DISCLAIMER/REPLY - I'm just reading these comments and i cant believe there is yet another argument on another hair video i've done but this time its about a trim. C'mon give me a break lol! This is an edited video that is less that 10 minutes of a 5+ hour day. I already trim my hair every 2 months and Believe it or not The Stylist TRIMMED OFF ALL the split ends in my hair. We cut off a lot of hair that you may not perceive by just watching this video. Never the less, thank you for your suggestions, tips and support.I honestly appreciate you all xx
+Dephne Madyara Don't worry Dephne any video on youtube that is popular there WILL be arguments. Just trust in God and take people's opinions/suggestions with a grain of salt. Everyone believes they're right in their own eyes. Do what is best for you. Regardless it came out beautiful and many people want what you have, but it is not easy. We are all learning and feel like we have earned our naturalologist degree via youtube lol. It is just the facts of life. Congrats on 150K views...it was at 4k last time I commented lol.
+dottiEpre thats right. you said it. Every popular video has a following of critics. Dont take it personal. Just keep in mind that every one has an opinon even assholes 😁.
You are a beautiful queen dont argue with fools. I understand that some ish that people say can get under you skin but nevermind them and their opinions. it takes a lot of time and energy to respond to negativity and at end of the day you are the one left feeling miserable or heated even just for that moment. Look you are beautiful, your hair is beautiful, keep doing your thang. If its not positive its not worth your time and energy.
Girl, do not listen to some of these haters, haters going to hate. Your hair is long, beautiful, and healthy. I wish I had your length... Dephne, I like give back positiveness back to others. I see you are a Christian, so am I. God bless you....
+dottiEpre "naturalologist degree via RUclips " 😂😂 you got it so right. Sometimes we just have to skip some comment(ers). But i understand it may be hard for Dephne, sharing her experience with us so kindly and then having to deal with that. We should keep her in our prayers
I wish people would stop telling her what she needs to do with HER hair. It's hers. It grows from her body. Not yours. She doesn't care about how her ends look when her hair is straight. It only matters how they look when her hair is curly again. Why chop off three inches just to have the perfect straight hair when this is only a once in a 5 year thing? Her split ends were cut despite what you actually think. You can look at the video but it doesn't show you the true health of her hair without you actually being in front of her. Her tips are thin but it doesn't mean it needs to be cut because its perfectly fine in its curly state. She's clearly maintaining normal growth and her hair looks good despite what you think of her tips. 4C hair needs toooooo much, too much moisture. No matter how much you put on it and how often, it is in constant need that can never be quenched. I think she's maintaining her demanding hair just fine.
Ugh all the people saying she needed more cut off need a lesson in hair growth. Her hair was fine after the trim, the reason you can see through it is because all the hairs on your head don't grow at the same time or rate which is why the ends are thinner and have a V shape. Not everyone likes the blunt cut, I know I don't, which is how you get rid of the thin ends or by getting a layered cut but not everyone likes that either. I bet a lot of ladies aren't reaching their length goals because they are cutting off way more hair than necessary. I saw in her latest video she got more cut but it really wasn't needed.
***** I was natural long before it was a "trend." As long as her hair is I don't think she is obsessed with length. And what in the world is cut at elevation?
That's true all hair doesn't grow evenly because of the 3 stages of hair growth the Catagen, Telogen , and Anagen phases so they can be uneven but they should not be see through . See through ends is a sign of splits and breakage and her ends could be splits that have literally broken off and one half of the frayed ends remain.
you are so beautiful!! and your hair!! It took my breath away! You just gave me courage to keep on in my natural hair journey! My goal is to have the length, thickness, and health like yours. it's gorgeous! So happy i found your channel ^_^ p.s. this video editing alone is ON POINT!!!
I love how everyone in the comments is now a professional on hair, but don't realize women went ages and ages with long healthy hair and not cutting the ends, for thousands of years. The whole "end cutting" has just come into play fairly recently. It's her hair and clearly she is doing something right if her hair is this long and shiny and thick. Worry about yourself
Actually, she's of mixed race. Her hair is naturally long. The stylist did the bare minimum trim...no cutting probably was not desired by Daphne, which is ok too.
This is what most people don't understand about our hair. It's not that we have shorter hair than other ethnicity's, it's just that we have extremely tight curly hairs which deceives you into thinking it's short. It should be common sense that anything that is in a curly state doesn't show you the true length of any item, be it hair or gift wrapping ribbons. But, i guess common sense isn't so common. Gorgeous hair.
+Brahmin meets Dooney and Bourke amend, i would say perceive! like my girl away said "if you looking for the right answers you gotta ask the right questions!"
+Brahmin meets Dooney and Bourke Deceive (Of a thing) means to give a mistaken impression so the use of the word is accurate. Her shrinkage gives people the mistaken impression that her hair is shorter than it it is in reality…The word deceive has about three proper definitions
In my honest, very humble, opinion I have to say that some naturals out there need to let loose and start enjoying their hair more often! Seriously. You baby it thinking that you wanna "protect it" and not cause any damaged, guess what? You can still use a reasonable amount of heat (regularly, yes, REGULARLY) and enjoy the magic of your hair - without it being "unhealthy"! Uuh naturals who go weeks without washing their heads, like what? Stop it! It's 2016 and you can have fun with your hair and still be safe!
You have this light about you, like this holiness, complete, loving vibe I love it. Like you can literally God and Jesus Christ flowing from your sling and your radiant smile so amazing. I've never seen that before
awwwh! SO beautiful your hair and your personality. Thanks for allowing us, your viewers, a to peak into your life, You're so such a blessing, just watching this made me happy :)
I feel like 2 more inches needed to be trimmed off just because the very bottom was very thin and brittle looking. your hair looks nice don't get me wrong but with bad ends, regardless of length, the hair will look bad
"Brittle and very thin" sounds so insulting. Her hair looked stunningly gorgeous! It's not just long but it's very healthy and she's done a great job taking care of it. She obviously knows what she's doing to have 4c hair that looks like that. I'm sure that wasn't her last trim.
+Nikki 7 it takes more than just growing your hair out for it to look healthy. that's not want healthy is. and in my opinion more did need to be trimmed off. if it stiff and stringy that means more needed to be trimmed. people don't want to do it because it means cutting more of their hair but if it has to be done it has to be done
I was so excited to watch this video and scared at the same time. I didn't want the stylist to go crazy with heat passes but she did an amazing job. I hope she knew beforehand to just do one pass and a light trim but if you had to tell her, I'm glad she listened. It turned out beautifully. If you're only flat ironing once a leap year I think your hair will be just fine. Congratulations on your engagement too!! 😀
I like that Dephne shows us the beauty in 4C hair. 4c is a cool texture to have! But for whatever reason ppl in the comment section CANNOT TAKE IT! y'all shouldn't be so bothered about her ends tho 😂😂😂
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! A display about the wonderful versatility of natural hair, With shrinkage or straightened! Short one day and long the next! It seems as if you can do anything! Love it, Dephne!
Wow, your hair looks amazing! Your hair journey has totally paid off and it is such an inspiration for us 4c hair ladies. She did an awesome job. You look beautiful with both natural and straight hair. Stay blessed!
Wow! You have a lot of hair. She did a great job. I just recently subscribed, so glad w have found someone with my hair texture. Your silk press is really pretty. TFS!
I would have loved to see another 2-3 inches cut off because the ends are quite damaged but overall ur hair is beautiful and healthy. The ends just need a little more work.
remind the before and after term and see how he hair was at her tailbone right above the crease in her outfit, after the "trim" (FYI)(that was a true textbook cut btw.)The Ends Were Hitting Just Above Her Hip Bone!)
Your hair is so beautiful omg!! Also girl your editing skills are ahhhmazing. This honestly is one the the best vlogs I've ever seen seriously 👸🏾💆🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Your hair is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS....I just love it and you've motivated me to keep this natural journey going....4C hair is hard to maintain but this makes it worth it!!!
+Adeola Adunni yeeey im so glad you are motivated to keep going! Don't give up our hair is amazing we just need to keep learning about it till we find what works for it and doesn't hurt to do a silk press here and there xxx Much love
+Dephne Madyara yes definitely. I love the learning process but it can be hard at times... I'm sure you know! I showed my hubby your video when he arrived from work and he says you have beautiful hair! thanks so much. God bless you.
I will be 3 years natural May 11th, 2016. I plan to get my hair flat ironed and trimmed June 4th. I am looking forward to seeing how much hair I was able to retain as well.
@Dephne Madyara it's looks beautiful & I know your hair is very fine texture, and no offense but it looks like she didn't trim off enough, because your end look really thin.......I mean maybe it's just me, but I would have opted to have a couple of more inches cut.
It looks so fine and fragile. The trim could use two more inches to fill in that thin space in the back. But once it is curled you cannot see it. It looks okay you got what you wanted. Although God already gave your hair life, you feel this gives it life.
Yeah. It was damaged. 😢 It was first damaged by the color now it will be moreso with the heat. I know its fun to straighten every now and then but you can lose ALL that hair. I would hate for that to happen to her after all her patience. 😢
+marie watson You're not lying about losing ALL your hair. My hair was past bra strap length when I bleached it twice. It looked great at first. But in addition to the bleaching, I was heat-styling AND my hair was relaxed. After a few months, I went from bra strap length to not even going past my neck. LITERALLY. That experience prompted me to go natural. I'm 5 months post relaxer now and my natural hair is sooooo much stronger, shinier, and healthier than my relaxed hair ever was! So in a way, I'm happy it happened because now I'm embracing my natural self....but sometimes I wonder how long my hair would be now if I didn't bleach it :-(
+Dantalian Gerhardtsreiter I hear you guys but hair is to be enjoyed for what it is. What's the point of having all that hair if you can't experiment with different styles and colours and so on. If it gets damaged (hopefully not) it will grow back. Afterall it's only hair. It's not that serious.
her hair didnt need to be trimmed more. hair grows in stages. Her ends look healthy. what you see as her ends are led hair. Led hair is hair that will make the appearance of thinner ends due to ghe stages of hair growth. her ends looked healthy after the trim
I clicked this so fast lol.. but it turned out beautiful. I'm guessing you were not prepared for a cut to get rid of all the thinner ends but the end result was still amazing.... goallsss P.s your body is turnt up
Wow, simply beautiful! I was so excited to see your hair straight. She did a awesome job. It's nice to see that she didn't cut a lot of your hair, just the split ends. I had my hair cut way beyond the split ends which is why I don't want to go to the salon. Wish I lived in your area. I would go to her.
I love your hair color I'm natural but I get my hair straightened every 2 weeks it blows my mind how you and other folks I know go so long without trims or a dusting I get my hair dusted or a mini trim every 6 weeks I don't think I could stop now its so ingrained in my mind and I truly feel it helps me maintain my ends but different strokes though tfs 😉
+Dephne Madyara omg after reading description ☺️ I see that now somehow I equated that with you straightening every 5 years thats when you trimmed although I do know people who go that long my apologies in my defense it is late and I should be sleep as opposed to being on youtube 😉
I only trim my hair twice a year lol and its really long. When you have natural hair and you moisturize your hair, don't use any heat for a while, wear protective styles, and deep condition weekly you can actually maintain your ends really well. It want need to be frequently clipped. That's at least how my hair works. I guess it could also be that I've been natural for almost five years and only flat ironed my hair four times. I usually wear braid outs and sometimes weave when I want a different look.
+Nikita Love tension can be used on a damp hair cut instead of flat ironing for a trim or a blowdry round brush and a dry cut with tension as well... i am sure that helped her hair grow much longer as some use too much heat and damage the strands i love that her stylist only made 1 pass it definitely ensured not too much heat was used
Patricia, I wear my hair natural, too and I follow your same routine. Overtime, I damaged my hair from blowing dry and flat ironing to the point I had to give my hair a break. My hair is naturally curly but for some odd reason I want straight hair. When I started wearing it naturally curly I begin to really embrace it. For special occasions I will wear it straight, but now I am addicted to my natural hair.
i can't believe how long your hair is straight compared to natural! both styles look beautiful on you, but i would give my left eye for your natural hair! Love it
Dephne your hair looks marvellous! Please post a "my hair reverted" (or not) video also. I'm curious about the aftermath of the silk press. I'd like to get my 4 years natural hair pressed too, and i think we have a similar texture, so it would be good to know what happened afterwards before I commit to the booking with Life. xx
Her ends are bothering me so much, like why do woman save ends! Ends are nothing but old dead hair...cut it you're not losing anything...your hair will thank you for that
+brebre22310 your ends are the oldest part of your hair...roots are new growth...just my opinion she could've clipped a little more but hey everyone's different and care for their hair differently
+brebre22310 Even if your hair is dead, holding on to split ends will cause it to split all the way up to your roots and stop growth and it can cause you to have to trim more. It can also break off easier and overall it just makes it look fuller and healthier
Girl I wanted her to trim more! If you can see through it then cut it your not losing length!! And it will grow back and act so much better in its natural state

+Vennesa lanuta thank you!! yes the shrinkage its really real lol!
+Dephne Madyara beautifullllll omg iam in love
Yes so real, I am amazed every time I see my own shrinkage
+jali27
I was just about to say the same thing, shrinkage is the death of me haha.
Wow, it's looks so pretty! She trimmed very modestly too, sometimes stylists like to "cut" instead of trim. Enjoyed watching:)
ProtectivePrincess she should've cut, the hair was still very scraggly at the ends
I wish people would stop telling her what she needs to do with HER hair. It's hers. It grows from her body. Not yours. She doesn't care about how her ends look when her hair is straight. Tell them again! Ugh! I found this video so relaxing. I'm natural as well, but I don't like to straighten my hair so I get my fix from RUclips
Mrs. J same. Living vicariously.lol cuz straightening my hair ends in disaster...4q hair 😂 with an unquenchable thirst
I respectfully disagree. Those ends needed to go
Kendreya Howell Why because it doesnt look perfect ? Its clearly not damage.
Soooo gorgeous. Your hair is a testimony. Wow.
Amen
Your hair looks amazing! And an abundance of claps to the stylist for only cutting what needed to be cut.
Ugh all the people saying she needed more cut off need a lesson in hair growth.
I disagree. Its clear that the hair was not properly cut. She needed a cut not a trim. The ends dont look good at all
Years with long damage hair you mean. Look up why it's good to trim.
Actually, she's of mixed race. Her hair is naturally long. The stylist did the bare minimum trim...no cutting probably was not desired by Daphne, which is ok too.
Kendreya Howell I see white and Asian women with long uneven hair. No need to be a perfectionist! Her hair looks amazing.
Alexandria Lyric Dephne is from Zimbabwe
her looks beautiful both naturally and straight. I love the diversity of our natural hair 😍😍😍
There's so much truth in this comment.
I was just thinking that. Yes, we want healthy hair but what's the point whether our hair is to our ears or to our ankles if it's always bunned up.
Why cant i not washing my hair in weeks?😂😂 thats what works for me and it smells like peppermint so🤷🏽♀️
OMG shrinkage be crazy. I wish I had shrinkage like that
No wonder you have long hair...you haven't been seeing any of those trifling hair dressers for 5 years!
+tigerstripes lol
lol true
😂😂😂😂😂
lmaooooo
I agree...

Daphne thanks for taking us along. I started watching you a year ago. Your hair looked beautiful they did a nice job on it.
I would have loved to see another 2-3 inches cut off because the ends are quite damaged but overall ur hair is beautiful and healthy. The ends just need a little more work.
+Alimah B There is nothing wrong with slow trims. She had about 2-3 inches cut. And she can have another 2-3 inches cut after her next trim.

+By Daph I obviously said in my opinion, her hair is gorgeous
I don't think she means any harm by this comment 😊❤️
yea she def should've trimmed more
True
This is just the cutest video. literally made me smile throughout! wow. you are blessed Daphne. lot of love and admiration. xx

Yes, proof that black girls CAN GROW hair that long. Reason why I know is because when I was a girl, my hair was long just like hers.
Your hair turned out AMAZING! Beautiful results and beautiful hair natural and silk pressed. 💙
the comments on this video thou! 😂😂😂😂😂😆😆😆😆😄😄😄😃😃👀👀👀👀👀😂😂 ppl calling folks bald headed and they've never met! 😂😂😂
Ikr... Pure entertainment. They comment section is sometimes better than the video.
Long hair makes some people lose their minds.
I'm so happy for you... that stylist did an AMAZING job!!!
You're stunning and so is your hair 👑
Wow that is UNREAL your hair is the stuff of dreams
That shrinkage is sooo real..ur hair is gorgeous though
This was so fascinating to watch! The beauty of black women hair. 😍😍
WOW!!! Amazing!!
Shrinkage is so real! This is so pretty!
@Dephne Madyara it's looks beautiful & I know your hair is very fine texture, and no offense but it looks like she didn't trim off enough, because your end look really thin.......I mean maybe it's just me, but I would have opted to have a couple of more inches cut.
Your hair is beautiful and healthy! Thanks for sharing...And yes, you definitely found your stylist!
+marie watson I am
your last part is so true. I was wondering too.
She did your hair so nice I'm soon to be 3 years natural in December but your hair ( waist length) is goals in currently mid back length .
she did a fab job!!! Beautiful

so pretty. shrinkage af! :)
Love it love it!!!! Go girl go!!!! That's hair is laid huntyyyyy yasss!!!!
What products did she use when blow drying and straightening your hair?
silk hence "Silk Press" .....:-!
+gleeta austin That doesn't explain the ACTUAL product...ya know...brand and vendor? Smh people always try to be shady for no reason
Silk press don't use no products
+jshaianne26 That's exactly what I was thinking... I wanted to know what brand she used Duhhh🙄
+BigMeech Ghandi Oh ok
She did an amazing job... Your hair always looks so GOOD!!!✨
The shrinkage is TOO real!
Oooh gurrl, that hair style is EVERYTHING!
her hair didnt need to be trimmed more. hair grows in stages. Her ends look healthy. what you see as her ends are led hair. Led hair is hair that will make the appearance of thinner ends due to ghe stages of hair growth. her ends looked healthy after the trim
i agree. people are just hating
I messed up letting someone trim my edges. I never should have done it.
ohh it makes sense because i wondered why it was so thin at the end
I know but we believe the lies about dead ends! just let grow!
+LovelyMonique5380 hair was never alive though. its keratin
Love love love your channel Dephne! You have truly been a blessing to me in my natural and spiritual journey.Ramba wakadaro!
I clicked this so fast lol.. but it turned out beautiful. I'm guessing you were not prepared for a cut to get rid of all the thinner ends but the end result was still amazing.... goallsss
P.s your body is turnt up
+Jenny Alexander aww thank you!! Yes indeed, the thinned ends needed to go for sure. Thank you so much for stopping by much love xx
+Nicki H Hun I trim my hair every two months ;-)
I waited my whole life for this moment you just had.
Finally someone with the same shrinkage as me!
+Lala J is ur hair 4c too?
heck yeah. same here haha
Same shrinkage too. 4c at its finest. Not the same length tho 😂😂 goals right there
i can't believe how long your hair is straight compared to natural! both styles look beautiful on you, but i would give my left eye for your natural hair! Love it
Can you do a revert video?
Now started following you because you are now my inspiration for me to continue to grow my hair.
i woulda trimmed just a little more and thennn PERFECT!..
same here. just so that there wouldn't be ANY see through ends. health over length! it's pretty, though.
The stylist did a remarkable job on your tresses...love you!
Let go of those ends girl
Dephne your hair looks marvellous! Please post a "my hair reverted" (or not) video also. I'm curious about the aftermath of the silk press. I'd like to get my 4 years natural hair pressed too, and i think we have a similar texture, so it would be good to know what happened afterwards before I commit to the booking with Life. xx
Her ends are bothering me so much, like why do woman save ends! Ends are nothing but old dead hair...cut it you're not losing anything...your hair will thank you for that
your hair from roots to tip is dead. plus it didn't really matter if her ends were like that, it was curled and styled not worn straight.
And it will grow back and act so much better in its natural state
I couldn't stop myself for commenting, you are simply gourgeous!
