it, play WH2 Mortal Empires first.
I don t know i like that art of game and it s sale warhammer 1 all dlc there. You will say that is bad? Or that i can go there and after i like to 3?
WH1 is REALLY dated and not a great TW game honestly. WH2 is absolutely the furthest back you should go. WH3 is the interface where yo play all the games now, but WH2's Mortal Empires can play the WH1 races if you own them too. Being honest, WH1 is clunky and unintuitive - I'd be dishonest if I said I think it'd win new fans over like the later titles would.
I recently discovered your Channel. You are doing great
Thanks for subbing! See you next year!
Thank you for the information but did have to slow the video down to understand you
Cheers for the feedback. I'll try to work on it :)
Disagree that WH3 base factions are playable without DLC. Nurgle is borderline unplayable without champions of chaos as their anti-large units are locked behind it.
wait so there are no units for large enemies?
I own Warhammer 1 and 2 through epic and I played 3 when I paid for the game pass, yet I didn't enjoy playing 1 and 2 but 3, should I still buy 3?
WH2's mortal empires is a good indicator if you'd like WH3. WH3 is worth it now if you enjoyed that for the Immortal Empires campaign.
i like rts, so which one should i get as a new player to the series who just wants big battles and details ? and which ones have multi player?
Get 2 and 3
Hurra. This is some important content.
I thought this'd take me an afternoon... 3 days later haha
@@ElvenPlotArmour If you're going to do something, might as well do it right.
What does the yellow numbers mean
Gotta catch em all 🤣
If i buy wh1 and wh2 on steam will my wh3 instantly unlock those races and content or do i have to do something?
You just need to have 3 installed, when u buy the other stuff on steam it unlocks when u restart the game
For 28euros there's a bundle in instant gaming for all of the 3 games
Does any one of you know what DLC i need to buy to unlock Nurgle?
Comes with WH3 base game. You get 2 lords. Tamukhan is a DLC lord that recently came out if you'd like another.
If I have warhammer 3 only and I want blood dlc, Can I buy dlc from previous warhammer? because it's cheeper
Great question - yes. You purchase for one game it is available for all :)
@@ElvenPlotArmour sega answer me
"if you do not own the previous titles, we would sugget to purchase the Blood DLC for Total War: Warhammer III only."
So sad bro
Your content is S-Tier all the time. Keep up the great work, wishing you the best of luck to grow your Channel to the level it deserves in 2024
Really appreciate that mate. Hope to live up to it 😅 Happy 2024. Cheers!
Guys help me, 1 thing I still don't get, or my English is too bad: Immortal Empires is NOT an DLC you can buy additional to the WH3 game ? Or is it ? I can't find is on the list in the video. :(.
And one last question. Probably you explained it in the video but : If I buy WH3 what is the place 1 and 2 for the most fun and enjoyable DLC's ?
Immortal Empires is FREE with WH3. You can play it with the races from WH3. All the other races appear too, but you must own WH1 to play the WH1 races in Immortal Empires. Get WH3 then WH1. WH1 has cheaper DLC, but the factions don't need DLC to be excellent whilst WH2 races tend to do better with DLC.
I only have two strong disagreements.
The first is I think newcomers should focus on DLC before getting games 1 and 2.
For example if you get the Warden and the Paunch gives you access to two factions with two legendary lords. It gives you a very strong taste of the faction and from there you can decide if you want more of them or not.
Second is that the Chorfs are not a good dlc faction, honestly when I first heard about them I thought they would be FLC like Bretonia since you could get away with most of the roster and mechanics being reskined.
But the overpriced DLC we got was pretty much what I expected. A bunch of reskins. I'm not too angry about there only being 2 LL keep in mind Woodelves and Beastmen all only launched with two with a third FLC Lord but it's a clear step back from the Vampire Coast and Tomb King Standards.
First up, thanks for your feedback and time you've taken to type it. There really isn't an easy way to break this game down for a new comer so it was a challenge to plot out. I did mention a few times the Big 5 DLC are a great way to delve into other game's factions, these are all decisions only the prospective buyer can answer. I just wanted to steer the player toward value for money without over committing. Probably could have made that more clear but the video already hit half an hour and was concerned about it rambling on or diving into depth that would confuse new comers. It's a difficult balance sometimes.
Regarding the Chorfs, there's solid ground to class them as overpriced, but I think they're more than deserving to be "valued" the same as Tomb Kings and VP given their economy and aesthetic was rather well polished. I do still think a third lord was needed tbh (which I did state).
I actually don't disagree with anything you've said, more just believe the degree is lesser in my own experience. Still, you're entitled to your opinion and thanks for taking the time to share it. Have a good new year mate!
Warhammer 1+2 regularly go on sale for a combined price of $36~ USD. WH3’s lowest sale price has been $30 USD. I think 8 races and something like 27 factions from WH1+2 vastly outweighs any benefits from playing WH3… except maybe that WH3 has the only (good) tutorial.
You can get the whole trilogy for less than that.
Dont make mistake like me I bought twwh3 for 20€ I could buy whole trilogy for 23€ and get bonus factions‼️‼️
Wow, yeah 3 quid is definitely worth that. Sorry you missed out. Feel free to ask in our discord if you want any purchase advise (it's free)
great vid
The big 5, that’s like the golden age for this franchise. I know I’m in the minority, but I really enjoy big roided up crocodile and his silly campaign.
But at the end, you’ve echoed what many, including me have said. The changing dlc is too high for the amount of content. I very much want it. But I’ve refused to buy it. Many other people said they’d refuse to as well, but I feel like they gave in.
Oh dear! Good job!
Thanks for watching!
So i need to purchase TW 1 and TW2 Dlc so i can use them on WH3?
That's pretty much it. The base games provide the most content. When sales happen it all gets cheap.
@@ElvenPlotArmour Got it. I just purchased wh3. Thanks for the video!
I disagree that belegar is easy now he's the only lord to give me and my 1k hours a hard time. I essentially can only do it by turning him into a horde army, bumrushing 8 peaks while leaving my old capital to the vampire coast and skaven to fight over. Maybe I just never learned how to play him but that +50% upkeep debuff is insanely difficult to deal with early game when dwarfs already have a weak early economy.
24:33 that sounds a bit rough.
I love strategie games. Never got around to play any total war games and this one peaks my interest. However! If I need an over 30 min break down of what DLC unlocks a game that in a total package costs me over 300€, or at least 150 just to experience an uncommong race 100%, then the game is just too greedy for me to enjoy. That is coming from a EU4 enjoyer...
Jumping in from scratch is just too demanding on my wallet, which is a shame, since I do see myself enjoying this game a lot! So unless the publisher comes up with a compact package or a subscribtion based system to break down the many paywalls, me and many other players will skip this game. Mainly due to it being a skeleton as a base game, compared to what it actually can be.
When you buy total war warhammer 3 dosent that unlock warhamer's 2 and Warhammer's 1 races and factions ?
You can play them all in 3 if you own 1 and 2. Try and pick em up at Christmas time, they might be on sale
If you're coming into the series and you want to play multiplayer, just know that the game is a 'soft' pay to win type of deal. It's not as bad as a game like Hearthstone where you're at a massive disadvantage against players who have heavily invested in card packs, but it's somewhere between that and fair play. The vanilla races are quite distinct and limited in their access to various effects like physical resist, magical attacks etc. but the more DLC you add, the more all the factions get special units (RoR) that get effects that maybe no other unit in you race's roster has access to. Therefore there is a big difference in the amount of factors a vanilla player has to take into account when building army compositions vs someone who has access to everything. Obviously if you are a singleplayer only player (which the vast majority of players are) then it doesn't matter at all.
Well said!
The base game is on sale. Should I buy it?
Hey. I saw we get only couple of lords? (I saw 2 maybe there are more). Nothing much so I guess it's better to pay for Nation DLC.
@@kacpermichalec9721 some reddit threads say we get Brittonia and 4 Lords. Not bad imo. I'm actually new to Warhammer and they say that 3 is the best place to start.
@@seyahtan24 I bought Warhammer 3 year ago but I was not satisfied with DLC prices. Today stared huge discount. I'm gonna buy probably most of them. Graphics and gameplay is 10/10. Finally human prices for DLC's. So I'm back in game 👏
@@seyahtan24 Okay I bought the best DLC to get the most. Many nations. You were right. Someday it will be important to buy WH1 to get a couple of interesting things. But now for the same money I can get 2 more nations.
WH3 is absolutely where you should start (unless you got WH2 for free). Watch my "First Campaign" video as Miao Ying or even my "WH2 Basics" video if you feel really lost. Ask any questions in our Discord if you'd like any clarity or recommendations from other people (and not just me!). Happy shopping!
atm i think the trilogy seems decent price in g2a
I'd have to look. I've gotten keys personally from G2A and they all worked.
I bought WH3, should I buy the Lizardman DLC in WH3 or I can obtain it from WH2 to play in WH3 Immortal Empire campaign?
Purchasing WH2 will give you Krocgar, Mazdamundi and Gorrok. The other 3 are part of small DLC packs. Recommend you start there.
@@ElvenPlotArmour Thank you, bought WH2!

They have to chill with the dlc’s and just put it in the base game or patch updates. It’s becoming like Sims 4.
^ This.
Did... Did you forget Imrik?
He's free with WH2 or any HE purchase :)
@@ElvenPlotArmour haha yea but you mentioned all the other free lords too like Thorek. I was just surprised your most favorite one got no mention 😉
Like I discoverd you because of your awesome guide for his campaign back in Wh2
100% don’t play skaven without rattling guns and jezzails. You’ll hate life 😂
Why do they make this so daunting to get in to lol
I just purchased Warhammer 3 im getting addicted again 😂
Finally, it's as good as WH2 was at its peak :)
Cool
3 first then treat the rest as dlc 👍 saying that you can get all 3 for 20 pound on cdkeys which is a fucking bargin 😊
Just buy them all. Also, all of Paradox games. I polished off my collections this Winter sales.
I think if I was new to the game this video would be pretty confusing.
The chart you keep referring to isn't really explained early in the video.
And then later when you go "looking over here we can see that the base games all offer about $4 a pop[...]" at around the 22:50 mark, talking about the chart, it takes a full minute before you actually start showing the chart instead of more trailer clips.
And all around instead of just looping the same trailer clips I figure it would have been more productive to show e.g. where factions start on the Immortal Empires map and say a picture of the steam page for each DLC, addressing specifically the major features. Mentioning things like the Wood Elves and Beastmen DLC having unique story campaigns (Season of Revelations, Eye for an Eye) *sounds* like good value, but is pretty useless because they're campaigns that exist only in WH1 and that haven't been updated at all.
You also seem to have completely skipped that Bretonnia is a free faction you get with WH1 and don't talk about them at all, nor Repanse free DLC for WH2. Really FLC stuff wasn't discussed at all, despite them being part of the value of buying the WH1/WH2 base games - Imrik, Repanse Alith Anar etc. are pretty great and arguably better than some of the core factions of their race.
Also got a chuckle out of the High Elves all being closed together - I don't think Imrik and Teclis got the memo in IE.
I was lucky that epic games gave wh1 and wh2 for free, I only bought wh3 because I felt like it deserved buy 1 for 3
WH2 is by far the best.
have you even tried wh3 n dlcs??
Creamapi
G2a is payed for piracy so just pirate or use an actual seller that supports the developer
The chart makes no sense and doesn't seem to be explained.
CDKeys is better than g2a 👍
only naive sheeps get milked
What do you recommend for a lost sheep looking to find the way
Buy base games and pirate the dlcs 😉
Interesting spin on a "buyer's guide" 😂
@@ElvenPlotArmour I’ll give CA my money for the three base games, but they’re not getting my money for dlcs while creamapi exists
just dont buy anything.
That's absolutely your right to do just that 😊 I'm not trying to shill or blacklist anything and respect everyone's stance and choices. I'm just doing my best to simplify the product line so a viewer can best deduce the value content will bring personally to them rather than a list of "what I like so that means it's good" which I don't think is really that helpful haha
… or it’s my money so I will do what the fuck I want with it.
