sorry to hear about this it sounds possibly oil ring related seeing that's its just on number 1 and 4, I hope you manage to get it all sorted and that you get the advice needed to fix it
Well I’m struggling with Stirlingkit it’s hard work talking to them, I have sent them this video a few times now as their technicians can’t understand English stirlingkit told me that 🤷♂️
Trying to talk to Stirlingkit is like trying to get blood out of a stone, they admitted to me there so called technicians can’t understand English 🤦♂️can you believe that 🤷♂️
I can believe it,,,I'm from Ireland,Every time I go into a shop or petrol station,,I can't understand a word any of them say,,why an employer in an English speaking country would employ a foreigner who hasn't a word of English is beyond me,,,But then we are the racists for not being able to understand there gibberish,,,,,,,,
Yes my friend you are totally 100% correct In Everything you have said no quality control whatsoever they just make as you say desktop toys and we get sucked in 😔
I would start by doing a simple compression test by only placing one spark plug on each cylinder one at a time and turning it manually, sure if the cylinder is leaking at this point the compression will be low, otherwise possibly the oil check ring is placed incorrectly or not doing the job properly. On my 4 cylinder cison engine I have a big loss of compression but to help the situation and prevent the crankcase from becoming pressurized I modified the crankcase oil cap so that I could connect a tube and connect it to an oil catch can
Oh something else, the buildup of oil you have to be careful with when trying to start, it can cause the one way barring to fail or lock up. I went through 3 already just trying to start it. Between each i disassembled it to check what the issue was and just had same issue of hydrolocking it without there being water if you know what i mean. I learned how to fix those barrings though because waiting a month to get new ones and at the price they charge is to much. I think they sell this thing to make money off the initial sale, and then more from the parts you have to buy, and they refuse to sell certain parts so you cant ever fully rebuild one without buying a whole one depending on the part.
Johnnyq90 has a recent video showing some changes he made to this engine. He replaced the O-rings (three per cylinder liner) with viton rings. He made new head gaskets from very thin (0.5 mm?) copper sheet and annealed the copper before installing them. He also modified the outline of the gasket so instead of oval holes for the pushrods, they are just half moons. This last change will for sure fix at least one problem you had where the pushrods were digging into the original gasket. Take a look at his video.
Engine DIY are sending me some new copper gaskets the green o rings were in the kit, I don’t believe it will be any good for my boat as it’s not a good design with the oil system as it is 😞thanks Steve
@@Blacklamass Yeah -- this engine is just for bench running. Another RUclipsr rigged it up to a dynamometer and pretty much destroyed the engine in the process.
If the engine tilts, less than 28ml of engine oil should be added, otherwise the crankshaft will come into contact with the oil, causing a large amount of lubricating oil to enter the cylinder. The oil ring is too small to handle excessive lubrication
The engine has its own oil pump so why would tilting the engine a few degrees cause it to fail, there was air bubbles in the oil going into the pump and no matter what I did it was the same air bubbles in the oil, only adding oil did I get rid of them, and now your saying use less oil it will only destroy the engine completely, Stirlingkit are not sympathetic whatsoever that I have paid £1400 for an engine that died on its second start up, in fact kind of been the exact opposite saying I got no patience and so on, wouldn’t you be upset 😠
glad to see im not the only one here having issues.. mine arrived with intake valves missig from both heads, grub screws missing from the block (allowing both oil and coolant to rapidly leak) and my CDI killed itself when i went to spark test it. i have had this engine for almost 3 weeks now and im only gettign sent the parts. i am possibly going to be refused a new cdi as well. it really seems their technical team is not very good with quality control... reguardless i am going to work through the issues and try to get the engine running. It sucks because it really seems like the engine is of a decent quality, i have no leaks from the gaskets what so ever. If worst comes to worst, i will not ship back my engine, i will make a dispute with my bank. this is BONKERS were pretty much paying 3/4 for shipping direct from china, so in turn we get a procuct thats worth nothing over $500. THIS IS 2 PEOPLE IN A ROW THEY SCREWED OVER. stirling kit needs some serious coaching or a serious lesson taught to them.
Yes my friend I have asked for a refund but no deal, they are getting fed up with me because I tell it like it is and how dare I complain about one of their engines 🤷♂️ even though it died on the second start up, I have had this all before on the terrible engine L400 with the breaking crankshafts that apparently did not exist🤦♂️ took me months to get them to admit there was a problem till I made a video condemning them and the engine. And by time you get the parts to try again, its out of warranty. The time it takes them to respond and send out anything it eats up the warranty so by time you even know what the problem is to a certainty, you cant do anything as far as refund. I doubt theyd honor a refund once its to the customer anyways, theyd just ghost.
@Blacklamass i will follow especially to assure whst your saying is backed because your 100% right. They are scamming people with the current products and lack of support and refusal to address issues they are aware of and refuse to fix.
Cison needs to fix all those problems and what seems strange to me is that the Cison L4-175 does not have those same problems. Apparently that realistic design is costing them many units.
You have to get used to the idea when working with these Chinese things that they will need further work from yourself. The Chinese at the moment seem to get things 97% right but it's that last 3% that gets the machine to run and be reliable. You have to do that 3%. I just bought a 6 cylinder that was pre assembled. After finding some loose bolts I decided to dismantle it and I'm glad I did. I found more loose bolts and some basic assembly mistakes. Really these engines are cheap for what they are and are assembled by young girls in a slave labour camp doing 16 hour shifts. Expect them to not be perfect. Look at them as a starting point not as a finished product. I drilled my engine block so the pump could supply oil to the main bearings. They need finishing work.
Yeah i have had every issue you are having except the blowing it up, i havent gotten mine to start yet. I borred out the rod holes already to give enough clearance, but in all suriousness, this is all things that should already be figured out BEFORE they even bring it to market. For the price we should have at least gotten a 24k gold key with it for the troubleshooting they know they are forcing their customers to do if we want a running motor. There should be no guess work but thats all the instruction manual is. Have you seen how many ? Marks are in that thing. Its a joke that i wish i was dreaming but so far, this has really turned out to be a very large scam that will prevent me from taking anything suriously coming out of that place. Youd think given they are the manufacturing hub in the globe basically, theyd be pretty good at it, but sadly quality control, and innovation are not something they are capable of. Precision engineering and machining is even greatly lacking. Everything i see being promoted from there now everyone should take with a chunk of salt and reduce the actuality of what you will in reality is only about 40 to 60% as good as whats advertised, and thats being generous.
you arent paying for quality. you are paying for a small team to spend a bit of time on cad, then a few CNC machines tooled up, material, and packaging, transport, advertising. like almost anything chinese, quickly thrown together with no actual engineering behind it. certain vital parts overlooked. corners cut. cheap, cheap, cheap. all that matters is that it "looks the part". a conley, if they still made small engines, would be about 5X the price. but they were also backed up by a few decades of engineering, development, and in-shop improvements before being released onto the public, in limited numbers. its a desk ornament, bling. it was never intended to be used "in anger".
Sorry for making so many comments, i wil leave it off with this. If and when i get my engine running i will let you know what happens and if any issues persist from there. it i a possibility you did install 2 and 8's oil rings the wrong way around but it is VERY hard to see which way there supposed to go, if it even matters at all. i will do that research and experimentation for you. i do ask how are you going about a refund? did you file a dispute with your bank or are you going to have them refund you themselvs? please let me know.

Seal problem with the valves or pushrods possibly?. . . For what you paid thats crap it blew up so quick!
Yes, the valves haven’t got seals and are quite lose in the bores
Did you mount the oil rings in the correct direction? It was very hard to see, but you have to be very conscious to put them in the right direction.
