I just want to say thank you for your videos, they have brought us much happiness and enjoyment to observe your master art! They are very relaxing and entertaining. Thank you! 🙏🏻
Yet another fine Wisley walk. Hope you will do one again in a few months time, to show us the seasonal changes and explain the work needed for that specific period of the year.
Oh I realy like the bigger bonsai trees! Beautiful trees you have made ! I hope I can make something like that. I will have all my trees only outside. Wonderful !!! Thank you !
Wow, your trees are quite something....what a walk that would be. The big old oak looks fabulous looking down the hall, what an amazing tree ! Your helper / apprentice also does a wonderful job in maintenance of the trees and landscape.
At :29 seconds we see the shadow of a child. As the excitement inside grows so to their shadow and then like a flower opening to the sunshine the source of the shadow appears. Running with the joy and great interest that will last a life time and continue the art form we love and carry on in our own lives. Thank you so much for to this wonderful video walk and talk.
Teacher.....I truly love your video's. I study them every day. I created my first bonsai tree today. I used an $8 juniper from Walmart. And I was not afraid to cut branches😉🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think it turned out pretty nice for my first bonsai tree.
I'm always surprised to see this trees without any protection througout the winter. Even the large ones which are very well rooted seem to manage winter without any problems. Amazing, thanks for sharing this walk with us, it seems spring is just around the corner ;O)
I hope to create something like that walk some day. At the moment I just have the tree stumps. 😁 A storm blew over a couple of big trees in my garden and I have sliced and kept the trunks to use as stands for the bonsai which I hope to develop. 😁 Thanks Peter for all your advice, inspiration and encouragement.
Nice introduction of the trees, I would like a longer video on this walk, where you take more time to show the details. Winter is good for such a video because the leaves are not in the way.
Wow. Period. What a collection. What would I give for just one tree of that wonderful bunch of trees. I hope they are good secured. Would be great to see them in spring or summer time. Thanks, Peter.
I would probably be spending a lot of time gawking at them all,. Gonna try the creeping juniper for my porch side 😇😂. Thx for sharing Peter.. can't wait for the next one..
Midnite San - I know what you mean. I spend a lot of time just looking at landscaping from different angles, smelling them, pruning them, feeling the textures. Lol.
Dear Peter. Please make a video on the care and styling of Prunus Bonsai. They are everywhere at this time of year and of course the Japanese love them! I have always heard conflicting information about them and even experienced owners somtimes say “not to bother” as seemingly happy trees lose branches etc....
Beautiful garden, sir! If you please, could you tell me how tall you are? I only ask to get a sense of scale of your trees that you've shown today. I question myself concerning my trees size. I seem to prefer a larger bonsai, but sometimes think I grow them too big and hence not bonsai. I'd have to travel two hours to San Francisco to their Japanese garden to see some examples in person. Again, well done on your garden and thank you for sharing.
@@peterchan3100 Thank you! None of my trees are that tall...yet anyway. they're also not more than 5-6 years of age, either. All of which are hand collected or grown from seed. Thank you again.
Hi Peter, are the trees taken off the display trunks when there are storm gale force winds like we had recently? or are the pots tied down at all? lovely collection of trees, stunning.
0:05 I'm pretty sure the word 盆栽 _bonsai_ - or at least it's pronounciation - is Japanese, not Chinese. Whereas in China they originally called this artform 盆景 _penjing,_ which rather translates to "tray landscape".
I had to look up liverwort weed and I see it's kind of pretty. Why do you remove it? Maybe it has something to do with the roots? Moss doesn't have the roots to disturb the subject plant.
A lot of the so called "Bonsai Experts" will criticise me for letting this grow, but as you say - they are pretty in their own way, so how does that matter! Thanks for the encouragement !
Dear Peter, I have a question. Just recently bought a sequoia seedling. It has been doing just fine, but lately the very tips of its tiny branches have started to become brown. It is watered about twice a week.
Though I think that the drainage could be improved upon and maybe I can add sphagnum moss to its soil. At the bottom of the pot there is orchid soil which is basically chunks of wet bark I think and on top of it is dead leaves from my garden and on top some coffee grinds and pine needles. Does that sound okay? Thanks in advance
Another great video with stunning bonsai. Although I would also love to see these trees in summer as well, I think deciduous trees have a different beauty in winter when they lost all their leaves. :) About the budding: do you think climate change will influence all year outdoor bonsai in the long run?
@@peterchan3100 First of all thank you for your answer. :) I agree with the tropical species. Because this winter was extremely mild I was just wondering if it can be dangerous for the trees that are already budding if there will be a second (or really just the first) cold wave later on this winter or if it only makes the difference in when the trees start to grow leaves.
Wait! You can't just go past the ground juniper without showing and explaining how you attend to it, to get it to look like that. That needs a video! In camera it's very convincing as a moss.
No secret to growing these creeping Junipers - They are Juniperus procumbems "Green carpet" - they creep naturally over the ground. They dont need any attention at all.
Beautiful walk, but there's just one little critique I have: I think a few of the trees stand too high above the ground, so that some people, especially kids, won't be able to see them from eye level unless they grow taller themselves. As a person you can usually always go a bit lower, unless you have back problems, but higher is difficult, so I would reduce the height of some stands. But that's just my opinion, because some of the trees looked really high.
Every time when you coming closer to the tree touching them and talking about its look like meeting old friend. Master you are amazing!
I'm just shocked how Mr Peter remembers every single tree, its history, age. Omg 👍👍👍
I've been an RHS member for a few years and always wanted to know more about this piece of the gardens. Many thanks for the guided walk. 🙂
Having four grandchildren my heart went in my throat when the little ones ran down the walkway. Beautiful collection. Thanks
Very peaceful. Congratulations on such a splendour of bonsai.
Wunderschöne Bäume, danke für den Rundgang. 👍🏻
I really always enjoy these wisley tours. That Chinese Elm with the hook branch is extraordinarily special

I really enjoyed the video, it had such a personal feel to it. It's so nice to see your artwork so beautifully displayed!
Thanks Nigel for your kind comments
Great camera work! Not too shaky and no sudden movements. Really Good!

Fall and winter are my favorite seasons to look at trees. Thank you.
Bonjour et merci pour la visite !
Thank you my friend. It is reassuring to know that beauty also exists.
Stunning trees. Would love to see the tour again in the spring and summer.

Precious Trees!
The world consists only in manipulation, for better, for worse - that’s called life.
No critic at all. Thank you, Mr.Chan! 🙏
Beautiful bonsais u have!!!!!!!

Well, this is just amazing. These are really nice trees. You are doing great job and giving me a lot of inspiration.

Amazing place...
Hello Peter, I was wondering what if you could make a video on creating a root-over-rock maple bonsai if you have the time.
Look out for this one - I am making video about this
Beautiful.
I hope some day my Chinese elms look as good 😁
I've heard about Instagram now. So I go there ))
Lovely sir.

Those Tridents are beautiful, just too own one would complete any Bonsai collection.
The price of a small car would buy you one of those!
Peter you should know my humour by now, are we talking a £50 wreck or a brand new Mercedes hahaha. I think I can guess which one!

Hi..what so you think about repotting in february? Thanks Gerald
I have been re-potting since the end of Jan
Ok thanks..but if i cut roots back and the temperature goes to -10 Celsius is there a problem?
Hi Peter, are the trees taken off the display trunks when there are storm gale force winds like we had recently? or are the pots tied down at all? lovely collection of trees, stunning.
No they are not taken down when it is stormy. Maybe we are just lucky that they dont get blown down or may be the trees are heavy enough to be stable.
0:05 I'm pretty sure the word 盆栽 _bonsai_ - or at least it's pronounciation - is Japanese, not Chinese. Whereas in China they originally called this artform 盆景 _penjing,_ which rather translates to "tray landscape".
Hello Mr. Chan, I was wondering if you’ve ever made bonsai out of the Chinese Perfume Plant(Aglaia Odorata)?
I am not familiar with this plant.
Excelente!
U r full power baba.....full power
Touch me feet if I am to be your Guru (only joking!)

can you make a video maybe for an avocado tree/bonsai?
they are easy to grow from the stone or seed but as the leaves are so large, I don't think they would make a nice bonsai unless it is a big one.

is liverwort bad to let grow in bonsai pots?
It doesn't look nice and doesn't let air into the soil. It also makes the soil too wet.
Magic
It would be so cool if you repeated this tour in a few months when the trees are in full foliage. I bet they'd be so beautiful.
Another great video with stunning bonsai. Although I would also love to see these trees in summer as well, I think deciduous trees have a different beauty in winter when they lost all their leaves. :)
About the budding: do you think climate change will influence all year outdoor bonsai in the long run?
Difficult to say but this winter has certainly been mild. Not mild enough though to grow tropical species outdoors!! That would be foolhardy.
