Tip for putting wood furniture together with screws. Run the screw across a bar of soap, this act as a lubricant and they should go in easier with a lot less pressure on the screwdriver. Amazing how chucks can populate an area so quickly. They are a favorite food of coyotes. When the old farm dog can catch them it is even easier for a full time predator.

Cliff, did you abandon situational awareness when you got out of the Army? Kaylee’s gonna have to raise her voice when she talks to you from now on! 🫡🇺🇸 Good shooting, perfect score on the four chucks.

Virginia? Nice shooting. Target rich environment. Did that for years in NJ & OH years ago. Really miss it!! No chucks here in coastal NC. Started out with a 17 HMR and worked up through the 204, 22-250 and 243. Enjoy.

Those were great shots, those buggers didn't even know what hit them. I love shooting 223 as it's cheap and plenty of ammo options, but my favorite hunting caliber for just about anything I can take in my state is the 243Win. I've shot one ground hog with it around 70 yards and that round exploded in him, opening him right up like a zipper. I will say though it sure lays the hammer down on coyotes at some long distances and I've had good luck taking deer with it as well.

In the army we were told when firing a high caliber weapon such as a .50 cal or, a .300, to open our mouth before squeezing the trigger to avoid possibility of an ear drum rupture from the air compression. It helps to equalize pressure between the inner and outer ear drum. I never questioned it and, have always done it even to this day when firing my .300 Win Mag or any of my high caliber weapons. M4’s AR’s and my 1911 & 9mm, I could go either way.
If you ever fire a rifle as a 50 cal with a muzzle brake you’ll understand why , very well ! The compression of the blast zone envelops the shooter and as such compressed the air around the shooter . There are 2 different issues here , #1 that the shooter in combat does NOT have ear protection on , in this case the mouth should be open to prevent the eardrum from being pushed inwards and hurting like H-E-Double toothpick . #2 If your wearing hearing protection then keep your mouth shut or the ear drum will be pushed outwards due to the compression of the air entering the mouth and that hurts worse than a closed mouth and no ear protection . The best solution is ear protection and mouth closed . Been there and done that many times .

Depending on the reticle in your scope, I'd practice on targets on the ranges you expect to shoot to establish your proper hold overs but also to build confidence in longer shots as you check the accuracy.
It'll mostly come down to skill and your level of self discipline, especially on trigger control.
I usually don't go past 200 using a 223 but I shoot coyotes mostly. The few times I have shot groundhogs, they were always within 100 yards and I was using a 62 grain sp, opened them right up.
