As soon as he said the lyrics sounded like 8th Grader's diary I was done. Mike is one the best lyricist in the game. Wow this is the stupidest take I have ever heard in a long time
what’s funny is when you said they stick to a very grounded style, your tune will change haha I would love to hear your reactions on the 2 albums after this, cuz Meteora was the last album in this style, especially listen to their 4th album A Thousand Suns, please people, get this man to react to A Thousand Suns
To many (including me) A Thousand Suns is their best album. With that said they rarely miss. The first album with a song I wasn't fond of was The Hunting Party and even then most of those songs grew on me.
@@BrandonWestfallweirdly with it being such a rock oriented album, surprisingly The Hunting Party was the only album that took time to appreciate and like
He’s holding on to a bias that he’s identified with in his formative years and made it a part of his personality. You can really tell when he’s starting to like the sound and then he immediately has to remind himself that he can’t betray his “linkin park hater” persona. Let it go and enjoy the music, you’re gonna give yourself ulcers by holding on to your bitterness lmao
Mike Shinoda said in some interview a million years ago that when the band got signed, he simplified his writing style for mass appeal. Good example is In The End. The demo lyrics have shit like: They're dealing you in To determine your end And sending you back again To places you've been And bending your will Till it breaks you within Versus the album version: One thing I don't know why It doesn't even matter How hard you try So if it's any consolation, the simple aspects of the music and lyrics are mostly intentional, and not from a lack of talent. Whether you buy that, like that, or don't vibe with it, the information is now in the e-void, and my useless trivia spamming for the week is done.
I love Linkin Park, but no hate towards this video because I respect him for trying to get into it and I like hearing the perspective from someone who used to hate the band
Great video, I've also never been super into them but there are a few songs I really like. I was glad you liked "Nobody's Listening" I LOVE that song and I feel its super underrated. I think part of the thing with their music to me is even though I don't think its bad and super creative it wears me out to listen to, Like I can only handle so much of the vibe they give off at any given time. Nobody's Listening is the only song on this album that doesn't do that to me lol. I think Don't Stay might be second favorite.
If you apparently hate metalcore, there's a band called ERRA that you have to check out. It will blow your mind. Do either the Impulse or Augment album by them, I'm sure you'll get it. The songwriting is otherworldly clever. I'm 100% sure you can't hate it. Also a really good band to check out that influenced a lot of ERRA is Misery Signals, similar clever sound.
I was never a huge fan of the first two albums The album that really drew me in was minutes to midnight I can't tell you how many times I heard that album and I do love a thousand sons waiting for the end is probably their best song in their whole catalog fight me on this one. I really hope you keep going react minutes to midnight I think you'll change your mind
Please keep going with LP albums. I love the unique point of view you provide compared to people who are outright fans. You're pretty respectful even with shit you don't dig. But if you want more experimental stuff, they really do begin breaking the nu metal constraints with the next album, Minutes To Midnight. A lot of people fell off at this point, and say that Hybrid Theory and Meteora were the golden era for the band and their "true sound," but given your lukewarm reaction to the singles on the first two albums, I've got the theory that you may be like me, and appreciate the later material more than the old stuff. A lot of it is "softer," and that gets some fans frothing at the mouth, but the technical and production aspects of the instrumentals and everything just goes through the roof from here. Sorry for the novel, Devil's lettuce makes a man talkative. I've been watching this LP journey from the start. Keep being authentic, dude.
Bro! I really love linkin park, so I was like WHAT!!!? when you said some of these songs were great but you didn’t like them, at least I’m glad you likes Nobody’s Listening which is my favorite song from this album
"Somewhere I belong" always reminded me of Adema in a way I'm not completely comfortable with, specifically the minor-to-major thing you're talking about.
“It’s a great song I just don’t like it” 😂😂 the best part about this video is you say you don’t like linkin park because of their simplistic elementary school level lyrics. But you can’t articulate enough beyond your own elementary level vocabulary and explanations. To explain why you don’t like something. You are living proof how toxic ego can be. I don’t like something because I said I don’t and everyone should understand that because I said so hahah what.
@ if you don’t like something someone else does and you do the same exact thing. That is called being a hypocrite and that is all I was pointing out. If you don’t like something explain it. We aren’t 5 years old anymore
@trickshotsmoviesandcubing2317 it actually is. Because doing music reviews and making content is an art in itself. You can write a song in 1 minute just like how you can produce a video in 1 minute. Music requires high articulation since when 😂😂 no you mean professionals like linkin park care about their craft and put a lot of time and effort. So it’s even more ridiculous a lowly youtuber that can’t even put the same effort level in his craft criticizing them.
@@pleaseshutup7053 I agree that he's too harsh on their lyrics. But I'm just saying that I expect much higher standards from the articulation of music lyrics than I do review videos
Their sound, lol, true. But wait for Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns, you might change your tune. Don't forget get to do QWERTY (the live version).
I don't even see Linkin Park as Nu Metal. They are not like Korn, SLipknot, Mudvayne or System of a down. If Linkin Park is Nu Metal, you could also call Nickelback a grunge band. Which is offensive to Nirvana fans, and Linkin Park are kinda offensive to me, if people call them in one sentence with other great Nu Metal bands. Yes, they are whiney and poppy. The Coldplay of Nu Metal. ^^ They seem like people pleasers to me, trying to appeal also to your grandma and your mom who listens to them while ironing the laundry. What I really miss is some kind of edginess, all the other bands of this era had. They are way too clean. Crazy thing: I think they sound way better, with their new female singer. But their fans think the opposite. Not saying their new singer is the technically better singer, it's just Chesters whiney, boyish voice I cannot stand (not in rock/metal), and that's just a matter of taste of course. Edit: I really enjoyed "Breaking the habit" to be honest, because they weren't even trying to mimic Nu Metal. And it works surprisingly well that way.
Lmfao what? People have their own tastes. Ain’t a damn thing wrong with his opinions as they’re just that. Love LP but you sound like a butthurt fanboy.
How to tell you have OCD: "Why is it called Figure 09? Why not Figure 08, because a figure 8 is an actual thing, and it's the 8th track on the album. If they were so insistent on calling it Figure 09, why not make it track 9?"
